Funny thing: a Kup figure losing some paint actually makes him look better, as he looks more like an old relic.
I was about to say, he's the only character where the "battle damage" paint or wheathering would actually look good.
i understand what you are saying about the paint...only problem is this figure is like $150 so i'm gonna need it NOT to scrape off hard to match and apply paint when I'm transforming it! lol

No one else can make this transformation look this simple, everyone hates this figure that reviews it but you did it seamlessly, I transformed him without instructions and absolutely love this figure, yes the transformation is complex but I like figures like that, emgo is the tf review king after this one
I think it's because this is Kup v2. My guess it is like the x transbots wheelie, the first release was super easy to break but the second fixed a lot of those issues
Merry Christmas Emgo. Good version of Kup. In robot mode he nails it. In his Cybertronian Pick up truck mode looks about the same but seems complicated to do.

Man... Can’t remember a transformation that seemed like this much of a chore!
Too much for my liking, especially considering he looks very flimsy. My thing with him was that he looked extremely breakable if you missed a step or simply a little too forceful. I'm not rough with my toys but he's got so many little parts that it scares me as those are the ones I'm afraid of breakage.
The FansToys version of Kup was an absolutely miserable figure to transform.

Well, you're right. The transformation looks VERY involved. But I'm for it. I'm not usually a fan of X-Transbots. But I like this one.

That weirdass hip joint on the Targetmasters is probably a part chosen to save on tooling costs.

Either mode looks pretty good, but all those fiddly bits... I think I'll stick with the Studio 86 version. All the same, that's why I watch review videos, and sometimes a long fiddly transformation is what you want, to get into the zen of fiddling with bits, like a Rubik's Cube that actually does something besides be cubic.

I really like this headsculpt, I want to shrink it slightly and replace SS86 Kup's head with it. I love the Sharkticon tail accessory, that moment in the movie was Kup's Crowning Moment of Awesome IMO. Just getting medieval with what's basically a mace. That transformation, though...ouch.
I think 3rd parties can't get Targetmasters to look good because it's impossible to get away from the "person folded in half" look they have.
Hot damn, what a transformation. Puts MP-44 to shame!

Just got mine. It's better in hand than on the photos. Very happy with him. I keep mine in bot mode, so a nightmare transformation isn't a factor for me.
That's a beautiful looking figure and the truck mode is a bout as G1 as I have seen so far.

This figure is an absolute nightmare of tiny breakable hinges. I picked up one and the left leg was DOA

Hmm, even with v2 just not feeling it. It doesn't feel very good in hand, something with the colors they picked or the plastic...I don't know. I usually root for XTB but this is still a bit of a flop in my view, selling him and keeping FT Koot - he may look a bit less toon accurate, but feels way better in bot mode (both godawful transformations, so a tie there lol). And yeah - Merry Christmas!!

The paint scraping on the thighs don’t bother me. I’m just pretending it’s battle damage from his stories he tells hahah
My head joints were a little stiff (must be the nasty bar in his rotator). So I just slid it off the the neck joint to make that clearance through the windshield.

Here's hoping that version 3 will be a more simplified transformation as the engineering on this hurt my brain.
Anyone else noticing a pattern that if Emgo tries to pull something on an expensive toy during transformation it breaks.
I note that his feet appear to be die cast as well and are also losing a bit of paint from transformation.

Yeah, that. Even though it should be better than the V1, I already saw plenty of QC reports with the V2. I own plenty of XTB products, and they are holding up very good I must say, but the video's of this figure don't give me a lot of confidence. Especially the thigh slider. I have the FT Kup already (which isn't great either), so I'm good. I might pick this one up if it's on sale.

Happy Holidays for what ever you may be celebrating this holiday period, also in regards to the target masters without a lot of parts forming I don't think there's any way to make targetmasters look good when transformed, you're just folding a dude in half and shoving a gun barrel out his butt or off his head or similar bodypart.

It's a shame taht it's a difficulty to get the parts to all properly fit together, because I love the complexity in the transformation otherwise.

I honestly gave up trying to follow the transformation after the first few minutes of fiddling.
I don't know why third party companies and masterpiece figures seem to want to make transformation such an extremely tedious process. Like, there had to be a simpler way that didn't rely on so many panels and hinges and Armatures and spaghetti. Like, toys are supposed to be fun. A good transformation is an intuitive puzzle that still surprises. This is counter-intuitive.
Masterpiece figures are a lot less complicated than this guy. He's overly complicated just to be overly complicated.
I'm pretty sure his Targetmaster's name is Flintlock? But you said you don't care so whatever!

@@emgo316 hmmm? I thought it was Flintlock because it sounds old fashioned which fits Kup nicely, but to be fare I don't care that much about the Head/Targetmaster partners. I preferred the Japanese way where the head is the robot and the body's a kind of mecha, less names to keep track of that way.

That was the ugliest car mode ever. Cup was never a favorite of mine. That said, the robot does look good.
So it takes 30+ minutes to show it transform, you lost me 1 minute in.
