At times the Sexual 4 and the Sexual 1 are indistinguishable , at least from their manifest behavior as explosive anger is most easily visible in both. Both can be sarcastic and biting. It takes a while to understand the motivations of the expressed anger. But still, its tricky to tell the difference easily.
Thank-you so much, I've wanted to meet or hear from an older, more experienced four for soooo long! And Nancy has known about the Enneagram for 60 years! Goddam! And she's beautiful! Can you do a series where viewers can send in their questions to these experienced people?
I'm so glad you enjoyed the interview with Nancy! As for questions, our interviews aren't planned too far in advanced, so we don't know which type we will interview next and when that will be. But I like your request and will try to think of a way to make this work!
It would be amazing to do a study on Attachment Theory and the Enneagram types. Type 4 Sexual type are dismissive avoident. Perhaps more so for counter types. Please ask sexual fours about there compacity for patience. I find they can be chronic with comparison and impatient due to acquiring what they idialise as the best. Im a type 1 self pres dating a male sexual four. Very intrigued with fours due to there spiritual energy of "origin" - holy Idea AH Almaas.
great interview, so awesome to learn about how sexual 4s actually are! i’m a male self preservation 2 and would absolutely love to see maybe an older and developed guy for the self pres 2 interview? the 2 is often incorrectly stereotyped as being mainly a “woman type” due to strong emotions and caring for others and seductiveness etc which is ridiculous. as a male 2, as a child and now as an adult i’ve always felt so different from other guys due to those traits so it’d be awesome to see how a self-pres 2 male who’s “grown up” looks like. just wanted to put that out there! either way, great video and thanks!
The interview I've been waiting for! Do you have any resources for how each subtype plays with its secondary subtype? Such as a sx/sp with repressed social, vs. sp/social with repressed sexual, etc?
from what i gather, it seems like the secondary subtype kind of adds on or influences the dominant instinct with the flavor (lack of a better word!) of that subtype. for example, i’m self-pres 2 with sexual second. i’m pretty fun loving and outgoing, but there’s a lot of hesitation in me due to the self preservation 2 when it comes to interacting with others. it’s so easy for me to talk to others, yet approaching them or especially speaking publicly, i’m very fearful of rejection or judgement. at the same time though, sexual 2 being secondary in me, i can have a real push towards creating a bond with specific people that i find interesting or want to be close to. also, i have a big focus on my personal appearance and how attractive i come across to people and feel deeply hurt when i’m not seen in the way i want to be seen. so yeah! in myself it influences my dominant instinct. as a sp 2 i’m ambivalent and hesitant about connection, but with sx second there’s a huge push to connect with very specific people.
Excellent interview. Like looking in a mirror. (Except, I had a very controlling mom-1-so I didn’t want to be that way with my kids.) Beatrice, your hair looks beautiful.
SX 4s typically have access to a wider range of emotions, not just or mostly anger. Also-the triggers for their anger are different. SX 4s often feel angry when others don’t understand them, value them, or meet their needs around being seen. This is different from what makes 8s angry-for them, it may be more about impatience, not feeling in control, or having those forward momentum thwarted. It’s easier for SX 4s to be in touch with vulnerable emotions, even if they don’t always express them. And SX 4s express envy as competition and need to be seen as special.

Is there an interview with an SP four?
Yes, we have a great interview with Ian Morgan Cron. It's episode #39. ruclips.net/video/g93p4rnNFwQ/видео.html

What is the obvious difference between a sexual 4 and a sexual 8 ?
