I wasn't a huge fan of the other lenses they made for Fuji but this ones is a keep. Makes me consider selling my x100v now that my xt-5 is nearly the same size.
I have this lens and love it. It took me several outings to arrive at the manual focus settings to get the most accurate focus, and surprisingly it was when I turned off the red peaking and set my camera to zoom in as soon as I touch the focus tab. This is great because I can still use the joystick to move the focus point around the frame for off-center compositions and when I touch the tab, that part of the frame zooms in. I get perfect focus at f/2 most every time. Anyone that wonders about the Fujifilm XF 27mm, I have it and it's great, but the Voightlander besides the extra stop has much better close focus capability. I'm getting shots close in now that I couldn't with the Fuji lens. My experience with this lens pretty much assures that I'm going to buy the recently announced Voightlander 18mm which looks like a twin of the 27mm. That lens will be great for zone and hyperfocal settings with the wider angle.
I like your content. Honest, critical, professional but not redundant, none of that "good-vibe, buy this lens because I made some photos and I am in love with my work" kind of bs. Hi from Hungary
Just want you to know that I have grown to love your channel….and I just ordered this lens today based on your multiple reviews….cant wait to use it with my XT5! Thanks for all that you do!
try adapting the full-frame apo-lanthars from voigtlander, they are some of the best lenses ever made in terms of sharpness, colour rendition, corrections. Yes they are all f2 but oh my, the images look better than real life! the other voigtlander lenses for the x mount are not as good though (that 35mm f0.9 is pretty soft wide open and has a ton of CA) what makes Voigtlander lenses special is their colour (just like the Zeiss lenses, they all have 3d pop)
Thanks ever so much for recommending this jewel of a lens. Mine arrived yesterday and the quality of the images I'm getting is sensational ! I owe you one ! !
Tudor, try the 23mm Nokton f1.2 from Voigtländer ☺ it's simply amazing, like a painting rendering, oh yeah, it's not only great, it's a new vintage world ♣
Thank you very much Tudor for this video. You have made me want to test this lens on my fuji x-Pro3. And bingo, it's a real pleasure to use it for street photography, in fact it's the lens I enjoy using the most, even if it does have the little frustrations you just mentioned.
Really interested in getting this lens for my x-t5. Doing a lot of manual focus practicing on vintage lenses but miss the sharpness and contrast of never lenses. Can highly recommend checking out Tudor Mateescu's video "Master Voigtlander lenses on Fujifilm cameras". Great tips in that one on different options and techniques for manual focusing. Keep up the good work!
The TTartisans 25 F2 is also surprisingly awesome, rendering 3d pop, etc. I wanted the Voigtländer but he TTartisans 25f2 and 50f2 are amazing for 60 dollars rach
Indeed. And it's a piece of cake to zone focus with the TTA 25f2. I set it just inside the 3m mark and at f8 with my X-Pro3 and it's a point-and-shoot beast! Well, as long as you're not shooting into the sun since flare can become an issue.
Let me pick your brain please! I own a fuji x-t4 and now I am looking to buy either the 23mm or the 27mm voigtlander to shoot video with (I have no problem with the lack of autofocus). Which one would you recommend?
@@Tudor_Mateescu You are correct, the 23mm F1.2 doesn´t have a focus tab and true infinity point. I was thinking of buying the 23mm f1.2 and glue a focus tab. The 18mm f.2.8 doesn´t have any of those problems, it is like the 27mm f2 in terms of construction. 18mm and 23mm are basically my favorite focal lengths for street and zone focus. I really tired of just have fuji auto focus lens for street, I miss the tactile experience of a manual lens. I am also preparing myself for the xpro4 (that hopefully should come next year). I want a kit of manual lenses with electronic communication to pair with the camera. Maybe I will buy the 18mm first and wait for a 23mm with focus tab and true infinity point in the future. I don't need f1.2 I just want small and light 23mm lens with focus tab and electronic communication.
I know is unfair for sure but since I spent my 60 bucks on my TTArtisan 25 f/2, how much of a difference could it be the rendering on the xpro3 with this lens? Additionally , do you need the xt5 advanced sensor (and new focus system) to take the best of it?
Hey friend. I had this same issue! But there is a company called Robert White photographic which specialise in leica and Voigtlander. I picked up the Voigtlander 27mm from them for £449, the same price as the ones previously on MPB but brand new!! I recommend!

The simple lens that costs way more than it gives to you! 900$ for a manual pancake? :)) I'll not compare to others because I don't want to. But I'll buy a similar quality manual lens for much much lower price. And this "full frame like" is a gimmick. If you're using it with f/2 aperture then you'll not get everything sharp! You need to close it at least to f/3.5 to get the overall sharpness _without using sharpen_ in a RAW processing program! And you always need to make focusing properly to your scene. In other words "if you're using just the advertisement promises then you will always be making blurry and freaky photographs"!
Smart clickbait…I don‘t get all this Fuji vs full frame s..t !! Somebody who‘s bought a Fujifilm camera knows why ! Nobody is interested in that so called FULLFRAME look which you won’t get for obvious reasons when you have APS-C camera. So next video will be *medium format look with this x mount lens *! 😮😅
I wasn't a huge fan of the other lenses they made for Fuji but this ones is a keep. Makes me consider selling my x100v now that my xt-5 is nearly the same size.
Great comment and insight - I agree! The Ultron destroys Fujifilm x100v at image quality 😁

How have you been finding shooting streets at night ? Neon lights etc ? And your view in comparison to xf ?

If you liked this, try the 23 1.2
Its mind blowing
I have bought this lens after your previous video. And I am very happy with it. It is always on my camera since then.
Great to hear! I'm glad you are liking it! Thank you

would like to see the review of voigtlander nokton 35mm f/0.9 lens next time

I have two Voightlander lenses for Sony. My favorite of all my 15+ Nikon/Sony lenses. Hard to explain but they are special.
Yep. 40/1.2 is ❤
I love this lens. It’s on my XT5 most of the time now.

Ultron 27/2 x-mount vs color Skopar 28/2.8 m-mount type II on Fuji cameras, this is what I’m considering at the moment.

I think 23mm f1.2 for video is better suited because you have the f1.2 and a larger field of view, and with the crop in video will work ok.
Hey Tudor, do you have any plans of buy and review he 18mm f2.8 and 23 f1.2 from voigtlander?
No, I don't feel the need for those focal lengths - also the 23mm F1.2 doesn't have a focus tab and a true infinity point from what I know.

I’d love one of these, but I can’t find this lens anywhere near me. (Alberta, Canada)
Yes. There seems to be no CV representation anywhere in Canada.
@@segzeeman7356I was able to buy on in BC
I have the 18mm 2.8 for street photography
Very good lens also
I wish they made a silver lens hood. That black lens hood is the only thing keeping me from buying a silver one to match my xt5
Squarehood have now a lenshood for this lens in silver 😉

Short answer yes ;)
Great video. Was just about to get the Fujifilm 27mm! No Voigtlander 27mm lenses on MPB UK though :(
Yep, definitely recommend the Voigtlander... It's really something!

Voitglander 23mmf1.2 or 27mm f2? Which one do you think has better iq?
Ultron 27mm definitely I would say!
23 has field curvature but it’s full of character. Love the lens.
