The main game yeah, even after the main game was done I still felt compelled to try to get all the moons and costumes and all that crap you dont really need. I didn't get that with BOTW, played it a bit, tried some of the side stuff, but then it lost it's muster, then again I think I just was in the mindset "no use playing when the dlc quests aren't all out yet" so that might change next time. Overall it's definitely Nintendos year. I have a feeling next year will be also.

I wish his annual duel with Reggie was more climatic this year. Needed more awkward passive insults from Geoff. Anyways this year was actually professional and well done I gotta say. Only real issue being that Geoff sounds dead inside and un-excited when he interviews people and such. Not saying he needs to be loud and annoying but he was very robotic and monotone.
The only thing I hated about this Game Of The Year Awards was 1: Horizon Zero Dawn didn't win anything 😢 2:PUBG was actually nominated to be a contender for GOTY.

I hate the BS DLC/microtransaction culture of today but I really don't mind this kind of expansions that are dropped around the time when people have played through the game and actually welcome more. Like done by the likes of Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn and now Breath of The Wild. That's how DLC was back in the day and how it should've stayed tbh.

Glad Nier Automata got nominated for a few and even won best music, the soundtrack is insane!!! This game is my personal game of the year, it was super underrated at one point, but definitely a highlight for 2017 for me in terms of gaming.

Seriously you don't understand, JRPGs like Persona are pure art, very well developed and with great storyline, ambientation, soundtrack and the visuals. Combat system is like that because they want to do it that way, you can do a lot of strategy and not just press Square, square, Triangle and then loot

Gaming has truly come a long way. Congrats to Geoff after those horrible years of spikes video game awards Geoff and his team learned from those failures and looked at how the Grammys, Oscar, emmys do award shows and made one the best Game Awards show ever. Yes Geoff did do some sell out things in the past but if this was his end goal making a mainstream gaming award show. If music, movies, and tv can be looked as art why can’t gaming. Orchestrated game music, great presentation, good award selections and great games selected. As long as Geoff keep this format in 5-8 years this award show live on long after Geoff is gone.

Best award show I've ever seen. Great job Geoff. My only complaint, so many games that I was really looking forward to (Wolfenstein II for example) won awards but did not get the chance to accept it on stage. It was probably because of time but if I had to pick at something, it would be that. By the way, the live orchestra was awesome :)
It's great seeing such a classy event hosted, performed, and viewed (both online and in-person) by gamers. This is a great step of video games being accepted into mainstream media.
There were 100s of thousands watching on twitch and we got to vote for every category before they happened. Was an amazing event, if you missed it on twitch you missed out
2017 was a great year for games, Zelda BotW, Mario Oddissey, Horizon, Cuphead, Wolfenstein wasn't nominated for the main goty but was a excelent game, and ended up winning an award too.

Honestly surprised that Mario didn't take the goty. BOTW was great, but I wasn't able to put down Mario until I had maxed the moons.
well to be fair it isnt as long as botw. mario only took about 60 hours while i spent 3 times as much in zelda
The main game yeah, even after the main game was done I still felt compelled to try to get all the moons and costumes and all that crap you dont really need.
I didn't get that with BOTW, played it a bit, tried some of the side stuff, but then it lost it's muster, then again I think I just was in the mindset "no use playing when the dlc quests aren't all out yet" so that might change next time.
Overall it's definitely Nintendos year. I have a feeling next year will be also.

By far, the best Game Awards. I used to laugh at the Dorito Pope but truly he has come a long way.

Anyways this year was actually professional and well done I gotta say. Only real issue being that Geoff sounds dead inside and un-excited when he interviews people and such. Not saying he needs to be loud and annoying but he was very robotic and monotone.

Glad Nier Automata got nominated for a few and even won best music, the soundtrack is insane!!! This game is my personal game of the year, it was super underrated at one point, but definitely a highlight for 2017 for me in terms of gaming.

Seriously you don't understand, JRPGs like Persona are pure art, very well developed and with great storyline, ambientation, soundtrack and the visuals. Combat system is like that because they want to do it that way, you can do a lot of strategy and not just press Square, square, Triangle and then loot

Gaming has truly come a long way. Congrats to Geoff after those horrible years of spikes video game awards Geoff and his team learned from those failures and looked at how the Grammys, Oscar, emmys do award shows and made one the best Game Awards show ever. Yes Geoff did do some sell out things in the past but if this was his end goal making a mainstream gaming award show. If music, movies, and tv can be looked as art why can’t gaming.
Orchestrated game music, great presentation, good award selections and great games selected. As long as Geoff keep this format in 5-8 years this award show live on long after Geoff is gone.
