    As a Remedial and Sports Massage Therapist I love this! I am feeling really drawn in and want to learn this stuff. I am less interested in injury but more so on posture and influences.

    Dear Mr Hruska
    Since our top and bottom teeth don't touch in our default/neutral state anyway, how does wearing a splint change anything?
    My feeling is that it only makes sense that removing an improper bite should only change things if our top and bottom teeth are in contact 24/7

    Absolutely amazing this jaw/teeth circuit breaker. If your using that mouth guard to do a circuit break how long does someone have to go with strengthening glutes, hamstrings and diaphragm for to then not have to use the mouthguard?

    So interesting! I just stumbled upon a PT who does PRI and had what looked like rotoscoliosis - I was twisting around and down to the right post-spinal cord injury. Now with a few easy exercises I can open that right side back up and my shoulders are even and my head is straight! There’s also a lot of other things that go along with it, like GI issues and SI joint pain. Really cool to see that the body can fix a lot of it in its own if you help it out a bit. I also have a similar gait to the guy in the study. My dental issue is different though - I have TMJ because I had an overbite and when I had braces they used a headgear to push the top teeth back. According to my new dentist, they are now realizing they should pull the jaw forward, and there are a lot of people like me who have issues as a result of the previous treatment with headgear.

    Is this dysfunction permanent in that using that mouth guard has to be used all the time? Or does the body build new patterns?

      Hey Nelson. 3 years later have you found any answer to your question?

    I've made a few trips to the Hruska clinic before. I believe in the exercises as they help some. The approach taken with me at that time was visional. I've suspected for quite awhile it was Occlusal - based on me having an implant on one side and my bite has been changed. In testing this out on my own w/ a supported bite on one side my gait changed dramatically. Wish this was discovered when when I was there. Hopefully I can find someone in TX To help address as the knee & back pain has been ongoing. I'm curious if PRI thinks corrective dental work to improve bite could help longterm.

    I've watched a few videos from the institute. In this particular instance, I am not sure what's going on though because I thought the idea was to address imbalance of the mandible. If "occlusion" is the problem, how..? is the idea here that one side of the jaw has more pressure built up and therefore shuts down flexibility, sensitivity of ipsilateral movement, and changes the center of gravity? Oh, I'm just thinking to myself now...yes, if you shut down the tension in the mandible with the mouth guard, then it makes sense that the nervous system would stop the inhibitions and therefore the body would regain better functioning. I guess, follow up work would involve releasing the tension in the jaw on one side and creating a more even, or flatter occlusion. Am I correct..? But what if through accident or whatever the jaw is unlikely to correct its misalignment..? Or are there remedies even then..? I guess I have to keep studying. Thanks for uploading. This is breakthrough stuff and an amazing testament to the Western analytical mode of thinking the relationships of body parts to each other via the nervous system. Genius..! ;)

      Hi Sabo, I would recommend seeing someone on our find a provider page www.posturalrestoration.com/find-provider who works with a dentist, this particular case was at the www.hruskaclinic.com/ where they have a dentist in the clinic.

    Why does he need a custom aplliance when this cheap mouthguard already gets him out of his pattern? 🤔

      You can’t live with a mouth guard in

    • @ElysiaOConnor
      @ElysiaOConnor 6 месяцев назад +1

      Because a cheap mouth guard can only interrupt a pattern, not help repattern him. He needs canine guidance for rotational purposes etc. which a custom mouth piece can provide. The custom or occulusal orthotic paired with specific activities will neurologically allow him to re-learn how to find reference to move better. Anyone can shove a mouthgard in somebody's mouth, but that is not treatment. In fact, just interrupting someone's habitual pattern with a mouth guard alone can make somebody worse if not followed by proper intervention.
