    Just wanted to add some advice in case others are having the same issues as I was.
    Motor unit unresponsive? Try holding in the SET button until the LED comes on.
    Cant pair the 16 channel remote that is available as an option? Follow the usual pairing instructions but the 'pair key' is the tiny p1 button on the back of the remote under the battery cover.
    And thanks for the vid!

    I bought 7 of this same product for most of the windows in my house (1,500 sq) 3 years ago. I was able to install all of them and working fine. BUT I always have problems with all of the wifi dongles because apparently they keep losing signal and even though I programmed an open/close schedule for all the shades, it doesn’t work. I have a great wifi connection in my house and it also has the 4.5ghz signal. I got tired of re-pairing the devices over and over again… It works for a while and no more. So I’m not sure if the dongles are poor quality or the problem is something else. Any thoughts that can help me? Thanks!!

      Same same same same same same same issue. I’ve tried about a dozen curtain openers and a dozen gateways. They constantly don’t work. They will work when I set them up, automations and all… then next day not at all, and I have to start all over. I’ve tried every brand of gateway and opener. And nada. My entire home is automated but curtains allude me!

I was expecting it to stay red and then go green? I’m not getting any response at all from pressing the up or down arrows. Feel like sending it back, but find it odd that both of the 2 units I bought are the same. Nothing happens. Thanks for the video. A couple of questions, Does this device work with sheer shades? Another question is, if you have multiple blinds, can they be controlled separately, and all at once? Thank you.

    • @MarkWattTech
      @MarkWattTech  3 года назад

      Providing a cord or chain is accessible then yes :) in this video I only showed the chain mechanism but I actually have this fixed to the pull string to open fully left and right.
      With multiple blinds you can individually control them. To control them all together (e.g. open/close multiple blinds) you would need to create automations in the Tuya/Smarlife app
      Or Home Assistant. Or you could create a group in Alexa or Google and have one command do them all.
      Plenty of flexibility :)
      One thing to note, with the WiFi model I think you would need a dongle for each one. I haven’t tested this as I only have the one blind, but its something to be aware of. You may want to look at the Zigbee version.
      Hope that helps :)

    1- why usb dongle? why not built in like any other Tuya product? Oh, this is NOT Tuya product ;-)
    2- why no battery indicator on the device even to avoid "today we will have a night during the day" ?
    3- any possibility to add steps i.e. "open 65% and stop"? Or slider in app?
    4- 5.5mm (if it is 5.5mm) it very standard connector for DC power ;-)

    • @muttlyirl
      @muttlyirl 3 года назад +1

      1. Because WiFi is very power hungry and would likely kill the battery in a short period, certainly not 6 months.
      2. Probably because it’s rf. Rf is good for sending a command but not ideal for things like battery life.
      3. No idea but I have the WiFi powered version and you can’t set predefined stop points but you can with automations in the app or via HA if you’re using that.
      4. It probably is 5.5mm, some sellers allow the use of solar panels. Might be a cool way to go.

    • @zyghom
      @zyghom 3 года назад

      @@muttlyirl ok, for point 1 you are right, for point 2... LED to be visible requires less than 0.5mA so I am not sure, also: many devices don't show LED always, but when you press any button on the device (and there are 3 of them) for a moment it could show the battery status - so at this point: 1:1 ;-), point 3: I don't have this device but if there are only 2 positions (start and end) you cannot do anything between - when you use the app or the buttons on the device: can you stop at any point? point 4: believe me ;-)

    • @muttlyirl
      @muttlyirl 3 года назад

      @@zyghom on point 2, the body of the rf and zigbee versions appear to be the same so keeping them the same is likely for cost savings. The level indicator is a good idea. The reason I got my blind motor and I suspect the same for a lot of people is that the motor can do it’s job in an awkward place. For example, I got my first one as the window it’s on in the living room I have to climb over a couch to get to the chain. The motor or was an ideal way to solve the issue.
      3. I don’t mean you can’t stop it anywhere you like, in fact you can stop it any time with either the app or the buttons on the device. What I mean is you have to stop it where you want, you can’t press the button to close and have it stop half way then press again to fully close (again, for clarity, I have the older WiFi version). All that being said, I haven’t pressed a button with months. My 5 motors are all fully automated via HA.

    • @Steve61
      @Steve61 3 года назад +2

      I have this one and the new V2 motor. You can nominate an opening position in the Tuya app. It is a slide, you can just run your finger down the screen and select the % opening you want.
      In Home Assistant (I'm using Local Tuya) you can nominate a % - eg 65% open. This depends on the options you have selected when integrating it into HA. You can have it report "current position", or whether it is moving. (Hint: select ID = option 1 and the position options - select the one with the numeral value for both)
      On the USB dongle, there is another version that uses a hub, meaning multiple blinds can run off the one hub. This version requires one of these USB "connectors" for every blind.

      I removed the link as the devs confirmed it would be working in version 1.5. (It's now available and works as expected! - Scratch that, History is a little funky with it)

    Zemismart sound like semismart of half smart.
    I would prefer a fullysmart one over a Zemismart which sound like half smart and half of anything is like half of nothing.
