I have this lens and there is a lot to love. It is an absolute joy to use. It just looks and feels made to a super high standard. Optics are obviously great too. Sharp even wide open and it doesn't do anything wrong. The only negative I have is that I'm not always loving the bokeh with busy backgrounds. For that reason I actually prefer to use my cheap 7artisans 25mm F1.8 in situations where soft and pleasant background blur is what I want (which is quite often). Fact is that I often find myself liking the output from the optically and mechanically inferior lens more (I know it's not a 100% apples to apples comparison due to the slight difference in focal length but I think it's close enough to be an alternative). In that perspective the 8x price difference makes the Voigtländer a luxury item to me. Worth it to some if they have the cash. And I'm a bit on the fence with regards to whether or not I really belong in that group. But I sure do love the feel of that manual focus ring and the accurate markings on it.
What I would really love to see Voigtlander do is make pancake lenses for any other focal length that Fuji doesn’t have (18 or 27). I have the 27mm v2 and this doesn’t quite do it for me. A 23 or 35 would be killer
Thanks man. I just received this lens today. I am enjoying it so far, but have only shot around the house and yard. No spectacular or particularly interesting shots so far. However, the focusing has been mostly quite easy (I'm a newbie) and most of my shots have been quite sharp. I was wanting a really small, light and sharp lens for my T5. Something with magic. Your photos are amazing and inspiring (and dare I say), magical I'll keep going and use this lens over the next weeks to see if this manual lens can be the EDC lens I have been waiting for.
Hello Mark, Congrats on your new V. It's indeed special and I am certain you gonna enjoy the experience more and more when you use it. In fact my set-up for today was a X-Pro3 with the 27mm too. Have a good one and greetings from Singapore.
I have the Fujifilm XF 27mm f/2.8 and like it a lot, but while I can tolerate the f/2.8 maximum aperture, I am constantly bumping up against the minimum focus distance which is too long. The Voightlander has the same basic size advantage but gives one more stop if you need more selective focus potential and more importantly for me, you can move in very tight compared to the Fuji. I will be getting this lens for sure.
I have the original 27mm Fujinon and am thinking about upgrading to the new version. The new issue is WR and has a marked aperture ring, which I prefer. For carrying on an X-E4 or earlier non-sealed body, the WR doesn't matter (for me). But I'm intrigued by the Voigtlander. I can't find one to rent so will probably buy a used instance, use for a month, then decide if I want to keep it. I've shot the Konica Hexanon 40mm f/1.8 quite a lot on full-frame and and I like the focal length quite a lot. So I think I need to spend more time with the 27mm lenses on my Fuji cameras.
Love the video but your audio is just left sided I assume the mics are in stereo mode I’m sorry but it’s a bit nerve racking I had to say it but great content overall ❤
Interesting, thanks for the review. The 2.0 is attractive; the 2.8 on the Fuji 27mm has always held me back. Two questions: 1) the bokeh looks a bit nervous to me; is that also your experience? 2) does the Voigtlander produce good sun stars? The Fuji does not :). Thanks again!
I second this, it’s incredibly difficult to see your photos and evaluate any quality of the lenses character when you’re high speed Ken Burns every single frame. I just turned it off and found a someone else’s video.
I've been literally searching for updates on this lens every single day. I can't wait for it either!
Hahaha I'm not the only person that does that then!
Same. Since June. (Maybe not every day, but I’ve been eager.)

Thanks for sharing. Have never tried the 7artisan 25mm. Will definitely wanna give it shot when I have the opportunity.

I love the lens soooo much, took me a little to get used to the manual focusing but honestly I prefer it now for my EDC
thanks for sharing.
Well done. It looks great on your camera.
Great paring indeed.
Excellent video 😊!
thank you.
Thanks for the review. Beautiful lens!

Only 2 down side which is WR and AF. Other than that; you are good to go. I personally loves this lens.

@@FujiFanBoys I learned on MF cameras, so that's not an issue. I still see AF as a luxury. ;)
Just blindly ordered lol going to be my first manual focus lens on my Fuji! Anyone know if it’s weather sealed?
def not weather sealed sadly. itd be a no brainer if it was
No, but should be for the price. I'm undecided too, in part due to this.
Damn it looks so good on the xpro3 aswell.
Can't wait for this lens.
27mm ttartisan is also an excellent option !!!
It's the best budget option.
Where can you get this in Singapore currently?
HI, you could get it if there is still stock; if not you could place an order at riceball.sg FujiFanBoys have a 10% discount promo code : FFBV
I received my lens last weekend. I cannot believe how good the rendering is wide open. It's crazy good. Is the new 18mm this good too?
To me they are both great. Do check out my 1st impression fujifanboys.com/blog/wonderful-18mm-by-voigtlander/
@@FujiFanBoyshey where did you get that awesome black and gold shutter button! Thx so much.
@@Malick333 Hello. You may contact @fujifanboys_taiwan. They are the ones selling at Taiwan.

Hello I dont the lens with me. But you could have a closer look at my blog : fujifanboys.com/blog/voigtlander-27mm-f2-something-special/
when does this drop? I just sold my x70 to buy a pancake instead and this news dropped the same day.
Which pancake lens did you buy?
@@FujiFanBoys i havent yet! Ive seen some wild deals on the 27 fuji mk1 and mk2 locally but they always sell too fast. So im just waiting.
@@Rooftopaccessorizeryou wont regret using MF with these + focus peaking. So easy and surprisingly quick
Does the focus stop right at infinity? Or do you have to pull back a little?
I did pull back a little.
Audio in mono :(
can you stop doing the zoom out thing with the sample photos, i want to see how wide is the 27mm but can’t see (sorry for bad english)
hahaha. I can't do anything about it but you could visit my blog. fujifanboys.com/blog/voigtlander-27mm-f2-something-special/

Wondering why no Fuji 27mm f1.4? Seems an obvious market.
my guess is there is already 33mmm, 35mm and 56mm. Also at 40mm F1.4 it gonna be big in size too.
cause that market is filled by the 24 1.4 already. the 27 is marketed to people who want a very tiny lens. its like an alternative to the x100 series.
@@Rooftopaccessorizer I am with you.
Viltrox are launching a 27mm f1.4 fuji x mount very soon, but it's a beast!
@@timblass4811 is it also a pancake?
