what i love is that you made it sound really gen 3 by having different sections of the song use different instruments. that kind of composition always made the original hoenn battle tracks stand out for me. listening back again between rse and oras im kinda disappointed in how the remastered tracks in oras didnt have as much diversity which originally made them go hard asf

This does sound the most accurate I've heard compared to many others. Others I hear don't really use the same instruments from GBA, and they still keep/ignore that some of the background extra sounds from the DS that isn't in the R/S/E music. The R/S/E games mostly had pure horns and drums.
you also gotta think, the other sound fonts put on this song have different instruments, and putting them in those formats is best to give it the region vibe or it won't feel the same or from that region, like RSE, if you make a cover of a theme from that with say, a B/W format, it wouldn't be RSE if there isn't T R U M P ET S MORE TRUMPETS MORE TRUMPETS

dude this is better than the OG DS version, you nailed the RSE style! Most remixes use too many instruments, making it cluttered but this it so digestible
Imagine if this was secretly a song found in the files of Emerald and a leftover from DP’s early development cycle where they used the soundfont they were most familiar with to compose a song for the next generation. Sounds a bit elaborate and maybe giving Game Freak a little too much credit but stranger things have surfaced. Fantastic remaster, dude!
I doubt that they originally used GBA samples lol. The only reason that this track works well on the GBA is because I had to do a shit load of optimizing to get this track inserted. If I just inserted it as is then it would have sounded pretty bad xD. I think it took me about 8 hours to completely finish this. I will say that I prefer the GBA samples way more than the DPPt ones :p
