- When it comes to tooling leather, there is an almost overwhelming amount of tools to choose from! Depending on the type of designs you want to create, and the style you are going for, will ultimately determine the tools you need. I primarily tool one of a kind floral designs that I draw out new each time. That is my personal preference and it helps me decide which tools to invest in, for the look that I am going for. Regardless of what tools you use, how you use them to create your art is completely up to you. Some of them don’t have much more than a single function, but others can be used in a variety of different ways to change the way a patterns looks in the end result.
These thumbprint tools that I cover in the video are some of my favorite stamps I have in my collection! The shape and different textures you can get make them a very versatile stamping tool. There are dozens of ways to shade your projects and a handful of different tools to do so. Whatever you decide to choose, don't feel confined to the direct intentions of the tool! At the end of the day, these tools do have basic functions for how they are created; however, this is an art form, and how you decide to use them is completely up to your own creativity. I hope this video helped understand the basic functions of these thumbprints and gave you some inspiration for your tooling journey!

Love your videos brother. Hey question, can you make a video or do you have one already on how to make the , " hey dudes" custom leather shoes? And is it possible to see them without a sewing machine? Can you please reply? Thank you.
I’ve only made one pair a couple years ago and I referenced a video that Dominic Davis (D2 Leatherwork) has on RUclips. You can sew them by hand if you want or buck stitch them. It isn’t necessarily easy, but it is possible. You might check out his video if it is still up and see if it helps.
Thank you, I will. I appreciate your reply.
