Em's amazing flow, syllables, cadences, assonances, story telling, message, the way he was able to draw a parallel between his real life and Jimmy Smith Jr., and just intensity and raw emotion /passion is what makes the original an all time untouchable classic.
Lupe's ability to create these chain metaphors and triple entendres is what makes his version a masterpiece, along with his own incredible syllable game also.
However, Em did pave the way, also made the beat too, so edge goes to him.

As far as Eminem fans go, I'm a Stan... but Lupe definitely killed it on this track. I strive to be as good a lyricist as them
Lupe is my favorite rapper for myriad reasons.
First and foremost is his almost unparalleled lyrical genius. Metaphors that of which reminisce a English Professor.
Lose Myself is a legendary track, but this...this is fuckin incredible.

I enjoy both versions and find this to be an interesting interpretation, my only criticism is missing that iconic hook.
Lupe`s delivery on this beat is amazing but he simply can`t match Em`s energy the same way Em couldn`t touch Lupe on his trademark songs
They`re good enough to ride any beat almost flawlessly but their energy is different

Is still debatable. I believe Lupe's Version was definately more lyrical. And he actually was spitting with some conviction and passion which i wish he would do alot more often. Em was still lyrical but not quite as much as Lupe but his passion and conviction simply makes you feel his words more. Two different approaches both VERY good. The two best verses over this beat IMO I cant really say whos better.

@0a170 i agree that Lupe is more abstract, creativity has to be equal bcuz although Lupe is more metaphorical, Em's early stages was the horrific psychopathic rap punchlines mixed in with the word play, he basically invented that style and brought it up and both are extremely artisically gifted. I go back and forth on who I think is the better overall mc and it just depends on what you look for in the perfect mc cuz neither of them really has any flaws.

Honestly if you look past the fact that eminem is just assumed to be the best ever, etc, and truly compare the 2 versions. I can honestly say that Lupe killed him on this. Both tell a story but Lupe actually tells his by using complex wording. I feel like when anyone says "___ was better than Em" ppl automatically say NO, NO WAY, without even listening just cus its eminem.

Think about Lu's rhyme scheme, it was never broken. Think about the metaphor or pop culture reference every line. Eminem had the better storyline, and his flow was ridiculous, but in every aspect he was beaten by Lu.
Lupe is really close to outdoing Em on this beat... but not quite, Em's flow on Lose Yourself was maybe the best ever

Em's lyricism is off the chain if you care for multis. Some of his most technical verses of all time while telling a story while using an insane flow and delivery. The hook and production are also perfect. Lupe is a great rapper but he just doesn't have the energy, emotion or technical skills em has. That being said Lupe at least before Lasers was one of the most complex rappers out there.
Em can't do multiple projects. Never dropped a mixtape in his career.

@Futomo8 its not all about how many words rhyme. I like both Em and Lupe. But lupe had deep rhyme schemes and more intricate lyrics. eminem also had deep rhyme schemes but was more personal. It depends what you prefer. But the wordplay lupe uses, is far above anything i have ever heard from Em, its not close. Im a fan of both.

Nope.... Em's flow, lyrics, Delivery, rhyme complexity > Lupe's version. Lupe has depth in his wording but to say he matched and even surpassed the raw emotions, complexity, technical rhymes and brilliance that is the original is crazy.
