@@royalnpoison1547 4 of the starters on Elite UNC played in the Final Four with maybe the most anticipated hyped college basketball matchup ever with Duke in the National Semi Finals last year and eventually in the National Championship game. Illinois has not made the Sweet 16 since 2005. This core group of UNC has already proven they can make the Final Four and are relevant. Illinois has still yet to prove they can make the Final Four since their only Final Fours were in 1989 and 2005 since 1952.

Sincere Harris’ putback layup at the 8 min mark in second half to cut the lead to 8 was the game-winning play imo. We had missed two free throws then immediately gave up a wide open layup to go down 10. If he doesn’t put that back and Texas comes down and score again and it’s 12 or 13 point deficit, game over.

I get that the Illini coming into the season was bit of a unknown with all the transfers and freshman. They have played a tough schedule and will be getting better as the season progresses. But that #17 ranking is BS. Disrespectful in fact. They should at least be in the top 8. I can see these 2 teams playing again deep in March.
They're a 2 loss team, maybe a few spots up in the rankings, but top 8? How do you justify putting them ahead of Maryland (currently #13 @ 8-0) that they lost to? At any rate, they should definitely get a boost up the ladder after the Texas win.
