@@JohnsWoodenShips hey quick question for you I’m building the same ship but in 1/48 scale so it’s pretty big unfortunately I have no directions for rigging just pictures what rigging thickness would you recommend for my main rigging lines coming off my deadeye to my main mast I was thinking 1.3 mm ?
@@tommyv8559 I am panning on using 0,7mm for shrouds , 0,45mm for dead eyes and 0,35mm for the ladders steps and 1mm for the main standing rigging. I will only use 1,2mm on the ropes between masts. For your scale you need 1,2 or 1,3 mm for shrouds around 0,9 - 1mm for dead eyes, 0,8 for the ladders steps and 1,5-1,6 for the main standing rigging.
@@JohnsWoodenShips thanks so much for your expertise in this field I really appreciate it and I’m going back again to review your rigging videos to do my homework thanks again I really appreciate all your help and skills ps I’ll send you some pictures once I figure out how to download them to you I did try but it wouldn’t go through lol !
@@tommyv8559 Anytime :) you can send me photos here : john.aliprantis@gmail.com
Hello John !! Your work is so good !! Congrest ...
Thank you so much my friend!!! 😀
As always John, great job :)
Thank you very much!!!
Hello John looking good, I use the same method for planking, and it dos make it look realistic. Lucky that modelbuilding is not a race, because it dos take time.
Best wishes Simon 😊
Hello my friend!!! Yes it is very time consuming but the result is great!!!
G,day John from John on the Sunshine Coast in Australia again - luv your work and please keep saying “oooh boy” it really makes my day - thank you for your reply regarding Ropes of Scale, you are so right, although they are relatively expensive there is no comparison with what is provided in the kits. I am presently ploughing my way through HMS Endeavour, but as you know the online instructions leave a lot to be desired, and the photos regarding the rigging are leaving my head spinning. I noticed that you disregarded the supplied instructions and used some from another supplier - would it be too cheeky to ask if you could tell me where I could get a copy as otherwise I can see it being an absolute disaster. Keep up the great work John, give Buddy a pat from me and hope to hear from you - best regards John
Hi John! Thank you very much for your kind words!!! The Artesanias instructions were tragic, so i downloaded the OcCre ones from here : occre.com/en/products/endeavour :)
The thread gives a really nice effect. Great work. I'm thinking of using this method on Victory.
Glad you like it! You have to my friend, you have to, the outcome will leave you speechless!!!
John please you gotta do the Black Pearl at once as a ship builder! 🙏 Your ships always look SOOO GOOD. ZHL make nice wood kits
It is not in my plans for now, sorry...
Good job John … string is great … regards Nigel 😊
Indeed it is my friend!!!
Thank you
You're welcome!
A nice start to the deck, John
I wish I wasn't so allergic to CA, or I would give it a try
Try with a mask on, maybe you won't inhale the fumes :)
I had enough of masks with Covid !
I have tried but nothing seems to stop it 😢
@@andypellatt7862 Too bad... 😟With CA glue you can make your model faster and better.
Hi John, what size thread do you use? Planking looks great!
Thank you very much!!! It's 0,15mm
Dear John. I admire your work. I need your advice.I plan to make a Royal de Soleil model. Which manofacturer do you recommend? Deagostini or Artesania latina. The both price are the same. Regards
Thank you very much!!! If you go with Artesania you will get a cheap Chinese model with average to low quality of materials and high purchase price. So go with Deagostini.
Thank you for your advise. I will order by Deagostini
Hi John. Im sure you know by now that you are doing a lot of work planking areas that are covered and will never be seen.
Yes my friend, i know, that's why on the end of the deck i leave it unfinished.
John, every time I want to this thread method the harder it is. Well, not harder, just more tedious...
The problem is that you get a lot of glue on your fingertips.
Where did you get the xacto saw blade
Another great model begins
I found it here : www.super-hobby.co.uk/catalog/Spare-blades-19634949.html it's been a long time, i don't remember the description.
Can domeone tell me what the electric Hand dril is called?
It's an Arrowmax and i got it from Amazon US.
@@JohnsWoodenShipsthanks. Love your Videos
Why not stagger the joints
I don't understand the question
@@JohnsWoodenShips not making them end in an even spot
@@geokeyey1116 What do you mean? The are even but they have thread at every joint.
@@JohnsWoodenShips not make them even length
@@geokeyey1116 The length is even for each strip but there is a pattern , have you seen it?
