From seeing this I wish there were more varied attacks for palkia to like time blip across the field same could be for palkia. the thing they don't use their signature moves is weird but I guess palkia can't even do it without arms. And why does Palkia not use spacial rend in the pre fight animation but generic purple beam.
I can honestly say I never thought there was any Pokémon design that was out right bad but Palkia’s design here… Saying it looks like a bad fan design would be cruel for bad fan designs.

Considering that this game takes place in the very distant past compared to DPP, I’d assume the legendaries end up getting released or something between this game and DPP. Giratina’s appearence makes sense by default as it wasn’t in a ball but was instead directly summoned from the Distortion World.
the hardest noble pokemon for me was avalugg, I was impressed when I saw the how easy it is the final battle And at least this battle was better than simply spamming A to a hand until the dogs appear and win the battle instantaneously
My idea for an addition to these bossfights are ads. Maybe like Unknown come in or some type of fodder pokemon that can disrupt you if you ignore them. I think my biggest disappoinment here is you dont face them in traditional battle but its just the new boss mechanics.
facing both at the same time would probably make it more difficult to avoid their moves, since they leave hazards on the floor... but as it is, it's really just jumping left and right...barely no timing required

Wish those boss battles were harder. They seem like a good challenge at first but after seeing every move once its almost impossible to get hit. Avalugg was a bit harder imo.
It would of been nice if they incorporated their trademark time and space abilities into the fight like maybe dialga rewinds time to bring back some health or palkias draco meteors suddenly changes direction before impact. Basically something that makes the fight more unique.
Give monster hunter a shot. The boss battles felt like watered down monster hunter. Hardest battle for me was lilligant. That one i felt required the most dodging and listening to what actions were going to occur
yeah but primal dialga is actually weaker than base dialga which was explained why he lost against 2 unevolved starters. He actually had less power and control in his primal state

It’s sad when you realize they effectively mutilated Palkia and Dialga’s designs here so they could do LESS work and essentially copy & paste the exact same boss fight onto two separate Pokémon so their animations would match.
To be fair I’m pretty sure Dialga and palkia were supposed to be going for a more eldritch monster design and they also look like this to look more like arceus and supposedly get stronger although they lose the ability in using their signature move as well. I don’t know just my thoughts.

I’ve seen some gameplays and the game doesn’t look BAD, but rather mediocre, especially taking into account games like Breath of the Wild and Astral Chain are also on the switch, which have much more satisfying exploration and combat respectively (and it goes without saying they also have much nicer visuals)
They’re pretty bad designs, but I can’t help but think that’s the point. They tried to be more like their creator, Arceus, to obtain more power and strength, yet in exchange, they lost the ability to properly use their signature moves. Palkia loses its arms which prevents it from properly manipulating / bending space to its will with Spacial Rend. Dialga has this weird thing obstructing its throat which prevents it from commanding the flow of time properly with its Roar of Time. While they are cool concepts, it doesnt excuse the actual designs itself though, but it is what it is in the end.
Honestly dont like the designs still even in motion.... Its like someone in gamefreak were like "You know maybe those nerds who think biblically accurate angels are the only way to depict gods are right"
It feels like they made them both become four legged so that they can re use the same animations. Because Dialga looks terrible but you can definitely see whereits coming from, but Palkia just looks bad and the centaurmotif comes outof nowhere(btw i dont really know why they become like that id love to know)
I don't care what people think about this battle. I think it was really awesome and I always tried to imagine how it would be to battle Palkia and Dialga that way.
Not going to lie I was put off at first at the Lord forms but they grew on me. I mean they are gods so it makes sense for their true forms to lool abstract to us because they are beyond logic and understanding. As for why horses, Palkia Lord dex entry says the form is an imitation of Arceus.

SPOILERS!! If you picked the Pearl clan. You'll fight normal Palkia. Then Origin Dialga. Pick the Diamond clan: You'll fight Normal Dialga, then Origin Palkia.
What? They ponyfied these legendaries? For what purpose even? I'm of the mind that these should have been in Galar along with all the other new pony legendaries from there. What is a centaur-like monster with shoulders and torso but no arms?
Aside from the deigns(that I hate, thanks gamefreak)... only I find these two boss fights... trash? The best the god of time and space can do is... standing still and spamming draco meteor? REALLY? I want to fight fucking za warudo.
I did end up losing the first time, won the 2nd time, restarted it because I wanted to at least have the pokemon battle, lost 3 more times, and then beat it. Honestly. I really liked this fight, but I can see why it was disappointing. The best way I wouldn't have fixed it would have been to not have the health bar go down so fast if the player was spamming balms. Just so they could get 1 to 2 pokemon battles in. But that's just me.
I first saw the Arceus fight and thought it looked like a knockoff of the boss fight with Mustache Girl lol. That one is faster and has more particle effects and different attacks and there's characters all around the arena cheering and sending out health...
What is the reason for having 2 "different" bosses if you are gonna fight the same one? At least change the attacks of each, they aren't the same Pokemon... I knew the game gonna be unpolished as hell with the time they have to make it, but mobile games have better to offer than this and some are for free...
does the whole game look like this on the one hand its a step up from sword in effort, and i want to like it, and the cutscenes look alright, at least here (the throw in the intro is welldone, the player character is expressive, etc) on the other hand, its just so basic Palkia is animated in battle, but still stiff (spends a lot of the fight standing still or posing, etc. id expect it to be more mobile, or at least like its actually trying) The trainer just doesnt look fun to control, at least here For a final boss, "throw balls at it and run around until it dies" is just underwhelming I dunno

Unlike most, I do like the origin forms of dialga and palkia, it's forms they took when Arceus created them, their bodies haven't had the chance to develop into what we know, I like the uncanny look they have, it makes sense since they are gods. The strange body proportions and missing limbs honestly just make it better in my opinion, their bodies filled with godly energy from Arceus, they morphed into forms that were able to store that energy.

I think an easier way to improve Palkia would be to move the shoulder pad things to the front legs. It'd look more natural.

Prolly be Electrode for me. The fact that the Wee Wee electric balls chasing you makes the fight difficult
I felt avalugg was the easiest of all the was no room to run around so logically the projectiles were far easier to dodge

I’ve seen some gameplays and the game doesn’t look BAD, but rather mediocre, especially taking into account games like Breath of the Wild and Astral Chain are also on the switch, which have much more satisfying exploration and combat respectively (and it goes without saying they also have much nicer visuals)
Astral Chain is not a fair comparison since beat em up combat is it's sole focus, atleast BOTW had enemies with varied attacks/behaviour

No they don't. The switch just isn't powerful enough and gf didn't optimise it enough to be able to make it look better without frame drop issues

They’re pretty bad designs, but I can’t help but think that’s the point. They tried to be more like their creator, Arceus, to obtain more power and strength, yet in exchange, they lost the ability to properly use their signature moves. Palkia loses its arms which prevents it from properly manipulating / bending space to its will with Spacial Rend. Dialga has this weird thing obstructing its throat which prevents it from commanding the flow of time properly with its Roar of Time. While they are cool concepts, it doesnt excuse the actual designs itself though, but it is what it is in the end.
Their "final forms" being nerfed makes no sense, especially context wise in the game
Honestly dont like the designs still even in motion.... Its like someone in gamefreak were like "You know maybe those nerds who think biblically accurate angels are the only way to depict gods are right"
It feels like they made them both become four legged so that they can re use the same animations. Because Dialga looks terrible but you can definitely see whereits coming from, but Palkia just looks bad and the centaurmotif comes outof nowhere(btw i dont really know why they become like that id love to know)

Not going to lie I was put off at first at the Lord forms but they grew on me. I mean they are gods so it makes sense for their true forms to lool abstract to us because they are beyond logic and understanding. As for why horses, Palkia Lord dex entry says the form is an imitation of Arceus.
It’s crazy to me people actually were expecting some dark souls type boss battles. I was just hype for the fact I’m literally fighting a Pokémon n not just my own

I love Vanilluxe, Garbodor and Klefki. But please don't allow James Turner to remain as the lead art director, he's only fine for a couple of designs, not as the one who steers the entire ship of a generation. (He wasn't art director on Legends though, from what I've heard).
The boss battle is the opposite of the clan you pick right? I want to make sure I fight Palkia instead of Dialga.

I did end up losing the first time, won the 2nd time, restarted it because I wanted to at least have the pokemon battle, lost 3 more times, and then beat it. Honestly. I really liked this fight, but I can see why it was disappointing. The best way I wouldn't have fixed it would have been to not have the health bar go down so fast if the player was spamming balms. Just so they could get 1 to 2 pokemon battles in. But that's just me.

I first saw the Arceus fight and thought it looked like a knockoff of the boss fight with Mustache Girl lol. That one is faster and has more particle effects and different attacks and there's characters all around the arena cheering and sending out health...
Honestly, I just wish Palkia wasn't amputated. Going full Centaur with it's design would have made it look so much cooler.

I knew the game gonna be unpolished as hell with the time they have to make it, but mobile games have better to offer than this and some are for free...

on the one hand its a step up from sword in effort, and i want to like it, and the cutscenes look alright, at least here (the throw in the intro is welldone, the player character is expressive, etc)
on the other hand, its just so basic
Palkia is animated in battle, but still stiff (spends a lot of the fight standing still or posing, etc. id expect it to be more mobile, or at least like its actually trying)
The trainer just doesnt look fun to control, at least here
For a final boss, "throw balls at it and run around until it dies" is just underwhelming

if anything, while the old pokemon formula is tired and derivitive, at least it didnt fail to create tension in-game this hard

Unlike most, I do like the origin forms of dialga and palkia, it's forms they took when Arceus created them, their bodies haven't had the chance to develop into what we know, I like the uncanny look they have, it makes sense since they are gods.
The strange body proportions and missing limbs honestly just make it better in my opinion, their bodies filled with godly energy from Arceus, they morphed into forms that were able to store that energy.
This is why I hate when people judge before they think.

Theres a theory that Palkias arms are absent so it cant use special rend and Dialgas throat is blocked so it cant use roar of time.
that theory was debunked because they can still use those moves lol. wouldve been interesting otherwise
