Pretty crazy how you can change the polarization just by rotating it.
It's Basic Physics tho?
@@nihar0701 It’s still cool.
@@cocoisadog Agreed
@@nihar0701lol what a dumb response
Imma binge watch this guys entire short collection as soon as I get a camera
same lol
what camera you planning to get
I already have💀
I love how quickly and effectively you deliver information.
I can see the glimpse of young Peter McKinnon in him, keep it up🔥
This is how both circular and linear polarizers work. The difference being that linear polarizers output polarized light, which can be a problem if your camera has a mirror because the polarized light bounces off the mirror in a strange way - making auto focus and metering very difficult.
A circular polarizer has a linear polarizer with a layer in the camera facing side that essentially makes the light not polarized anymore. So the filter will block the reflected light you don't want in the image and then the light that isn't filtered will come in as if there is no filter. Meaning it bounces off a mirror just fine and won't mess with metering or autofocus.
Linear polarizers are fine for mirrorless cameras, but will be funky on mirrored cameras or old cameras with a beam splitter in it.
Please can you share your lighting setup.
"Skin looks velvety"
Nice reflection setting
I honestly never knew you could rotate the filter to change the effect.
still didn't get it what EXACTLY allows to filter reflections
Love your content.
Keep it up
This was VERY cool
Title says "how does a circular polarizer work" - video doesn't even answer the question the slightest...
It "controls how much of that reflection gets let through the filter"
Yeah but that's a shit explanation, the filter has a polarized coating that only lets through a certain direction of polarized light, hence why rotating 90 degrees turns the effect completely on or of because your either be completely in line with the polarized light or not. light that has been reflected gets polarized. Unreflected light contains all 'directions' of polarization and always has a component that is let through.
Think of it like the polarized light in 3d movies and how the 3d glasses work.
@@lukasgoos6243 Thanks for giving an actual explanation.
What brand polarizer is that?! ☺️
What's your filter recommendation?
What polarizer size do i need to put on a stock canon eos m6ii lens
I got a cpl very recently and it’s great, but one thing I have noticed is that when I zoom in on something far away like a plane or the moon it can’t focus and is very blurry. Do you know why?? Many thanks.
can a polarizer also reduce the amount of light reflection on face? i'm just a beginner doing talking heads with only a 45 watt cheap softbox and i don't know how to reduce the glare from my face (especially from the forehead). any advise will be much appreciated.
Which brand is better ??
How do you put on the camera? ❤
do you recommend to apply loctite ?
Do you need a CP filter on top of a variable ND filter if you want to cut out reflections from glass? I’m looking to pickup a variable ND but didn’t know if it also cut down on glare.
Photos taken using variable ND may lead to dark spots at the corner of the pictures taken. Got to know about this from many people who are actually using ND filter. I think, CPL filter would be better. But you may not get as many stops as ND filter.
ok i know what it does, but how does it work now?
are the cheap ones worth it?
They tend to degrade image quality, so be cautious!
Does there exist variable filters?
Circular polarizers are by nature variable. Is that what you're wondering?
@@AnthonyGugliotta well no, for ND filters there exists both static and variable ones. Static just screws in but variable has a rotating function changing the levels. I’m wondering if someone has made a similar one for circular polarizers.
Im first? Wth
Btw, I love your content!
