  • Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud said that he’d rather have Eli Manning’s career over Aaron Rodgers’, saying that “you want the rings. Eli has 2”. Craig Carton believes this is a shot at Aaron Rodgers, and that the QB shouldn’t compare Eli or Matthew Stafford to Aaron.

So, what we're really doing is comparing those two Giants-Eli Super Bowl years to the total playoff career of one Aaron Rodgers. So, let's look at what the numbers actually say and see what the truth is here:
Between the 2007 and 2011 Super Bowl Championship teams, the average defensive PPG allowed by the Giants defense was a combined, 15.
In all 18 of the Packers playoff games from 2008-2019, the Packers defense averaged 27 PPG allowed.
That's an average of a full 12 points difference in favor of those Giants teams... That's not close.
Eli had the avengers on his defenses. Rodgers WAS and had to CARRY his teams as far as he could year-in, year-out. Something Eli could never do because the Giants didn't even make the playoffs most years. That 2011 season, he led the Packers to a 15-1 record with the second-worst ranked defense in the NFL. They won all those games because he was putting up Patrick Mahomes-esque numbers. Their strategy was simply, let our superstar QB carry all of us to glory. They couldn't sustain that model of success forever. Especially with that monster team the Giants had that year. But ultimately, it comes down to this: you could certainly make a case that Eli had the better CAREER, but there is no case to be made for who was the better QB. Eli has no MVPs, no all-pros, led the NFL in interceptions twice, was not anywhere close to being as physically gifted and he was never really mentioned in top-5 discussions like Rodgers was. The better QB is, and always will be, Aaron Charles Rodgers.

@@brandon_925 ok, im enjoying this convo. now here is why I say that those numbers are a bit misleading. most of them are longevity or iron man stat padding numbers.
lets start at eli was never, and I mean once even an all pro. the only category that he ever led quarterbacks in is interceptions(3x), literally nothing else for an entire career, and outside those two super bowl miracle runs was a whole, whole, lot of futility. mainly because he didn't have legendary defenses to do most of the heavy lifting for him.
so it's clear to me that a ring holds weight you. so let me ask you, would you say that steve young is a better all time qb than dan marino?

a team ( the Giants) that is perennially bad has no chance to randomly win two superbowls. a team that is perennially good (the Packers) could easily randomly win a Superbowl. That is what the statistics suggest.....

Overrated Eli got 2 fluke Super Bowl Rings. And nobody cares about his sorry career. 12 on goat 🐐 status know as one of the great ones. Mt Rushmore. Eli can keep his 2 fluke rings but keep Eli out of the hall of fame

Eli Manning is one of the most OVERRATED players in NFL history! He led the league in INTs multiple seasons and was an average QB. Literally .500 on the nose for his career! One of the best defensive fronts collectively in league history carried him in two playoff runs. If not for the luckiest play you’ll see by David Tyree he’s only got 1 SB and would get the deserving Dilfer or Johnson treatment. Rodgers is the better player OBVIOUSLY but he’s choked away some big playoff moments. The 3 INT Bucs loss was bad bad! But would you rather be a 2x SB champ viewed largely as average and nowhere near the G.O.A.T. debate or a 1x SB champ with 4 MVPs and viewed similarly to Marino as one of the best pure passing QBs to ever play that didn’t win enough and in the very outside fringes of G.O.A.T. debates because your skill and talent are UNDENIABLE if you watch tape and know football?! It’s obvious to me and I’m not even an Aaron Rodgers fan….

Crazy with ALLLLLL those stats he still took two rings from prime Brady
Rodgers couldn't beat 40 yr old Brady in a game he threw 3 INTs in 😂😂
