Garmin Vivoactive 4 / Venu- How To Change or Download Watch Face

In this video, I'll show you how you can change the watch face on your garmin vivoactive 4 from the default watch faces available out of the box. I will also show you how you can download compatible watch faces from the garmin connect IQ store where you can install now watch faces using garmin connect mobile from your smartphone.
1. Selecting a default watch face
Your vivoactive 4 comes with several watch faces that you can select or customize. PRESS and HOLD the BACK button and from the screen select WATCH FACE.
From here you can swipe left or right to see the different watch face. You can swipe UP at a watch face the customization options: data, color, time markers and delete. Some watch faces will have certain areas where you can customize which data fields are available. By pressing the GPS button, you can enter your changes. Once you've customized a watch face, simply TAP the screen the make it your current watch face.
You also create a NEW watch face by TAPPING on the NEW (+) icon at the right of the watch face list. From here you can create from scratch a watch from the available options.
2. Downloading Watch Face From Connect IQ Store
If the default watch faces are not enough, you can download additional watch faces from the Garmin Connect IQ store. You can browse through the various options, read reviews, look at screenshots and which ones are compatible with Vivoactive 4. Bare in mind some of these user submitted watch faces may want access to your device for functionality, but may also affect your battery life. Also some fields are not available if the watch face was originally designed for a Fenix 6 for example.
Simply tad DOWNLOAD from the COnnect IQ store to download the watch face to your Garmin Connect smartphone app. To view the downloaded watch faces, from the Garmin Connect app, TAP on the watch icon at the top of the screen to the right of your profile picture. SELECT APPEARANCE | WATCH FACE.
From here you can see the list of downloaded watch faces and which ones are actually installed on the watch. Tap a thumbnail and SELECT INSTALL to actually install a watch face. Depending on the file size, this may take 30 seconds or so. Once complete the newly installed watch face will display on the watch.
After installation, TAP again on the Garmin Connect thumbnail to adjust the settings. To uninstall a watch face, simply TAP on the 3 DOTS and SELECT UNINSTALL. This will move the thumbnail out of the installed section in Garmin Connect.

thank for the vid! Do you know how many watch faces you can download & install on a Venu watch (to have on standby so you can use it whenever you want)? And, if you download new ones, will you replace the existing ones that came with the watch (if there are a set number of "slots" for faces on each Venu/Garmin watch)?

Good question - I’ve had up to 7 at one point but I guess you can load up watch faces as free space allows.

Does vivoactive 4 support face it app? Or anyway to choose your own pictures as a watchface?

I just checked and the face it app has been rolled into the connect iq app. Confirmed it works on my Vivoactive 4 with a custom watch face I just created

I can't seem to be able to change the background color to black. It's sort of gray and I would like it to be darker for better contrast. Any ideas on how to do this?

You can't do that. No way to adjust the constrast.

@@You-Be-The-Judge Yup, depending on which of the out of box watch face you select, you will have either two or several choices for the seconds marks around the watch face. Some have ticks like in some old school watched, others has ring that slowly fills up and others are in increments of 10 seconds etc... By default it looks like most have the ring that fills up selected.
