- This is how to spot a scammer on Upwork
Upwork scams are everywhere on the platform. Learn how to identify Upwork Scams and avoid them.
Scammers usually join Upwork the same day the job is posted. This is because Upwork closes their accounts as soon as they spot them so they open new accounts and they post the job on the same day. Never do what I did asking the client how to contact them implies you want to chat outside Upwork and it is against the terms of their service. The green window that popped up was on Upwork App.

Each scammer who put a very easy job with more than 1000$ fixed price, it's 99% scam
They request you pay some cash to be able to receive your payment after the work done.
Yes they call it security fee😂😂

this lady was so impatient, she kept asking why Skrill was taking so long so she offered up WISE as an alternative solution and I said if I do that Chime might lock 🔐 my account

I literally got scammed by the exact same way, and lost more than 800$ because of this and on a holiday, stayed 0 for a few weeks and my holiday was ruined.

I've been approached by people on Facebook on my first day of searching of online job, and they made me make an account on Upwork and post about a job ,needless to say I got suspended the minute after I posted the job, I had no idea what happened and was worried and stumbled upon this video, now I'm feeling bad that I was being the part of scam unknowingly.😢😢

Even some verified accounts are scammers. I saw some verfied accounts with no hired freelancers inviting people to email this and that for the job info.
True. Some scammers have verified payment method, that's why you have to be vigilant and look for all signs of scam.
@@SmartWealthMakers right. I mean, they can discuss the job description, details, and contract in Upwork, so why do I need to email my personal info to someone I do not know. The smell of their scam is too strong. Newbies in Upwork are more likely the victims of thess scammers.

@@SmartWealthMakers no, they just invite people who submitted proposals and messaged them to email someone outside Upwork. I reported 4 clients last week and their job posts were removed.

sometimes payment unverified and new accounts does pay.. just like my client from the past.. but yeah if the payment is too good to be true, it's a huge redflag to begin with...but payment unverified and new account isnt necessarily a 100% redflag.... might be 50/50 or 70/30...
It's also bullshit we have to buy connects when we don't have enough connects to apply for jobs on upwork. Greedy upwork is already making a profit as a middle man between the client and the Freelancer. They just want to make more than their fair share because their greedy.
Sum bag upwork connects. Like gambling on job and get no job if you lost all of your connects. Also, If you do get a job, they'll cut you until your money dried

What about if they are payment verified, and phone number verified but with a 0 hire rate and just joined UW last Feb 14, 2024?
Are they offering a simple task for huge amount of money? If not apply and if they reply to you ask them to hire you on Upwork and start a contract.

Hello, interesting video. However it is important to remember that UPwork advice that all the comunication before accepting a contract Should be on the chat on UPwork and not outside from UPwork. Due to have more security in the pay and evidence of everyting previously to the job. All Freelancers should keep in mind that always.

Told me to contact their project manager. After I submitted my work the manager gave another link which includes my pay ment. It says translink inc. They told me to create an account and send a screenshot of it .

Check other videos on this channel: ruclips.net/video/L2IGqpLFLqw/видео.html. As a rule, on scammers' job post, you see easy job and high pay. They ask you to communicate out of Upwork and they don't hire you on Upwork.

No scammers on Upwork aren't necessary hackers who can access your bank account details unless you give them the details yourself. On Upwork they make you do some random work then ask you for a shady way to send money back to them.
They will hire you after you pay before working, then they will block you.

Apply to clients who have payment verified and previous hiring and 4-5 star reviews only. And if you apply and the client asks you to communicate outside Upwork. You know they are most likely not a genuine client.

Either they are using someone else legit account or they add some payment method to convince the victim. Simply avoid to chat outside Upwork with a new client.

If they hire you and they fund the project in escrow they are genuine. If not they are scammers.

Not all clients are indians and so the possibility of paying via upi is bleak. Moreover reframe from gettinv payment outside of the platform

I wouldn't accept to send them verification ID. Ask them to start a contract on Upwork, if they refuse, just move on. They will waste your time. Goodluck

They don't. Upwork removes them as soon as they detect them.

Ask them to hire you on Upwork with a contact, if they refuse, they are more likely to scam. Please don't fall for the trap.
Yesterday I got a job from upwork he is giving me typing work of 30 pages for that he will be going to pay me 1500 dollars. And today i got an email from upwork that the job is being removed from upwork due to violation of term of service. When i contact with my client and told him about this email he told me that as he received so many proposals for that job he removed the job from upwork. I ask him that i want payment on netbanking on paytm wallet he agrees should i do that job
I wouldn't accept if I were you, Upwork removed their job because it is a scam. No one will pay you $1500 for typing 30 pages. It is a whole month salary in many countries or many months salary in others. You can agree at your own risk. You will most likely waste your time and get disappointed.
