Any chance that you can do a side-by-side comparison between the different filters in the exact same scenario to see how much the light changes along with if there is any colour cast?
To be fair while yes in his shorts he's mostly just opening a package of some sort, it's the reason I subbed to him, he works hard on short form and long form content
Thanks for the information. I've been learning so much from your channel. I've always wondered what filters do and now I realize I definitely need some!
Sorry ….🇨🇦 , I’m full of questions on this one. With regards to variable ND filters, taking video in midday sun is 2-5 stop enough or is a 6-9 stop more ideal? This obviously would depend on aperture as well. For argument sake let’s say F2.8.
He addresses this about mid way thru the video. He said, in effect, that the beefier ND filter would likely be necessary for an application which you described.
They make a few different models, I've owned a couple different ones. The 82mm (1-5 stops) is a good one, make sure you get the one that advertises no X
I hate to be "that guy", but Tiffen is pronounced as "tiff-un" not "teef-un" or "teef-en". Tiffen filters get their name from the family owned company which is run by Sol, Leo, Nat, and Ira Tiffen, or at least whoever of them is still living. Just some inside info.
Only a total .... uses UV filters, they are a big risk to damage your lens really badly! They only seve one purpose: make the filter seller richer and your photos worse! VND are bad, really bad - because they always have uncontrollable polarising effects, so they screw with your image in unforseable ways.
@@karlgunterwunsch1950 Hmm had one shatter due to bad cap placement and missapplied pressure in a holster bag, front element was pristine. It wasn't an impact though. Will keep it in mind.

Thank you for your videos, the world of lens filters is daunting, and you made it simple to find some affordable ones that work. Thank you!
A fellow guitar player, eh? Cheers man. Thanks for a great vid, I’ve been wanting to learn more about filters
I just love this guy! Such a expressive!
what a shame people are only watching shorts

0:48 When I see a ghost image from the UV filter, it's affecting the image tremendously. Protect your lens with the hood, not useless UV filters.
Never had a problem with quality filters, using hood as well though... A cheap one is indeed detrimental to image quality

Are filters better than color grading?
Thanks for the tips at the end of the video. It saved me lots of money. ❤
The Kase Wolverine series looks good.

I need a mist filter for a 105mm maybe get a step down ring get a smaller size filter 82mm
Is there any downside to using the combination variable nd + cpl filters?
So K&F makes an ND+CPL combo filter. What do you think of that?
This was an extremely helpful video. Thank you for making this.

Is it a good idea to buy a CPL and an ND in one filter?
what filter should i buy for car videos, ND or CPL?
Would the CPL work for flash reflection in macrophotography?
So nd filter not good for casual photography?
I love you so much man. Ive learned so much From you
Thank you very much
Do you have to colour grade your photos or videos slightly different depending on if you use a variable ND filter or not?
Thank you!
Would you recommend VND for landscape and portraits photo? Or not neccesary?
If personally think there might be some use cases for a vnd in landscape photography, but 99% of the time you won’t need one for portrait shots
Using a filter size adapter can add a lot of extra glare. Sub optimal.
Thanks! Anyone use the ttartisan with a 13mm viltrox?

What does a filter do?
Did you even see the video?
@@mizipianist8962 Yes I did...sent a like...just cant remember...sorry

That lens died from airsoft, didn't it?
NO Variable ND with CPL?

How are uv filtres dangerous? Tottaly agree on vnd's...
@@masanthar They shatter easily on blunt impacts that would leave the front element unscathed - often those shards resulting in terminal lens damage.
