Academic Injustice: Displacement of Ad Hoc Teachers Exposes Deep-Seated Issues in DU |Ramjas College

  • In a poignant evening at Ramjas College's English department in Delhi University on December 4th, emotions ran high as 8 out of 10 ad hoc teachers faced displacement. This incident sheds light on a persistent issue within the university's academic culture, where ad hoc teachers are being arbitrarily removed. By April 2023, 75% of ad hoc teachers had already faced displacement, raising concerns about the fairness of the ad hoc system and the overall degradation of academic standards.
    Miss Debolina Dey, who worked at the department for nine years, shared her unusual experience during the job interview process. The subjective nature of literature was treated objectively, with topics like sexual identities, queerness, and feminism seemingly disregarded during interviews. Ad hoc appointments, originally designed for short-term vacancies, have become normalized, subjecting thousands of teachers to a constant cycle of contract renewals every four months.
    Professor Apoorvanand highlighted the open secret of political affiliations playing a decisive role in appointments, particularly if recommended by sources linked to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Instances of individuals expressing gratitude to RSS-affiliated figures, such as DUTA President AK Bhagi, further fuel suspicions of a political bias in hiring and firing decisions. Students also voiced concerns about the impact of political affiliations on the academic landscape.
    As the practice of favoring political connections over merit continues, questions arise about the longstanding nature of this issue and its contribution to the erosion of educational institutions. Watch the video to know more.

    I studied many years and cleared net exam just to teach in some college but after watching what is happening today, I have absolutely no interest in teaching and in going academics. That's just the beginning. Soon they will remove all the teachers who are either sc St obc or minorities or does not subscribe to Sanghi ideology. Why these people became so successful in the past ten years. Why abvp is so strong? Answer is very simple. the support of upper caste students who believe in privatization, hindutva and anti reservation policies.

    Vaise Adhoc teachers are way better than permanent teachers. They have the zeal to teach unlike permanent ones. This is what happens in today's college culture.

    Govt. Did the great job. You cannot run with ad hoc for long. Ad hoc means temporary so they have to go anytime

    Most of the colleges and even in many Central Universities the situation is similar. The current regime has enforced the hiring of incapable people who have no real academic acumen leave alone achievements on ideological basis. This has been done to deliberately attack the education system. Imagine a situation where students know more about a particular subject, than the recent appointee. to make matters worse, most of them are reluctant to take classes or even learn the basics, instead they spend their time in political engagements and everything else, leaving these students and the entire system of education in a state of depression.

    It's going on right way.balancing leftist ideology is good thing.

    • @PKL2006
      @PKL2006 9 месяцев назад +1

      what makes you think the leftist ideology is a bad thing. Decisions certainly cannot be made because a select few authoritative people think bad of the leftist ideology. Let me also say the poisonous rightist ideology needs to be balanced. What bullshit. There needs to be equal opportunities for the expression of all ideologies, not the sacking of teachers because of it and the admission of those teachers that are the puppets of certain ideologies which ultimately leads to the vanishing of academic discourse and temperament.

    • @reichdesarnab
      @reichdesarnab 7 месяцев назад

      how? by appointing less than mediocre teachers? will you be ok if your child's teacher was like these? countering left ideology is fine, but not by compromising on education. if you wish to counter then develop the necessary skills and appoint people who are from your ideology but are capable.
