  • Razia Sultan was the first Muslim female ruler. She ruled in Delhi from 1236 to 1240 as the Sultan herself - it was a title never before bestowed on a woman, a position of power never before attained by a woman. She was the fifth Mamluk Sultan, one of the few female sovereigns ever in the entire history of Islamic civilizations across the world.

I am sad very sad for Shams-us-din Iltutmish he falsely predicted this.
.Sultan Muizuddin Bahram(who is 3rd son of illtumish ) destroyed razia sulthan thats why female rulers are very weak they cant handle the power which comes with responsibility and eventually she died . after this this mamuluk dynasty became so powerfull they spread their area .
Razia sulthan was not great leader I dont know why people give her so much attention bcz she is a first female leader 😂 Thats how this work .
Like in india too pratiba patil and indra gandi was worst leader but still people respect them 😂 bcz They are first females indian leader time to change buddy .

Information about Altunia, his name is Malik Akhtiyar al-Din. Al-Tunia was a Turkish slave and servant during the reign of Altutmesh, who bought him at an early age and was also one of the closest childhood friends of Razia. Due to his services and devotion to the Sultanate in his honor, Raziah made him ruler of Tabaranda. Altunia went to Tabaranda, taking advantage of his absence from the Delhi court. The Turkish nobles spread rumors that Razia had a relationship with her slave Habashi and reached news to Altunia, which was fueled in his heart by the flames of jealousy and joined the opponents of Razia and rebelled against her.

Thanks for uploading this informative video! I have, however, some doubts on her feminist role during her short reign over the Delhi Sultanate. Although I have great respect on her position as the first Delhi Sultana, I should first notice that she was not unique on the Indian Subcontinent: there were various, older Hindu Kingdoms which had a female ruler.
Secondly, we should not forget that she was a ruler of the Delhi Sultanate: a Sultanate in which religious minorities and Hindus were severely oppressed and discriminated. There are various, written records available in which the Delhi Sultans admit their negative views on Hindus, Buddhists and people from another ethnic background. I seriously wonder if Razia Sultana was really different from these earlier Sultans and if she is a correct rolemodel for Indian Feminism. I am not trying to frame her just in a negative manner but researchers have to be more critical of the specific achievements of these rulers. What has she done for religious freedom and for the rights of minorities and women? And where are the written records of these achievements? These are the questions which should be answered.

She was, from the historical records she abolished taxes on hindus and gave a African slave (yakut) a lot of power. This angered the nobles, who thought their blood was everything and considered slaves inferior. She curbed the nobles with a strong hand and built many hospitals and schools. She was a great ruler, with her only fault being a woman. After her death delhi again fell into the hands of incompetent rulers

@@adwaitab.3622, well it depends on which Mughal emperor you are referring to. For example, the last great emperor Aurangzeb decided that Hindus should pay the jizya tax, which is a tax only for non-muslims. He also severely persecuted the Sikhs and Maratha's during their early years. So in short, not all Mughal emperors were kind hearted towards the large, majority Hindu population within the Mughal Empire.
