- We are FINALLY installing the GT headlights into my 2016 Mazda 3.

This install has been a long time coming. I picked mine up used from a dude who was parting out his mazda 3. I lucked out.
I think these tail lights are just the "bomb.com" and have been admiring them for so long!

4 years later and still hardly any aftermarket tail light for this car. I’ve been looking for some for my car for over a year now and have finally given up and I’ll be ordering these lights 😂

Seeing him install these, i will be happy just installing the round led tail lights and leave out the lights on the actual liftgate on my mazda3
It would be incomplete without that full strip. I'd do both personally doesn't look hard to do

Awesome video, helped me to get most of the way there, but I hit a wall wiring, the inner tail lamps, has anyone managed to find the wire harness for these? Or some other sort of direct wiring?
Nice work, I swapped the outer (brake/turn signal lights) a while back and I never did the inner ones because I was worried they'd be a PITA, given that they require splicing.
Thanks for the video on how to do that hatch lights! I think I still may just keep the outer ones without the inner ones because of the cost (and because the stubby line and circle is somewhat range rover-esque)

@@osalcedoucmsae Fogs are so cheap to add. Under $100 which includes new fog stalk.

Looks amazing. Does anyone know whether or not the tail lights from a 2017 model be compatible with a 2015 model? I've found some cheaper used prices from a 2017 model.

Hey! How was the install in the inner taillights? I’m assuming the reverse light connector is there already. Do we have to purchase an extra connector for the led and then splice that like it’s shown in the vid?
I believe so. The oem ones come with a plug but i dont know if not gt models have the connector
Congrats, buddy! They look awesome. Very detailed video too! LED Taillights, headlights, and fogs were the first thing I did when I got my 2017 T. (Totally worth it)
By the way, when you switch to DRLs only, do they all turn on/stay on even when the car is turned off?

Where did you find the LED housings for your hatchback? The only ones I could find were for sedans.

Nice video. Where did you bought your GT LED Tail Lights?
I got them from another guy that was parting out his mazda. He got them from mazda swag. They are an oem parts dealer.
You should invest in some LED bulbs for your indicators and reverse lights. It makes a massive Ive changed mine and it looks a lot better and much more modern. The indicators turn on and off instantly because there led and it looks much better. The reverse bulbs would just match your plate lights and DRLs.
ooo I might replace some indicator lights. I have the LD reverse bulbs and love it! maybe I will do a video update on that one.

I know this is an old video, but did your new inner lamps come with the two wires? Did you buy the wiring separately? That’s the only part I’m stuck on. I ordered some and they had no wires attached.

I have a 2018 and i would want to do a lot of mods you have done. I'm interested in wrapping my interior. Would it be similar to how you disassembled yours or is it different? I also have a manual transmission. I know it's a little different with the ebrake
I have a 2016. It is probably very similar. Probably has an extra plug for the E brake, but the modules should all pop out the same. just go slow just to make sure before just yanking on everything.

@@GregPettus what is the parts number of those tail lights friend? I cantact with mazdaswag and they say these are aftermarket and they only sell oem parts.
So my Mazda 3 is a Mexico built, and the tail lights I found online with the LEDs are for Japan built Mazda 3s (specifically the part with the reverse light). Would it still work or is there a fitment/connection difference between the two?

Greg F. Pettus May sound like a dumb question, but how does the LED illuminate in the outter taillight if it’s just using the same harness as the previous halogen one?

does country of origin (japan made or mexico made) affect fitment, or just the connectors/clips?

As long as your car is for the North American market, it should be the same as this video. My 2016 iTouring Hatchback, which was made in Mexico, is exactly the same as Greg's Hatchback is in regards to the connectors, screws, trim pieces..etc.

Have to go to mazda oem parts websites and look for the GT model tail lights

Anyone have issues when taking them off that bolts snapped? can the bolts just be replaced?
Yeah i broke the plastic tab thats hard to remove. It can be replaced just have to look up the part no.

Greg F. Pettus Yes lol, sounds like the whole piece has to be replaced and you can’t just buy the bolts.
Is it safe to install them without resistors?
should be safe. Havent had any issues without it

Bought it used from someone parting out. He bought it off Mazda Swag, a mazda dealer sight for 600. Hope that helps!

You mean retrofit gt headlights?

The cables are different if i am not mistaken. There is an aftermarket gt one that is plug and play.

One of the main things I've been looking for are GT headlights. Do you know of any places I can get them? The only place I've seen so far is CarID. And when you say plug and play do you mean there's no rewiring or anything like that involved? Just swap them out?
@@GregPettus I have a ‘17 2.5 Touring Hatchback, the headlights are halogens and I’d like to upgrade them. Not just the bulbs to LED ones, but the entire headlight assembly with something cool like the GT headlights. I haven’t had any luck finding aftermarket ones, can you link the ones that you mentioned are plug and play? And where do you go for aftermarket parts for your Mazda? I usually look at CorkSport. Thanks in advance!
That's a lot of work for a mod that's seen by everyone other than you. Only when the brake is applied.
