In WW1 my great grandmother was worried about her family and they put jars of food inside the walls of the house.60 years later my grandmother and Uncle took the peaches out of the wall and ate a jar. Yes, crazy but they did not get sick, probably like forever alcohol peaches!

You can use lids a second time, however there can be no cuts in the rubber, I use them but I'm careful. I'm 68 was taught to can and preserve food by my mother. In all the years Mom canned and now me, I can only remember a couple of things that didn't seal or went bad. Mom made it to 93 eating home canned food.
