Glen alone would sound very different but without the music Glen wrote and Steves unable or willingness to play it as Glen wrote it simplify it into power chords. Combined with Rottens vocal and pauls drumming. This is what made the Pistols. On their own they never could or have matched it
Steve and Paul wanted Malcolm to manage them but he only agreed to stop Steve Jones thieving in his shop. Malcolm disguised his lazy attempt at managing as being a "mis-manager", but as you said, they did most of it without him.
@izzynone1 What are you talking about, have you read Johnny Rotten’s bio? He had long hair when he listened to Alice Cooper, and he cut it when he heard Iggy Pop. And ya, white man playing reggae, name a white guy who plays blues, o wait...ERIC CLAPTON!, Jimmy Page. Without experimentation we wouldnt have music anymore, the clash took a risk, the pistols road the commercial wave, punk destroyed them, the clash stopped being punks as they realized how much better they could do than 3 chord songs.
I don´t think that anyone can thank Mcclaren for the Pistols. They were themselves they formed themselves and they became the world´s most wonderful band without Malcolm. He was only giving them a kick in the butt to start out. LOUISE.
Joy Division's "Unknown Pleasures" would be a better bet - Or "Feeding Of The 5000" by Crass - or maybe "Machine Gun Etiquette" by The Damned. Do they only do UK bands? If not, I'd love to see Suicide or The Birthday Party, though they're probably not quite mainstream enough...
Malcolm was a complete douchebag! I still think that he was the reason they wound up firing Glenn. His love for the whole stupid idea of chaos completely blew them apart!!
It really is such a shame that they replaced Glenn with Sid. Glenn was a great musician and with him the Sex Pistols could have gone on to much bigger and better things. Sid was a clueless waste of space with ZERO talent. If Maclaren had had ANY brains at all he would have prevented that change at all costs.
So, decided you'd better run away from your idiocy on the other thread, huh? LOL, predictable! If you had any real knowledge of the Sex Pistols you would know that Sid was a liability for the band. He couldn't play a lick, so Steve had to essentially cover for him both on stage and in the studio. And considering that Steve, Paul and Glen were highly proficient musicians, and Johnny was no less than a virtuoso as a front man, Sid's relative incompetence was far from moot.
I'm not surprised that you're acting the same way here. Funny guy. Projecting your own behaviour onto others and not listening to what I have to say. Please, if you're going to talk about musical proficiency, get away from the Sex Pistols. Start listening to Mozart or something, then come back and talk. Better yet, get back to me after you're playing with the local symphony orchestra.
the unsung hero in the pistols is cookie.
Who cares if he washed his feet......Classic. Best album ever.

Does Steve Jones have any idea of how funny he is?! I'll bet he'd be fun to hang out with and talk music.

He was always washing his feet. Showing me these 'beatle chords' 😅

Paul cook grew to Become a amazing drummer.

Thank god SJ was there like as THE best guitar player - I feel sorry for Sid and god bless him but Steve Jones is more capable and always will be.
@666metallalcolica666 Actually it's EMI chief. If you're going to slam something at least cal it by the correct name.
