I think I see an RV-8 in your future Bobby. The grin on your face.
Michael you are here too wow!
of course. this is one of my fav aviation channel :)
Me too!
Using the airplane for work. Wake up and oh darn I have to fly today. Can’t think of a better way to start the day!
Another great video from Flying Doodles. Enjoying the interviews and learning about all the different planes. Wtg B & L!
You KNOW it's a fun plane, when Bobby has that HUGE grin going !
Nice camera work. The landing was beautifully interesting. What fun it must be to wear that bird like a suit.
Great flight with an outstanding plane. Awaiting the next video. Shalom
Evelyn was both my dad and grandfather's flight instructor. I have met her several times. Amazing lady!
Very nice aircraft and flight thanks for taking me along.
The feel of a fighter jet wow! I really enjoyed this video
Thanks Gary and Bobby.VERY nice plane. Tough when your biggest problem is slowing down to land! HA!
What a great plane! Thanks for sharing.
Great video, love the people aspect of your videos. Keep em coming.
I'm quickly becoming an RV - Fan! Nice Airplane Gary! Good to see another Doodles Video Bobby! Thumbs UP!
They are great airplanes. Vans makes an RV for pretty much everything. We have the RV-10 and love it. It works perfectly for our family of 4. If you want to do aerobatics there’s an RV for you, if you want a family plane there’s an RV for you, and the whole RV series performs amazingly.
I was so touched, Garry, how you inadvertently got into flying. A real beaut story! Thanks Bobby and Laura for sharing the stories with the folks you meet, as you always do. Thanks so much. You seem to enjoy and channel ( pardon the pun!) both aviation and sailing - so it kinda fits my bill big-time.
What are you selling, brother ? What business u do? Garry, the flying salesman.
Best insightful and honest video I have seen. I am ready to fly after seeing this video. Thank You
I met Gary last year when I was held over in Troutdale. I was being an airport bum, hanging out at the airport walking around looking at airplanes and he was cleaning on it in the hanger. Nice guy and it is a beautiful aircraft!
Guys living his best life. Amazing dude
Nice. Obviously you like that plane, but no room for the Doodles! Seriously just more great stuff. Thanks!
Nice pilot. Nice aeroplane. Thanks for posting.
Hey your video was crystal clear, i enjoyed watching on my TV.
Great video Bobby and a huge thanks to Gary for the ride ! What a fun little airplane ! I’ll have to watch for you Gary, when you are here in the BNA area. Safe skies ! 🇺🇸🛫
Wow this airplane is beautiful! Very nice job.
I have watched a few videos similar to the RV-8. It is truly an amazing airplane for what it has to offer. It is the complete package in every sense of the word. I can find nothing lacking in the airplane. I am sure MojoGrip watched the video closely, since he is going experimental which is great. The performance. efficiency, fuel economy, maintenance puts it in a class of it's own! An extremely impressive airplane!
Beautiful plane! I’m green with envy. Enjoy 😊!
RV yes! So excited to see this video.
Joined! Been a member for years. Always grateful!
What a cool little plane! Great video
SUPER TOP QUALITY ... Thanks !!!
Beautiful plane , thank you for sharing
My wife’s cousin’s husband built an RV-8A in the early 2000’s. I helped a little during a couple of visits, and helped rivet the main spar. As it was his second plane, he pretty much did the whole build from scratch (His first was a Murphy Rebel.). I got to fly in the RV a couple of times. It was a sweet little plane.
The 8 & 4 are the best Vans designs of all, I’ve owned both. The 8 was great all round but the 4 was just a little sweetie, light, nimble and fast looking 👍🛩
Nice video. Hope you are having fun.
Welcome to Oshkosh Wisconsin and EAA. I saw Laura's Instagram postings this afternoon. I'm just north of you in Neenah, WI. Plan on coming to EAA on Saturday but might go on Wednesday also.
Pretty little girl Gary , and for a 360 she's a rocket !!! . Thanks for sharing .
Thats a damn good pilot in a great aircraft!
super cool video to watch, I fly out of Morristown. I'll have to keep an eye out for Gary
Fantastic camera angles.
Thanks for showing the baggage area. So many videos skip such an important information point for some reason.
Nice landing!
Hey bobby my mate has rv 7 that he built he planes for 180knts and it has 180 hp great plane to fly thanks for another great video, and we are in oz cya
I have flown on a RV8 a few times, what a great plane
So awesome!! Want to build one so bad!
This guy is smart. He knows quality aircraft and he cares about his family enough to teach them how to get it back on the ground.
Super stuff!🔥😎
Very nice RV-8A and video. Now tell us about the beast in the back of the hangar. Queen Air with IO-720's Excaliber Conversion. With 8 cylinders per side it sounds like it means business.
Can I just say... your aviation videos are really fantastic. It's cool to hear about the owner or pilot, then its really great to go for a "test flight". And you are not prejudiced about what kinds of airplanes you fly, which makes it even more fun... you cover everything. Keep it up, man.
Really nice looking runway there in Morristown
All 8s are tandem seating, the 'A' denotes nosewheel vs. tailwheel.
Why would anyone want to spend over ten times the cash buying an aircraft by large manufacturers that go far slower than a good used RV8, have far less economy and cost a fortune to maintain? This and other Vans aircraft are the true common man's aerial transport. Lovely aeroplane. Beautiful landscape to fly over. Thumbs up!
A used Cessna costs a whole lot less than a new RV8, but it won't fly as well, or as fast though.
Awesome! Miss Evelyn gave me my PPL check-ride!
Yes, you can do all the maintenance. And repairs. Just need an A&P to do the annual condition report.
I got to fly in this when John Barger was alive in Pueblo, CO. Awesome airplane!
That’s awesome! Wish I knew him. He built a great plane that I use all the time.
I would love to get an RV-anything someday. Van's makes some very nice aircraft.
That was funny " Some of you don't know about phone books" So true 😊
home made aircraft ? wow amazing
Are you in Oshkosh? Heading up there tomorrow, did not see any events on your web page, would be great to meet you!
Those guys at Vans RVs Knows how to make fast nice good looking aircrafts
Very nice plane
I hope to add to that 1500 built number one day. Im in love with the Vans RV 8 and the Cessna 177 Cardinal. Maybe one day i can own both.
You have great taste. I own a 177B (and love it), but if I ever downsize, it’s an RV-8 for sure.
👍👍 Awesome job Bobby, U R An awesome videographer!! Keep'em coming!!😀😎👏✌️🆒☑️☮💙🇺🇸🇺🇸
I wish a T206HD would cruise at 175, fat chance. As for the video, beautiful day for flying. Just beautiful !
Rocking the beard! Love it! You coming out to Oshkosh this year?
Bobby Doodle is now a unofficial member of ZZ TOP! Laura loves it! It tickles!!!
Nice plane.
reminds my of my helping build an RV-3...the 8's older smaller brother.
That thing is gorgeous. The price is what got me. An expensive toy. Like a Porsche. So niiccceeee!!!!
Great content and RV8 is a very nice looking homebuilt. What kind of camera did you use? The video is so clear and sharp and the colors are so vivid without looking over saturated.
wow so beautiful.
Beautiful, but I noticed you don’t fasten shoulder belts, is It intended?
That's the funniest private pilot trainee story I've ever heard. I would have loved to have her as my instructor when I was working on my private.
Rv8 is the way to go it seems...fast built easy to fly....very good speed...
Would like to see you make a video showing the life of a Pilot who flys Skydivers in a Twin Otter, King Air, Skyvan, CASA etc and Laura does a Tandem Skydive.
Lolol, What he start talking about the kid's, he literally hit close to home! I immediately start laughing!
Awesome video, I really enjoyed it and I'm not complaining, but could he not have ripped off just one barrel roll? It is an rv.
Bobby. how about a video regarding the gear you use when flying and when sailing. camera(s), mounting(s), mike(s), software etc. Thanks get work on both channels
Why do you have dual GPS? Run one of them to a splitter for multiple EFIS
At 6:30 he is incorrect, you can work on an experimental without an A&P. You will need one for the yearly conditional inspection only.
But I think he said he is not the original builder. It's my understanding only the original builder gets the repairman certificate.
@@BobPritchard You only need the repairman certificate to sign off the annual conditional inspection.
Bob Pritchard
True, there’s only one repairman certificate that’s ever issued to an experimental aircraft, but it has nothing to do with “repairing”...or doing any maintenance on the aircraft. The name “repairman’s certificate” is definitely misleading...I think it should be called something like the “condition inspection” certificate. So, if you didn’t build the airplane there’s only two people that can sign off on the annual condition inspection...1. The original holder of the repairman’s certificate and 2. An A&P. But once again, if it’s your airplane and you’re confident enough in your own mechanical skills, then you have every right to do as much work as you like on your airplane.
I was going to say the same. He can most definitely perform work on that plane. I upgrade my RV-6 quite often and I'm the fourth owner. Just get the A&P to sign off your yearly Condition Inspection.
RV-8s are great aircraft, but you need a ride in a Harmon Rocket,
Do MORE Rv's!
The nose wheel landing gear is not for landing on, it is just to keep the nose of the deck when taxing after landing :-)
Awesome. The 8A is the coolest of the RVs. Tricycle gear, low stall speed, high cruise speed, +7g and -3g. Oh yeah!
Na RV 8
@@carlwilliams1570 Tricycle over taildragger any day. CG behind main gear and rudder pedal tap dance after touchdown not for me.
wish my school had that elective!
If you are maneuvering, don't be at a vfr or ifr cruising altitude. If below 2500agl, do not be at a vfr cruising altitude. Nice video, great plane.
175kts cruising ?
Holy shit dude, you are moving moving
Yeah gonna write down that aircraft on my list for sure
and burning less than 10 gal/hr at that
Shame you can’t take it international
@@5000mahmud sure you can.. why can’t you?
Looks much better as a tail wheel
Hey that third wheel is on the wrong end of the plane! :)
I agree, the 8A just does not look good but then again I am partial to my taildragger 8. tthn
Boring. Juvenile. Hardly original.
@@petesmith9472 You need to seriously lighten up, Pete. Chill. Some like blonds some like brunets. Some like taildragger, some like nosedraggers.
Studio RV8 ?..all true. Which is why it is always such a predictable, boring and juvenile argument/discussion. The poor bugger's plane is obviously his pride and joy and rightly so. Why bother with a comment that's designed to inflate your ego at the expense of his joy.
@@petesmith9472 Pete, take a deep breath, lighten up and enjoy the day.
The 8 is the best Vans design, as long as it's conventional U/C😉
I like the Rv,s but, if i build, i have an itch for the mustang ll
I like the RV-8 with tail wheel looks good but I'm sure not that fun when you want to land in a crosswind. I would not say they are cheap from kit to flying looking at around 100k if you include paint, and tools that's not even quickbuild. Best to find a half built kit buy at a discount still get the repairman's certificate.
"This is actually an RV8A tricycle gear version. So not an actual airplane. " -Sarcastic tailwheel pilot.
GeneralChangOfDanang I was about to comment that the little wheel is on the wrong end.
How much tail wheel time do you have? What airplanes?
Jon Johansen is likely one of Vans most qualified and record breaking pilots and representatives. He has about 7000 hours in his owner built Vans' tail draggers. He is now building an rv8A and says he's tiring of the long cock competition that drives the tail wheel nose wheel argument. He has a point: it is juvenile, clichéd and boring.
TheLZisTooHot .....every modern airplane is a nose wheel....can't help if you're living in the past. BUT you're SOOOOO TALENTED flying tailwheel. The aviation community bows to your brilliance
I have an RV-8. Considered the RV-8A initially, but decided to go with the taildragger out of concern for the robustness of the nosewheel design. I'm more comfortable with the taildragger for unpaved runways. They're both fantastic airplanes whichever way you go.
What a great fun aircraft for so little of an investment! Just where were you on this flight Bobby? I didn't recognize the name "Morristown" let alone the topography!
Edward Grant KMOR in east TN
F-16 bubble canopy!
Per NPR, at the time of her death (age 102) Mama Bird had flown more than any pilot. She was also a helicopter pilot.
She was an amazing woman to learn from!
Nice RV! One clarification on the maintenance rules, with Experimental Amateur Built aircraft, anyone can do any maintenance activity on the plane but a person must hold a repairman certificate for the plane or be an A&P to sign off the annual condition inspection. That being said, just because you can does not mean you should.
Very true. Should always know what you’re doing... well at least understand what you’re doing
Landing just past the 1000 foot markers is great, especially on a 5700 foot runway. Great landing by the pilot. But the back-seater saying "Right on the numbers!" sounded a bit funny to me.
if you listen to the very next words out of his mouth, he corrects himself and says "err right on the center line"
What brand are your sunglasses? Already hit the LIKE button!
Ray Ban Wayfarer and thanks!
What's that new-fandangled wheel on the nose for?
Samuel Greer training wheel😂
You need to see if jim pratt in Dallas will do a video in his RV. He builds them in his hanger
Which airport in Dallas? There are about 6 major ones. I'd like to see if he'll sell me a hand built.
Google his name. He helps owners build them and runs a workshop.
The person's name is Jay Pratt. And he's based near Fort Worth.
Bobby; weren’t you flying either G-III’s or G-IV’s?
What is the reference to 2.5? “Manoeuvring at 2.5”.
Sweet RV, but is there an inside joke I'm missing out on with the 'landing gear' switch?
No, the guys that owned it prior didn't want to get out of the habit of checking the gear lights,so he put them in
