  • Update 07/21/23: The adjustment nut weld has broken yet again. This product is not recommended. If you're looking for a quality rear stand, consider spending a bit more and going up market.
Buying the cheapest rear stand you can find is not always the best value, but not all of us have the funds to splurge on the beefiest, cadmium-plated goodness. We turned to Vortex, a brand known to us for their great combination of design, durability, and pricing. It wasn't all smooth sailing and over time we regretted our purchase. Sadly, with the @OfficialVortexRacing rear stand, it seems you can choose to have loose spool adapters or broken welds.
Pros: large diameter wheels, sturdy materials, high quality finish
Cons: excessive lift effort, poor welds, no assembly directions

I just got one of those vortex Stan's and it came with a level. I wanted to know if you're Did or not

It did! And I have no idea why. Any guesses on your end?

BTW, I would return it while you still can. I had my second broken nut weld after seven months of use. Woodcraft here I come.

good review and assembly, guess ya don't know your own strength eh? I also really like Woodcrafts stands, especially their front.

I hear good things about those too. I wish the Vortex rear was as good as their front.

I get how you’d assume some dude on RUclips led you astray, but these stands are terrible for that very reason. I eventually snapped mine twice. Check out Woodcraft instead-they’re so much better.

Sounds good… wasn’t trying to be a dick. Good looking out. I removed the thumbs down. Have a good week.

Thanks man. Sorry that happened to you too. I contacted the reseller and they had Vortex send out a new leg, and I just barely tightened it but it kept slipping and eventually it broke yet again. Woodcraft’s are practically bulletproof and much easier to use because they don’t lift the rear 6” in the air-you can adjust them to only as much as you need. I don’t get compensated by them, they just make great products. I used to say that about Vortex.

Thinking about your situation, here’s another option for you. Get the seller to replace the broken part for you. This time when you set it up, don’t install the spool bracket bolts. Lift your bike and mark the position of the bolt holes on the spool brackets. Set the bike back down, remove the brackets, and drill holes at your marks just slightly larger than the bolt threads. Reassemble and now the bolts will hold the brackets in place through shear forces rather than friction. They won’t be adjustable anymore, but they shouldn’t keep breaking.
