jeremy and john: *boards full of big creatures*
steven: *has memnite*
justin: *wipes the board*
steven: well now you attacked me, this is personal
Seems entirely reasonable
John knows EXACTLY how to play this playgroup. Even when he's balling out of control he manages to make the others focus Justin. Jeremy has learned to build decks that just show up with big boards because he knows that only Justin will care enough to stop him, and Justin won't be around long because Stephen sits down every game only looking at him.
Yikes, every game this season has been the same story... with Justin getting punked and laughed at. Here's to the comeback next season! #teamparnell
GoldenAgeFalseEcho Yeah, it’s gross. Sometimes it discourages me to watch new episodes.
Justin has also been dominant in past seasons. Part of what changed this season is that people started really leaning into GY hate like I think they should when you have a player who loves their gy based strategies as much as Justin does. Another part of the problem is like in this video when Justin was popping off, he was doing lots of things that annoyed people but wasn't actually winning the game. I feel like he's dialed back a bit on how cutthroat he's made his decks (especially in a season where he's played the same color combination a bunch).
The place you want to be is always the 2nd spookiest thing at the table and that is where John and Jeremy shine. They stay just below Stephen's radar (which isn't hard since he loves to go after Justin anyway).
This is why I'm #teamsuarez. Politics is what commander is all about. He plays the table as well as the game.
I really hope y'all turn things around next season and get back to playing to try and win. The whole reason I started watching Commander Vs. was that you had a cohesive goal/narrative: Earn points across games to be able to win the season. This "Kill Justin First" joke has gotten old, and it was starting well before this season cranked it up to 11.
So glad you guys keep putting out content. Since you've all been playing together for so long, your videos become super relatable as the salt starts to ensue. Keep up the good work guys.
That's the nice thing about this group. They've know each other so well and for so long that the dynamic is fun to watch. Though I think a lot of viewers think they are saltier/angrier with each other than they ever actually are.
It is like John is invisible
Stephen and Justin focus on each other always and Jeremy is basically incapable of noticing who is the threat.
Yay, Jonathan is playing my deck
How do you submit decks?
@@chronics23 Via social media (Their individual accounts) They asked for submissions a few weeks ago
Its a really great concept! Love it.
@@gxantor oh ok thanks!
Your deck was incredible!
Justin thinks adding a little green will distract from the fact he’s still playing black white
Little did he know that all it would take was a little Green to completely screw him.
Ah, the return of the Point Screen Antincs and a PJ Masks reference. I needed this
Glad to see a return to the practice of placing hilarious images over the points screen!!
Been #teamgreen for years.....but yeah because of this season and this episode...#teamparnell all the way. #archenemy
I would LOVE to see these guys "play" as each other (i.e., Justin in Stephen's green spot, Jonathan in Jeremy's, etc.) Justin does an uncanny Green impersonation! ;)
This would honestly be an interesting theme for an episode! The players play decks in the spirit of the other players and in their seats - that'd really give interesting insight in how the work as magic players outside of their comfort zones!
Man the games would be legit if Justin wasn't there only one that can assess the threats AND pay attention to season points. Like Jeremy and Stephen are both pretty horrible at playing but Stephen takes the crown this episode with his play to stop Justin just so one of the points leads who both have way stronger board states can steam roll the game. Genius.
I mean the only one who could beat jeremy in points was jon, and that would have required him winning and Jeremy getting last. Stephen was just out to get justin this game so he could have more points than him.
"Dont waste your attack step with your blood lust." Lol! That one got me. Justin Parnell, you are the man sir.
I hope all these comments get read. I have enjoyed watching VS since the beginning, but it’s really hard to watch Justin be the only logical player. Jon is great too, but he’s way too good at shifting focus off his busted board states. A little bit of proper threat assessment would be nice. (A suppose I should take this moment to say that Viscera Seer should be in Justin’s command zone due to mutate rules I thought. It’s super confusing but I thought that’s how it worked) #TeamParnell
The Viscera Seer rightly goes to the graveyard, before or after the recent Commander "dies" change. The creature tries to go to the graveyard.
Before, the Commander _card_ (physical card with Commander property, not whatever creature it is, which also matters when morph or Song of the Dryads or clones are involved) had a replacement option to go to the CZ, but the other Mutated card doesn't, so just the Commander card gets to skip the 'yard.
After the "dies" change, they both hit the graveyard then the Commander physical card gets a state based action that offers to move it to the CZ. At that point it is also already separate from the thing it was Mutated over/under, so there's two reasons it doesn't take the other creature with it.
Either way, nothing offers to move the other mutated cards to the CZ, though Leadership Vacuum offers a weird corner case that can do it (though avoidable when Viscera Seer is involved, since it can sac itself).
Eric Funk Ah I see. I didn’t know there was a rules change involving mutate but it makes sense. I remember when it was first explained that if a creature died and the commander was part of the mutate stack, then everything would have to go the command zone and basically be exiled. I’m glad there was some update. Though it still seems very confusing
@@jameslaux2970 The mutate rule change isn't what makes this possible. Rule 903.9a does, which is why Brisela decks don't stop functioning the first time it dies.
that feel when you know ashen rider can exile lands
Oh I see, season COVID-19 secret theme was to skyrocket Jon and Jeremy to the lead while you cut Justin's leg everytime he tries to make a play to stop 'em.
Normally I am a fan of Stephen's role in the group, but this season he is just getting annoying. The entire season he is making the dumbest decisions just to result in spiting Justin and giving Jeremy and Jon an easy win.
It is starting to not get fun anymore to watch these episodes..
@@markhummel6703 This is exactly the issue. He needs to go and the team needs a meeting to learn how to play and make the smart plays and not the dumb petty plays.
@@HadesElderSage in the beginning of the season this exact thing did cross my mind. But the dynamic of the four of them (including Stephen) is usually amazing.
I am not sure how Justin or the rest feels about this season and if they're fine with the plays that has been made. A part of me tells me to stop whining and if those guys don't have a problem with it who am I to say anything, but CommanderVS has always been a joy to watch/binge. Mainly because of the good players and fun diverse decks.
I personally hope they do check these comments and try to see them as positive feedback. Stephen doesn't need to leave. All four of them indeed need to get together to work this out, because right now i'm just getting frustrated watching one of my favorite shows.
@@markhummel6703 It should be noted that it's generally harder to stay focused when playing remote and Stephen IMO doesn't have the longest attention span even when playing live so I think he easily gets fixated on Justin (and has even in paper) but is tuning out too often while others are going so he never alters his play like he's done in past seasons.
Stephen doesn't know how to play MTG anymore. Stupid decks, stupid techs and spiteful plays.
Once again jon balls out of control and stephen and jeremy do the his dirty work to keep parnell out of reach of doing anything about it. At least we got that first blood. #teamparnell
@@rob-8742 why cheat though? The stakes have never been lower
@@rob-8742 Wow, pretty amazing how Jon can see into the future so he can pick out the specific answers he'll need to set aside from his deck. What's his secret??
As an aside, to Stephen's question at 1:00:22, it would still have gotten a death trigger. The whole pile would have tried to go to the graveyard and the replacement effect would have pulled Nethroi out of the pile for Justin's choice, while the rest of the pile still went to the graveyard, triggering the Cavalier.
I am so glad I don't have a Stephen Green in my play group, a person who only plays for the memes and complains when you do one thing against him. Oh and when you try to voice your thoughts, he just interrupts you to say how you slighted him. Honestly Justin played quite a few decks I would have liked to see play, but unless Jon or Jeremy plays them we as viewers would not see them do anything. I would say Justin should play a boring deck to get to play, but with Green here I don't think he would do anything.
Our whole playgroup jokes weekly about how many dumb plays Stephen will make and often refer to bad plays in our games as pulling a Stephen.
I wholeheartedly agree with everything you have said. I want to watch sweet decks and smart plays, but it doesn't seem like everyone in the videos are capable of that.
Agreed, I hate it.
"haha, I'm playing lightning bolt tribal, I am so random and get upset if I can't cast my 7 mana bolt haha"
Jeremy plays it right imo, he mostly ignores Stephen lol
I am actually shocked that John wasn't running a bojuka bog in his [mono-white] deck... just to irritate Justin even further.
Possibly my favourite season so far. Great stuff :D
Jon again bringing the absolute heat with mono white golos! Great decks this season mr Suarez! MVP
Points screens had me in tears. What a great concept that is.
A fun stipulation i think might be fun. The commander is a character, not just the card. Each version of the character functions as a Partner.
Ex: Mirri can be played as an Abzan commander.
I really liked that Nethroi deck.
Honestly Jon could've gone much crazier if he just realized the gauntlet could've doubled his mana.
Lots of missed double mana chances in this batch.
This is my first ever comment. 1. Ashen Rider could have and SHOULD have hit that Cascading Cataracts the same turn it hit the Chromatic Lantern. 2. Stephen Green... Both Jeremy and Jon owe every win they have this season to your plays. Love you as a person, but it's getting a bit ridiculous. You're activating my PTSD from a play group member who I've done nothing to, but who sacrifices his own game to kill me first no matter what. Killing me.
Me and my best mate are like this too. We're cutthroat to each other, even in bigger pods, until someone else becomes the obvious threat.
couldn't agree more with this comment. I was full fledged #teamgreen, but now I can't stand his plays/decks/attitude during this season
I said this last week but Green needs to go. He and it seems John this season doesn't play to win with smart decisions but seem to just hate out justin... If things don't change between seasons this show will become unwatchable. Pettiness has become this groups motto and Green is the main factor of this. He needs to go. The group needs to have a long meeting about plays to win versus plays to not win and be petty. It has become too much.
You beat me to it. I was gonna comment the same thing for Ashen Rider
@@HadesElderSage I don't know about that, seems severe. Maybe he just needs a mom hug. #I believe in green (to change)
Threat assessment of this group is so backwards it hurts. #teamparnell
Happy to see that Kynaios and Tiro are being played during Pride Month.
I was giving thought to playing a different pride flavor commander during each pride month.

I love how they start arguing like children in the post game
"they" as in Stephen defending his terrible judgement and decisionmaking because he couldn't cast ember shot cause of gaddok teeg.
They are children
We all are
The threat assessment has been abysmal. Stephen’s emotional scooping has gotten old, now he plays a ridiculously substandard and uninteresting deck as another way to divest himself from the game and then stymies Justin when the threats are coming from Noell and Suarez. This was my favorite video to watch each week and I looked forward to it with anticipation. Now it’s just frustrating. There are really great decks being played here but if Justin is playing one, odds are we won’t get to see it play. I was under the impression that you gentlemen were professionals, as I watch this series devolve into petty group dynamics, grudging and in essence scooping that standard is far from the mark with what this series is becoming. Green is not the only one guilty of this folly. Sort it out.
Anyone ever notice that everyone elses decks are like 5 or 6 power but every John deck is like 10 or 11 power? Like he always seems to have a great board state and just never seems to play from behind or do anything o.0
Jon is a competitive player, more so than the others and leagues past Stephen.
Jon is a johney and a spike unfortunately it is very rare when the other players realize all of his decks have a few game ending combos in them
The damage from the mutated cavalier is actually commander damage, if a single piece of the creature is the general the whole creature is.
35:12 "Oufe there it is!" 😆🤣😂 someone help me I'm dying.
I've got a xira arien storm deck it would be fun to see yall play

Nice
I live for the Point-screen memes.
The beautiful photoshop of Patriarchs Bidding was immaculate, but the Go f*** yourself meme was priceless!
A way to get people to watch through the outro, would be to put the extra point screens in a slideshow at the end with some music, Critical role did it, and they saw huge increases to time-watched.
John could have been tapping his lands for double red with chromatic lantern. Gauntlet doesnt care about basic type just that the land is a basic and tapping for said color.
fun fact, if you add Scourge of the Skyclaves to the equation, Nethroi can get back 30 power or more of creatures, since Scourge's power is equal to 20 minus the highest life total among players, making him a -20/-20 if someone is at 40.
I honestly detested this season and am sick of Stephen going after Justin because it's his schtick. Zero threat assessment while Jon was finger on the trigger ready to blow everyone out.
Hopefully next season is better.
Last week was some reaaaally bad threat assessment, but that's always been the #CMDRVS way.
I like how Justin is good meme material lol
Love the episode but i do feel alil bad for Juston p but i just put together a crazy Goals deck myself so way to go John u did not get to do everything and hopefully some will play him and next season you guys are fun to wach
You guys should change seat order soon
Ah yes, another game of attack Justin
Butbut Gauntlet of Power works with Jonathan’s plains if he says they’re tapping for red mana - since it just says if a basic lands adds the selected color it adds an additional one - so much mana unused
Bring back hidden roles/secret themes, bonus points. that will help deviate the clear bs hate plays and is actually far more entertaining to watch than straight forward nonsense.
Justin, I gotta ask, are you having FUN? I mean I certainly hope that you are but this pod's aggression towards you week after week (in game, of course) seems to keep creeping! I'm seeing other folks are sharing my sentiments as well, don't let those jerks (whomst I also love) git ya down.
*ALSO thanks for another sweet game, I loved John and Justin's decks in particular. GGs.
It seems to vary from season to season and each season it seems they really get into themes. This seasons theme was load up on GY hate and make sure gy decks get dumpstered (which really hurt on what Justin likes to do). In addition, I feel like Justin found himself playing decks that were vulnerable to blowouts.
I just could write same comment as i did on last video but ... thats just a waste of time ... i see from comments that others noticed that this gameplay is toxic as it can be. Hope no new player take this as guideline how to play commander.
Well, Justin got to play some magic, but Golos was just too good. Great season guys. Looking forward to seeing the next one.
jon might have had the game anyway, but justin would have been able to put up more of a fight if stephen and jeremy weren't doing his dirty work.
At 1:03:20, could Justin have sacrificed (with Altar of Dementia) his Asher Rider to have gotten rid of the land Jon had to activate Golos? Or am I missing a piece of information?
Everyone tries to blame Stephen for targeting Justin, but what else was he supposed to do? He made impactful plays and even worked with him part of the game. He was playing a joke deck and people sandbagged him to even keep him in the game.
An episode where everyone ignores the main threat and Stephen does something to Justin for no reason? That's the first time that's ever happened before.
I think this season has been rallying support for #TeamParnell
why didnt justin just exile the cascading cataracts with ashen rider the same turn he exiled the chromatic lantern :((((
he didn't want to commit to that as well, probably hoping that 2 of the other players at the table would be useful in any way. But as usual they were just stooges for jon.
Yess! Return of the spicy point screen!!
Post game banter is 10/10
I'm 45 minutes in and see Justin was sick of getting dumped on the entire season. Yikes.
TBF, Justin started looping his commander's mutate ability every turn and had access to Ashen Rider to pair with it. That is spooky enough to warrant dunking him out of the game as every mutate has the potential to be game winning.
John's deck was pretty heckin sweet!
Thank you (Is my list)
To sum up season 19. Green needs to go.
They really need to meet up and talk about how to not play with such pettiness in every single action they make... Justin is just the brunt of the joke. The last episode with rakdos charm targeting Justin and not saved for Jeremy was the turning point to make changes. If they don't... This show will not see many more games. Please have a big meeting and go over every episode this season. This series is amazing but Green and the pettiness needs to go ASAP.
Lol na it's fine. I think you should just relax a little XD
Thank you, gentlemen, for the season.
Justin: I agree with many of the comments that you didn't get a fair shake or even time to have your decks shine. I would've enjoyed seeing more of your decks play out a bit longer.
Jonathan: In the last few games you've seemed more relaxed and it seems you're enjoying the game more. It's great to see! :)
Jeremy: I always enjoy watching you play and showcase some cards I have never seen played before. Thank you!
Stephen: Your personality certainly makes me laugh at some of the things that happen in the gameplay.
You're each appreciated. Thanks again! #teamgresuarell :)
I disagree on the Justin statement. I feel like his decks this season did have a chance to show what they were capable of but they all leaned into the graveyard and folks brought hate this season (as IMO all commander players should. Take a lesson from Return to Nature and start running gy hate like you do artifact and enchantment hate. It's pretty mandatory and if you play a GY deck, you need to know that you have potential to be blown out).
@@cinco_de_la_tarde Very good points. I need to learn to build my GY decks with ample protection, for sure.
Yo did anybody else here the facebook notification at about 17 minutes into the video? or am I crazy lol
This season Justin played BW decks. Next season I challenge you to play black themes in other colors. Red Aristocrats, life drain, blue zombies, green recursion
So pumped you are playing my deck Jeremy
Awesome
Jonathan read the comments
Yeah stopped watching at 137:16 literally just did a dark depths and field and john got unlocked and tutored a ton and they still hit the guy in last. Imagine having a point system and playing archenemy vs the guy with one of the worst board states and in last lol. Stephen must be so frustrating to play with lol
Jeremy, watching you miss triggers pains me. It happens so much
Well to be fair it's not his deck, still paying attention to your own Deck should be the least one does in a Commander Game
He is still new to the game, especially compared to the others in the group...but learning at a good pace. I think it's also hard to focus in the game when you're streaming and 1 player is just going off
He's been playing long enough. He misses triggers every game. He's just bad.
When is season 20? I can’t wait!
Stephen comes with a pocket knife to a bazooka fight
Does it not work if u kill a mutation commander all the card witb ur comander go to the comand zone and stay there for the rest of the game? Or has that changed now or was neva a thing?
Getting real tired of Justin getting target while others are clearly ahead of the game
This is probably the most painful season to watch. Stephan just sits there most games whining about how everyone targets him when he spends every episode doing everything in his power to stop Justin from doing anything even if it would be beneficial to Stephan.
Oh YEAH! Taco-Time is back #teamgreen! 1:32:29 "Listen, I'm about to get a taco." That's my man, way to go, I do like the way you play the Magics.......
To bad he is an idiot
I get alot of the comments here are sad that Juston was targeted so heavily and I get it, but playing Gaddok Teeg is not a good way to lower your threat level. I feel like one of the reason Steven kept stopping Justin from mutating was part fear he'd get locked out of the game if Justin returned those stax cards to play. Plus when Steven blew the board up with his Phoenix, he forgot John was phased out, which was his mistake but at least an understandable one.
I'm not saying there wasn't some bad threat assessment, particularly after Marit Large was in play, but I feel like people are making it out worse then it was. Just my opinion
Thanks for the laughs.
Jon: "Drannith Magistrate what a jerk"
Bro that card is literally so useful for commanders like Golos like what else are you going to do to the commander who half pays for his tax when he enters. That card was super necessary just like land destruction is, don't turn it in to taboo like all of the things that stop degenerate plays
Repeatedly having gattok teague in play and doesn't expect to die first and complains, ok...
Finally another episode!!!!!
I thought the soldier token was an Adam Sandler token lol
Why Justin is using the samurai photo for nethroi? xD
Justin should win purely because he's the only one with a hairline
Space force was a part of the branch of the airforce since before netflix existed. If they win rights to it, I'm going to push for copyright/trademark reform.
MonoWhite Golos is a thing AEHAEHHAE
idk what's going on with stephen this season but he's been kinda unusually spiteful and mean
Fortunately not as bad as the mill season.
Aw my points screen didn’t make it. I’ll keep trying
Stephen green makes bad plays again and again...and again...He just needs to go or improve his threat assessment.
Next Ten Seasons: the Quaran' Twenties
"I'm sure nothing bad will happen to me"
How long is a season? 10 episodes?
Steven needs to go he just attacks people saying well u attacked me and doesn't play the game with statagy at all he us a waste of space find someone who can play the game
Is Stephen playing in his bathroom? That echo though....
#teamblue I'd like to say I'm not biased, but hes playing the deck I main lol. I love nethroi so much, one of the most fun commanders I've played
at ruclips.net/video/BritQ47JcWw/видео.html how does the Extraplanar Lense give Jon the color filtering to activate Golos? It reads "any color that land produced", which in Jon's case is white. I'm just thinking I missed something.
I think that works and is really cool
@@gxantor I realize I missed the land he had that does the 5 color filtering. Very neat.
This channel is rammed with so much different content from different creators. Is there not a way you guys can have your own channel? I only subbed to watch your commander videos in the first place. Likely a no but worth a try lol
Jeremy with the threepeat.
Stephen's headphone is the same as mine (I bet you could not live without this crutial information)
I thought a mutated commander would take the other creatures to the command zone?
The new rules change states that commanders hit the graveyard or exile before status base effects where the payer gets to choose for it to go to command zone
Thanks that makes sence
my understanding is that this was never the case. not certain of the actual rules behind it, but im pretty sure only the commander can go to the command zone
#TeamSuarez
19:15 - Game starts
Why do you guys have a point system when you just play to kill Justin?
