In order to tell a cohesive story they would probably have to concentrate on one bands story. Metallica is probably the band it would have to be about to drive mainstream movie viewers.
he's recreating what he saw at the time, no one was using the wah pedal at the time, so he was making his emotions what he saw at the time he saw it the first time i think
Legend has it Cliff once started playing through a Crate 1x10 combo and within 30 seconds it transformed into a full 8x10 Mesa Boogie stack with a box of perfectly rolled joints on top
@Rotten to the Core! Wow, that must've been your "top notch" insult from your loser list. Well, hate to tell ya, it sucked, kind of like U do, U suck major nutsack. Ever heard the saying, "if you can't say something nice, DON'T OPEN YOUR Squawk BOX BITCH".? 🤘
I remember seeing metallica open for Ozzy in Tucson AZ, was on the left side of the stage and Cliff Burton broke 3 strings on his bass and still kept jamming on his bass. RIP Cliff!!!!!!!!!
An epic neo classical thrash band writing epic ballads mixed with heavy riffs and harmonies. Or at least that's what they would be in my perfect little world lol
Kevin Dunn Mustaine would have brought so many epic riffs (he proved it throughout Megadeth's early albums) and cliff would have kept the epic ballad infused, harmony guitars mixed with heavy riff songwriting alive while James creates the heavy riffs spurred on by the incredible band line up that could have been. Oh well, Mustaine was fired from Alcoholica for being an alcoholic. Maybe he was better off on his own with hired hands learning his riffs and songs
Kevin Dunn Oh yeah another thing. Look at it this way. Iced earth writes incredibly epic masterpieces of songs. At least we have them. That's how i look at Metallica dying anyway.
"His wah pedal thing" LOL, c'mon Kirk, don't act like you don't know what it is. You've been using it on every song, for every album, and every gig since 1983.
2 of the best guitar players in the business - RIGHT THERE (Scott is one of the tightest rhythm guitars I've ever seen live, and while he's stomping around moshing too - and Kirk - pure class....)
Metallica and The Allman Brothers Band. Two bands who always made sure to keep the spirits alive of their beloved band mates. Cliff Burton and Duane Allman.... 2 of the best... both gone to soon from bad accidents..... 2 legends.
I worked for a small sound reinforcement company in the Bay Area, back in the day. Sometimes, we'd get jobs at local clubs, County Fairs and stuff like that. One gig, we were asked to help beef up the PA at "The Stage" in Danville CA. Well, the band was Trauma and I was first struck by one of the Roadies (friend of the band), who had a cut off football jersey with iron on letters across the shoulders that read, 'Fuckin' Dan'. Then they started playing and Cliff brings out his Rick(enbacker) and lights up the place. He was wearing a shiny (silk?) green Karate gee with a big assed Ankh medallion necklace. and he does this solo with, I think, was a Morley Power wah. I say to myself, "Wait, this is a bass, right?". Well it was, but it didn't sound like a bass. Those were the 'crispiest' sounding round wounds on there with the treble boosted. There were lows too.....Oh there were lows, alright. Just seeing how the future unfolded was a total trip.
When I was a kid I thought Cliff was overrated, until I realized, one day many years ago,I haven't liked Metallica since Cliff died! Cliff gave Metallica that really fast, heavy sound,in retrospect the guy was an innovative, incredible bass guitarist! Thanks Cliff, for some awesome music!
FearLess3431 Pretty funny, I've heard those songs dozens of times and didn't even know Cliff was doing background vocals! Thanks for the info, Ill' give those songs a listen. \m/
***** Their first three albums were peerless, they redefined metal, in my opinion. It was all about the palm muting and their over all sound. They are still great musicians, I just prefer their older stuff.
***** Oh yeah, for sure! Sabbath, Priest, Iran Maiden, Motor Head. There are definitely some great bands before Metallica. The other two Metallica albums had some good songs on them. The change in their style was pretty obvious, because of Cliff's death and Jason joining the band. Different producer? I can't remember! Getting to old! LOL
All the "Yeah"s...James Hetfield must be so proud
xD
Lol
Scott Ian: Mean while I'm thinking Cliffs pockets are full of weed.
Kirk Hammett: Like always.
B.K = Before Kirk
A.D = After Dave
I think....
That's pretty funny tbf xD
B.C = before cliff ;]
O.M.G = Old Metallica Gang
Yep you got it sorry but Dave is better but I love Kirk 2 hand in hand
@ your crazy as fk but that's your opinion Daves playing is more technical everyone knows that don't get me wrong I love kirk too
They seriously need to make a Thrash Metal biopic. These stories make a badass funny movie lol.
In order to tell a cohesive story they would probably have to concentrate on one bands story. Metallica is probably the band it would have to be about to drive mainstream movie viewers.
You called it
They did it ! Look up for Murder in the Front Row : The Bay Area Thrash Metal story
I agree just seen that these guys are just down to earth regular dudes kind of makes us all feel like we could be rock stars in our own way
A tv show would probably be more practical
Kirk pretending he didn't know what a wah was
:3333 so cuuuute
He definitely had a couple shots before this hahaha.
Scarecrow545 nah he doesn't drink anymore. Not since '03-'04
+FixxxeR208 Oh he definitely drank in The Night Before
he's recreating what he saw at the time, no one was using the wah pedal at the time, so he was making his emotions what he saw at the time he saw it the first time i think
Wahhhh you mean ?
Imagine Cliff sitting in front of the amp headbanging and then all of a sudden the amp not only starts working but it becomes a better amp
I reallly expected that to happen and i believe it would have
wait your saying it didn’t become a better amp?!
He was meant for greatness
Legend has it Cliff once started playing through a Crate 1x10 combo and within 30 seconds it transformed into a full 8x10 Mesa Boogie stack with a box of perfectly rolled joints on top
I really love seeing my heros just being regular people like me.
@@bangurhead4027 um what?
Everybody just loves putting this guy down yet he is a member of the most successful band of it's kind for decades. Give it a rest.
I remember seeing metallica open for Ozzy in Tucson AZ, was on the left side of the stage and Cliff Burton broke 3 strings on his bass and still kept jamming on his bass. RIP Cliff!!!!!!!!!
Scott Ian, best known for his work in every metal related documentary ever
I wonder what Metallica would be like today if cliff wouldn't have died
Better.
I dream of a world where they didn't fire Mustaine and Cliff was alive.
DropdaLTDtoB
Iced Earth is one of my favorite live metal bands.
Kirk is a cool storyteller, isn't he?
yoshimitsu bote he has a daughter... Maybe that's why
Nope.
Scotts head is incredibly square, I can't stop admiring it.
Hahahahaha
"The Man" (': RIP Cliff
I could sit here all day listening to story's about Cliff RIP
"His wah pedal thing" LOL, c'mon Kirk, don't act like you don't know what it is. You've been using it on every song, for every album, and every gig since 1983.
not really . the wah abuse started with black album. up until justice hammett was a great guitar player. sloppy player, awesome writer.
Sgt.James Doakes he was using wah pedal much earlier for example on ride the lightning
Karol Kaczor he used it rarely, like most other guitarist. kirk whammett started with black album when wah made its way into everything.
but he was using it i think that in two song, but now he overuses it
Karol Kaczor yeah thats my point. OP stated that hes used it in every song for for every album since 83 lol.
This is Summer's Father. I love any interviews about Cliff Burton. I was 16 when he died. Keep the footage going. He was awesome.
I love Kirk way too much
its still amazes me how massive of an influence Cliff still has over so many people. its crazy.
I'm beggining to wonder is there a metal video or documentary Scott Ian isnt in?
holy shit I was thinking the same thing
Because that face and beard are irresistible. And documentaries love dorks, hence Ian and Lars being common interviewees and documentary guests.
I think I can answer that... no
Instead of “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon,” Metal has “Six Degrees of Scott Ian”. He knows EEEEEVRYONE! 😂
There's one called "Musicians Who Appreciate Their Fans"
Cliff Burton = My all time hero and bass god. The reason I started the bass guitar over 20 years ago.
2 of the best guitar players in the business - RIGHT THERE (Scott is one of the tightest rhythm guitars I've ever seen live, and while he's stomping around moshing too - and Kirk - pure class....)
Metal gods went against you in 1986.... Cliff is now the god, so let us pray his style... WITH A BASS GUITAR SOLO!
He is metal god!
6:58 is it just me or that i can imagine Cliff's face when he was being pulled away by the UK cops 🤣
I can too.
dude he made that face in like every picture he had alcohol in his hands
Metallica and The Allman Brothers Band. Two bands who always made sure to keep the spirits alive of their beloved band mates.
Cliff Burton and Duane Allman.... 2 of the best... both gone to soon from bad accidents..... 2 legends.
But I've always loved Scott Ian. That guy is so d@mn funny.
Wonderful. Love these stories. RIP Burton
All this commentary from all the clips of this night are so beautiful, so appreciated. 💜🤘
long live Cliff...one of the greats...
i love the look kirk gives scott at 6:42. priceless.
THEY NEVER LOOKED UNDER THE MATRESS lol
A7X ANIMALS worst cops in London there were 10 fucking cops too
Fadhil K
Same level of coppage that the Beatles got in trouble with and escaped from.
That very funny and
Kirk was sooooooo fit🤤 he still is. Look at those arms
Cliff is the master
of puppets
Of bass
The cop who searched the place has seen this... lol know that.
Rest well Cliff!!! 🤘🤘
A.D Meant after dave ?xD
Must be "After Dave (Mustaine)"
They explained it. Kirk said it. Well this is funny :D
Someone should make a book of all the stories about Cliff.
What a legend. Cheers Cliff.
thankyou so much for posting these clips!!
I had a good time watching this-thanks for posting
Excelente video desde Chile genio y maestro cliff burton se le extrañara 😔😔🤘🤘🤘🇨🇱

Happy Late Birthday Cliff Burton we Miss u
Gotta make a documentary about guys talking about cliff and his life :)
THE METAL GODS SAVED CLIFF BURTONS WEED~!!
They did. They saved me!
Genuinely sat in my room laughing out loud at Scott's story. Brilliant
God bless mr. Burton. Miss u so much bud!!
Ahhh...Scott and the infamous "weed under the mattress" story. He never gets tired of telling it. :)
AWESOME recollections!
kirk uses a so much wah because he learn that it sounds kick ass from cliff... and its fucking amaizing cliff legacy is in him
I want to use Scott's Ian hidratation lotion ... he never ages 🤔🤨
Not sure if Kirk is drunk or that's just Kirk
that's just Kirk lol, act like a shy teen.
"he had me at headbang".... RIP Burton! U R tha man!!!
I just read Scott Ian's and he talked about that whole thing, oh my god it was so funny
Great stories R.I.P Cliff
I fucking rolled when he said "We don't have any drugs, knowing that's Cliff's pockets are filled with weed"
did cliff ever get his Walkman
I heard Scott tell this story on Loudwire. Turns out Cliff never got his Walkman. Even after all that trouble lol.
I am young and (relatively) innocent, what even is a Walkman?
Aidan Fogleman Something u will never know. Maybe Mom & DAD can tell u
@@larsswig912 That's just so sad to think about, poor dude never got his walkman
Fucking Walkmans,man..I used to go through two or three of those things every year!
I love this interview he also cool
I only clicked on the video to see a comment like this haha I just knew there will be one :D SCOTT IS EVERYWHERE
"full body bang"
- kirk hammett
Hey guys, some tips for when hiding from British cops: Hide under Kirk's mattress. It always works as a good hiding spot, trust me I'm experienced.
miss ya cliff :(
This is the most Kirk Hammett has spoken in front of an audience in the entire 30 years he's been in the band. I didn't know he had a personality.
thanks for sharing! \m/
they are both from my hometown, san francisco, baby,,,,,,,,,,yeah

AD, oh my god XD
Metallica and Anthrax were buddies back then! They recorded their 1st album in NY!
Those are some great stories.
Boy Kirk looks really good in tho those jeans 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾♥️❗❗❗
Cliff the coolest of all 4 !!
EARLY DAYS BEFORE KIRK ABOUT CLIFF!
"still to this day we could be sitting in an English prison" that would've meant..... Cliff would still be alive...
I miss the bay I'm in la now
he was in the funeral of jeff hanneman and the funeral of dimebag, he is every metal video
Kirk should be a comedian, lol.
Actually your right he has excellent delivery and comic timing.
All his dad jokes😂😂
kirk hammet finally found a guy he looks tall next too.
Legend says Cliff is still smoking weed up in heaven.
A.D. - After Dave lmao
bc actually stands fr before cliff and ad we all reemember that sad day in history love ya cliff
Very nice!
the best eva
@Zamudiokid actually metallica called kirk, and metallica did use some of daves riffs but they have plenty of good songs without his input too
Great story
Awesome. There is no god but Cliff. RIP.
There's no Lars story about Cliff ?
Scott Ian could be a talk show host...
RIP🤘🏼🤜🏻
@hitman036 Apparently you haven't seen "A Year And A Half In The Life Of..." or "Some Kind Of Monster".
Jeffrey P and most powerful backing vocals listen to ride the lightning and creeping death!
FearLess3431 Pretty funny, I've heard those songs dozens of times and didn't even know Cliff was doing background vocals! Thanks for the info, Ill' give those songs a listen. \m/

Scott Ian is so badass.
Love Cliff!
thanx
Imagine if they locked Cliff intil 1986 and he didn't die.
Does Kirk dyed his hair? I remember it black.
