    Feels weird knowing that BotW is already a nostalgic game for me in the same sense that most of the other Zelda games are as well. The best games always give you a distinct thrilling feeling that you might never feel again the first time you play them.

    15:14 Nintendo has definitely been doing this for me since I was a baby, despite the fact that they missed me for about four consoles. But even though I didn't own a GameCube, or any of the Wiis, there were still games on those systems that definitely put a smile on my face. And don't even get me started on the portable consoles.

    This explains the difference between Nintendo's commitment to art, and every other systems commitment to commerce, beautifully. Thankyou I really enjoyed this.

      Nintendo is terrible at running a video game business, but it doesn't matter lol bc they are unparalleled when it comes to actually making games.

    Breath of the Wild seems like the 1 game everyone seems to love, but I can't seem to get into it. The weapon durability is my biggest turn off. I feel anything I find just breaks after like 3 enemies and it just feels frustrating to me. Maybe I'll try it again someday, because the open world itself looks amazing.

    • @CView
      @CView  2 года назад +6

      I would definitely give it another shot. To me, it completely changed the way I view and play games (although I still enjoy more traditional and narratively driven open worlds).
      Weapon degradation is definitely something worth changing or altering in the sequel.

      You have to change your perspective on video games. Nothing is consistent in Botw, and that is exactly the point. It quite literally sows creativity. You are intended to feel like a person alone in a strange new wilderness. You cant rely on any one thing in particular. You have to live in the moment.
      Its very Zen, in the literal sense.

    This video got me thinking about how BoTW could be brought into true VR, and especially how the paraglider functionality would work. It would be terrible in VR, so my best idea was to replace it somehow with another feature. hmmmmmm. Climbing would be very fun, and stamina usage would be defined by how long the player held a spot and how many times they used a hand.

    I love and I played this game so much that I keep asking myself weird things like why can' Link just eat sticks of goat butter. The only thing that kept BotW from being pretty much the perfect game for me was Master Mode being phoned in, it didn't need enemy HP regen or inflated health pools, just harder hitting enemies and a more concrete experience like no inventory healing/buffing/equipping while climbing or flying, and maybe keep eating cooked foods to when Link is either in towns or near camp fires. Master Mode to me is the single wine stain in this perfect linen of a game. Played this for over 500 hours and I think that it's an absolute masterpiece albeit its flaws. Really looking forward to what Nintendo will be presenting in the sequel.
