1. Monetary authority
2. Issuer of currency
3. Banker and debt manager to Government
4. Banker to Banks
5. Manager of Foreign Exchange
6. Regulator and Supervisor of the Payment and Settlement Systems
7. Maintaining financial stability
8. Developmental role

On his recommendations and guidelines presented to the Hilton young commission based on his book - The problem of rupee - its origin and it's solution rbi was formed ...hats off to his legendary intellect .... Indian financial system owes its gratitude to the great man ...whose has been linked only to depressed classes by few hegemonist...but he has been instrumental in getting the entire country out of backwardness ....thanks Dr.
