As a train buff of many many years great to see trains operating where I used to live. The town mentioned in the first clip is known as Leonora which is named after a large hill in the district, which in turn is named after early explorer Sir John Forrest`s wife. When I lived there as a kid steam was being phased out replaced by a weekly diesel service from Kalgoorlie. The steam service used to take all day to do the trip to Kal because the original 3ft 6inch line condition was very very poor and the locos not much better. Thanks again for the video.
Another great vid Matt, brings back great memories of our trip to WA in 2019, unfortunately we had to cancel our trip to WA this year, buggar, however thanks for the memory. regards Bill in lockdown Victoria (Again)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Greetings from Birmingham UK. New to YT. Great video, thanks. Like the commentary captions, very informative as intended. I was wondering about weight of the train, and there was the answer, brilliant!! Have subbed to watch more!!! 🙂🙂
Great video as always. The empty ore train was very impressive, 100 79t capacity wagons between the train locos and the DPU with another 52 behind. The total length must be around 3000m. Anthony
That's because they're the same! The model of locomotive is the Downer EDI Rail GT46C which were made between 1997 & 2003. 24 were produced with 19 being Q classes made for Westrail, 4 FQ class made for Freightlink and 1 being V544 made for Freight Australia. The first 19 Q classes are all Aurizon owned and operated now and V544 along with the 4 FQ's being owned and operated by One Rail Australia. Matt - M&S Trains
Great compilation of varied operations, the Aurizon engines always appear to be quiet clean in contrast to the other operators. Are any of these trains Driver Only? Especially enjoyed the Rawlinna WA clip, was there a couple of times around three years back, interesting location.
The locomotives are hired out to MRL Resources for use on these services. The crews are provided by Pacific National for these trains. Matt - M&S Trains

I like the way you say "much needed supplies" to Western Australia.. It's like we're desperate and dying over here 😂😂
Beer is taken over on the train, so I stand by "much needed" ;)

You're so good. Greetings from a danish rail enthusiast

The total length is only around 1800 meters I believe. It's the network limit I've been told.
Still very impressive as you said!!

Great video. Thank you.
It was odd seeing double stack trains outside of North America, but really cool. It's a massive market here in the United States
Loved the ore train. US railroads use DPU'S on a regular basis.
Very Nice!
great video, keep grabbing them
Fantastic video
Nice one mate !
Excellent video as always Matt. At 4:25 I'd love to know the reasoning behind that strange little diversion in the main line they have there.
Thanks Doug! As would I. Did think it was slightly strange but lucky no highspeed trains to worry about.

Looks good!
Q class looks like an ORA FQ class, makes sense in a way, both have the Q in it.

Who employs the drivers if there is three different loco owners.?

Gee whiz.
Our ore trains over here in England are much longer and faster than yours,we are so far advanced than you blokes.
You should get a few bites from those who don't recognise irony.

Yeah mate, you should do your research
Your trains parr in comparison to the trains in the US. You shouldn't judge other people or countries. It's very disrespectful
Yes, we've seen how advanced your dental system in the UK is 😂
