Kevin, you just said something that I would like to use on my upcoming RUclips videos. You said ‘Sometimes you just need to let an old knife be an old knife”. I really love that and with your permission I’d like to use it.
@theknifedr-edc I'm definitely planning to give you credit. Just as you did with the guy that used the snapability term. www.youtube.com/@patrickOPDrobinson
Great job Kevin. I knew I sent that knife to the right person. Can't wait to see it with the sheath. Ralph would be proud to see it being enjoyed. Thanks. Jeff
Well done,,, i found the process to be much simpler then i imagined... Got a few myself, that need some TLC.. Thanks for the beginner's starting point.
In our teen years all us kids on the neighborhood wood grab our packs and campout down by the river in wa state we all would campare knives some had these case knives the rest were westerns all stacked leather handles beautiful job bud
Wow did that clean up nice. I just lucked out and found the 14th edition of that book for $65 …… I would recommend trying the “Red Wing All Natural Leather Conditioner” on the stacked handles or leather sheaths. Love your videos !!!!
Esee sheath's work well with Case knifes, I have an extremely old sheath Case knife that's just marked with the big CASE letters and no others, it didn't have a sheath after I cleaned it up. I took the old leather sheath from my Esee JG3 and molded it to fit the old knife..
It looks great. Brought that knife for my son years ago.. good to see that steel come right back from neglect.. goes to show that buck done those knives right! Thanks for sharing buddy
I've been waiting to come across a large or extra large stockman knife. Got a few modern knives with my opinel no.8 as the exception but I've been seriously considering carrying a big stockman to lighten my blade load. I carry multiple knives a day 😅
They’re really hard to find. Here is on on eBay. www.ebay.com/itm/166549458592?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=qM5aCkvASFq&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=qClVYrWaQY6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
I have a Case XX Kodiak dated from 1965 to 1980 it was also sent to me by my father in-law. He told me that he was to old to use it and wanted me to have it. Can I please send it to you for restoration Sir?
I have a western boulder Colorado bird and trout knife I’m wanting to restore handles has a bend in it and sheath is trashed was wanting a restore on the knife and a new sheath what would be a ball park that would cost me if I was to send it to someone

You have my interest in old knifes. Can you tell me what book you use for reference ?
They’re really hard to find. Here is on on eBay. www.ebay.com/itm/166549458592?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=qM5aCkvASFq&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=qClVYrWaQY6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
@@theknifedoctor Thanks for the info on your book. 😀
I picked up a case like it during the summertime pay $25. For it have don't figured out how old says razor edge on blade and has a bone handle
Awesome!
Your knife has Case USA, (unless I can’t see the dots in between) but the book shows Case U.S.A. Is there a difference in years? Made before 65?
No. It’s the correct tang stamp in the book. Thanks for watching!
What type of steel is this cv?
Chrome Vanadium. Stainless steel mixed with Carbon steel.
I have a Case XX Kodiak dated from 1965 to 1980 it was also sent to me by my father in-law. He told me that he was to old to use it and wanted me to have it. Can I please send it to you for restoration Sir?
Just a cleaning?
@@theknifedoctor sharpening and polishing. I can email you pictures it’s in rough shape.
@@theknifedoctor I sent you an email with pictures.
Is that a military knife
No, it’s a Case XX Fixed blade FINN. Good little hunting knife!
Scrub handle with saddle soap if it's leather.. then use mink oil on the leather its made for leather
I have a western boulder Colorado bird and trout knife I’m wanting to restore handles has a bend in it and sheath is trashed was wanting a restore on the knife and a new sheath what would be a ball park that would cost me if I was to send it to someone
2500-3000 sand paper with a little water that blade will look like a mirror.
Stop calling it a stamp tang. It’s a tang stamp.
LOL. Tomatoe-2mato.
For the love of God, please wear nitrile, latex, or rubber gloves. I can only imagine your hands being dried & rough as sand paper.😂
