Line up the two 40" edges from the two larger pieces that you cut out, sew along the 40" edge to make one piece of fabric that will become your aprons main piece. I hope that clears things up.)
I’m about to make this apron for a friend who has a garden full of veggies. Thank you for the tutorial! It is greatly appreciated. 😊 I will be adding some pockets to the sides for her cutting implements.
I will use it for gathering pears from my pear tree and other veggies from my garden. I also want to use it for holding clothespins when I hang the laundry outside! Can't wait for warmer weather.
Finished my apron today. I added egg pockets to the inner apron section. Using my apron for gathering vegetables from the garden & gathering eggs. This tutorial was easy to follow & great. ❤ Thanks for the video.
I AM MAking aprons for all my friends who have gardens who helped me during my chemo treatments! I love this apron! it would be great for sewing and art making of various kinds to keep important things handy...like scissors, erasers, measure tape, etc.
Very nice tutorial, thank you for making it. The harvest apron im sewing is for my little sister, living in Hungary. Her family has a garden and they produce all kinds of vegetables, mostly for domestic use. That includes green peas, rhubarb, arugula, spinach, lettuce, garlic and onion, beans, radish, carrot, zeller, gooseberry, black currant, raspberry and strawberry and possibly pumpkins at the end of the season. Plus elderflower in May, she loves elderflower :)
Thank you for getting right to the point of sewing. You have taken the time to gather what you need. Your in control and know what you will be doing. So unlike most videos the flow goes. That’s great!
I have made egg gathering aprons and have been looking for a gathering apron video. I love this apron. I do enjoy your straight forward approach and clear video as well as how you show the sewing lines. I am 70 and fairly new so I do find your video a bit too fast. I am thankful I can replay and replay. The only issue I have is I have no idea what a blog is or how it works. I am hoping I am able to navigate so I can locate the measurements. I do very much enjoy when people put the measurements on the screen as I can save a screen shot. Thank you for not repeating yourself over and over. Thank you for showing us what you are making first! Thank you for the neat turning tool
Hello Gwen! Here is the direct link to the website page you are looking for: tamarasjoy.com/harvest-apron-sewing-pattern/ And if you want to watch the video in a slower way you can click on the gear image youtube shows you when you hover over the video, you can then change the playback speed slower or faster. Hope that helps, so thankful you like this video tutorial and happy sewing!
I made two harvest aprons. One for my neices BD gift as she works on a CSA Farm in CA. I made the other for myself to harvest veggies from my garden. In the winter i might use it for carrying around cleaning cloths / supplies while i clean the house!
I made one for a friend for her to gather her veggies. Next one is for my daughter-in- law to gather her eggs and veggies in. Great tutorial and easy to understand. Thanks for sharing how to sew a gathering apron.
Love this. Thank you. I always go out to garden to get a tomato or pepper and end up with a gob of those veggies and more because I see stuff that needs picked. This will be awesome
Thank you so much for making this video! I just finished making one for my sister! She's always collecting and harvesting things from her garden, but I think she'll mostly use it for gourds and cucumbers. On a side note, I found that you can also use this apron to harvest cats, but they won't be happy about it.
Thank you for this very clear tutorial ! I'm going to make one for me, and one for my mother, one for my mother-in-law and one for my colleague ! I'll be gathering apples, nuts, ang of courses veggies from my garden ! Thank you !!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have just finished making my first gathering apron to give to my lovely neighbour for Christmas. Next, I will make one for my sister. They both have vegetable gardens (lettuce, broccoli, tomatoes, beans, etc.) and fruit trees (mostly citrus) - we're in New Zealand. I found the tutorial very easy to follow and I LOVE the finished apron. Thanks, again.🎄👍
This was super simple to make thanks to your amazing tutorial. The blog measurements and pictures were also incredibly helpful. I love that the pocket is one solid piece as I feel like this increases the strength for carrying but if I were to make it again, I’d probably figure out how to cut a bit of an angle to the square to increase the pocket capacity, if that makes sense. Regardless, I absolutely love this. I made it as a gift and I’m sure my mom will love it. Thank you!
Hello, I enjoyed your tutorial, it is not too fast and easy to follow along. Unfortunately, I will not be gathering anything this year. However, I will be making the apron to give as a gift for my mom. She will be harvesting corn, okra, squash, tomatoes, potatoes, greens, etc. from her garden.
Thanks so much for sharing this pattern! As the holidays approach, I’ve been dreaming of a way to reduce the number of times I need to go up and down the ladder to decorate the Christmas tree. I think this is the ticket! Thank you for your time and effort. Much appreciated.
I was so excited to find your tutorial! I’m a beginner so I stopped and started often. I’d never made gathers either! My daughter in law has eggs to gather and things from her raised beds. She’s been wanting one of these aprons so now she’ll get one for Christmas!
Thanks for sharing. I'm looking for an apron to harvest tomatoes, beans, zucchinis, herbs for my infusion,.... almost every thing in my garden, except dirty vegetables like potatoes or sweet potatoes in fact !! 😅 This project is on my todo list, for sure !!
I am so glad you are here Lutisha! I hope this one is a good seller for you!!! If you want to save on fabric you could do one layer for the apron and create a casing by folding in a hem instead. The only thing you would need is a fabric where you liked both sides. And perhaps something a bit sturdier. But don’t use canvas fabric. I made my prototype with canvas and it was too thick!!!! 😳☺️ happy sewing!
I am making my harvest apron this week. I plan on using it to harvest my tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, green beans and a few other things. Thanks for sharing!
Can't wait to sew a few of these up for my friends so that they will have an easier time harvesting there green beans and peppers this summer. Thank you for a wonderful tutorial.
Apricots and nectarines are almost ready for harvest (just finished cherries.) Then our tomatoes and cucumbers will be ready. Thanks for a great apron pattern.
I know you did a tight zigzag for the ties in the front but won't that look unfinished and start to fray eventually? I apologize if I missed the part where you talked about it.
Ooh! I love it. I agree that some items need that waterproof lining. I was even thinking that a bag could be clipped inside with office clips. Even a rectangular plastic bin would fit nicely for those mushier items! I was considering that for raspberry picking.
I sewed mine as instructed through inserting little ties. Now I can’t figure out how you finished it because my two big fabrics are sewn together. Yours look like they are separate but your instructions say to sew them together at the top. HELP 😢
That is a great suggestion Kendra! I sometimes overlook an opportunity like that as most of my tutorials are simple enough to do without written instructions. But I can see how that would be helpful for this pattern. I will work on it, but it will take me some time as this is a side hobby :) Happy Sewing!
On the blog there is a cut list for what you will need. But you are right there is no place where I list how much to buy. I am working on a printed version that will have all that but do not know when that will be ready.
Here’s what I’ll do next one: * For the zigzagged rectangle, baste on a piece of tear away with the rectangle drawn on. The sides are 1/4” from the center. This was not made clear in the video until the next step. Zigzag 1/4” on each side then zigzag across the ends. * Gathering - in addition to marking the 1/2 point, I will also mark 1/4 and 1/8 on both the skirt and the waist band to evenly distribute the gathers. When attaching the waistband, fold the French seam to the inside. I will top stitch the French seam to the inside first next time. * Either make the ties one strip or tietack the two pieces together so they can’t get pulled into the casing. * My waist band and tie’s weren’t the same height. Next time I’ll assemble them together before attaching the skirt. Thanks for a great idea!!

Excellent tutorial. I completed it today. Thank you!
So glad to hear that Peggy! 🥳🧵
Thanks a bunch! I needed this for the perfect gift. I only have basic skills so you're a good teacher
Finished my apron today. I added egg pockets to the inner apron section. Using my apron for gathering vegetables from the garden & gathering eggs. This tutorial was easy to follow & great. ❤ Thanks for the video.
The added egg pockets sound like a great addition! I am so glad you enjoyed sewing up this project.

I will make it for my sister in law because my brother and SIL have a harvest garden
I love your sewing idea, I'm going to use the apron for gathering my clothes in the dryer.
Very nice tutorial, thank you for making it.

Im so excited about trying to make this! Will use for peppers beans cherry tomatoes basil… whatever I need to harvest
Ooohhhh!!! I love that!!!!! It sounds like a fantastic harvest 😍💜💜💜
How many yards of fabric would I need? I saw all the measurements on the blog post… would 1 yard of 2 different patterns be good?
I made two harvest aprons. One for my neices BD gift as she works on a CSA Farm in CA. I made the other for myself to harvest veggies from my garden. In the winter i might use it for carrying around cleaning cloths / supplies while i clean the house!
That's amazing!!!!! I am so glad to hear that you will be using them :)
Apples, vegetables and I will use it in the forest for blueberries and lingonberries carrying water, food and a berry picker marvelous 💡 thank you ❤
Wow!!!! That is a lot of uses!!! I love it 😻
I am making one for my sister. She shared some of her canned tomatoes with me!
Best sewing tutorial I’ve ever watched. Thank you!
I made one for a friend for her to gather her veggies. Next one is for my daughter-in- law to gather her eggs and veggies in. Great tutorial and easy to understand. Thanks for sharing how to sew a gathering apron.
So happy to hear this Lois! It makes me smile when I read comments of people who are sewing projects I have shared :)
Love this. Thank you. I always go out to garden to get a tomato or pepper and end up with a gob of those veggies and more because I see stuff that needs picked. This will be awesome
Yes! This will work great for all those veggies :)

Love your tutorial! So clear and to the point. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
I’ll be gathering all kinds of herbs, eggs, veggies - depending on the season. In the house, I think it would be so handy for tidying up!
Wonderful tutorial, very clear and easy to follow for people (like me) who are fairly new to sewing! ❤

You are so good at explaining the details of making this apron! And the visuals are so easy to follow! Thank you!😊
I am so glad to hear that Lisa! Thanks for sharing that with me ☺️
I’ve been looking for this pattern for a long time to make for my daughter-in-law. She’s an avid gardener and supplies me with wonderful vegetables.
Thanks so much for sharing this pattern! As the holidays approach, I’ve been dreaming of a way to reduce the number of times I need to go up and down the ladder to decorate the Christmas tree. I think this is the ticket! Thank you for your time and effort. Much appreciated.

Thanks for the clear instructions. Tons of tomatoes this year, figs later in the summer.

YUM!!!! Your garden sounds amazing!
I made it! Your directions were wonderful and I can’t wait to try a child sized one for my grandniece. Thank you!
Theresa! That’s amazing!!!!! And a smaller version will be so adorable! What a great idea 💡
Harvesting. Love it
I'm going to make some up for our local Farmers Market. Thank You.
Love this idea!! A great tutorial for egg collection also.
This is an excellent tutorial. Thank you!
I am excited to follow you. I will use this in my craft fairs. Thanks

And now I’m clueing in that you may have meant you would wear it and use it that way at the craft fair 😂😅 which would be great too!!!!!
@@TamarasJoyDIYgreat tip on not using canvas.
I am making my harvest apron this week. I plan on using it to harvest my tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, green beans and a few other things. Thanks for sharing!
Wow! I’m making this for my best friend. This is great. Thanks for sharing your great tutorials. 🤩
I am so glad to hear that! I am sure your friend will love it!!!! I just made one for my sister in law. I can’t wait to give it to her ☺️
Thanks for sharing this! It would be nice for apple and grape harvesting. 💯❣️

Thank you for this tutorial. I will be collecting some tomatoes and all kinds of herbs.
do you have toddler measurements? I want to make my granddaughter & daughter in law one. thanks for the wonderful video
Hi ShariAnn, at the moment I do not but I do have a toddlers apron if you want to make this one: ruclips.net/video/YtXPeSufsA8/видео.html
that was fun ,,,, wow thank youuuuu
YAY!
I know you did a tight zigzag for the ties in the front but won't that look unfinished and start to fray eventually? I apologize if I missed the part where you talked about it.
Wonderful idea ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Thank you!!!! I am excited to use mine to pick apples 🍎
question? so how much yardage of fabric do I need for each different color fabrics... totally a beginner here ..
I think if you buy two yards of fabric you will be good to go.
Cute! How much total fabric do you need for this?
1:55
How much material do I need? And what are measurements for added pieces?
How much yardage do they take for each fabric?
Tomato’s, green beans, persimmons (Will need w a fluid resistance lining, tho! They can be pretty mushy!)
Ooh! I love it. I agree that some items need that waterproof lining. I was even thinking that a bag could be clipped inside with office clips. Even a rectangular plastic bin would fit nicely for those mushier items! I was considering that for raspberry picking.
My sisters bought me a sewing machine for my birthday and one of them is a big gardener so I thought I'd give her something she could use as well.
could you please give us a measuring and cutting list. ty
Wouldnt it make more sense to sew the pockets on before sewing the apron pieces together?
I'm going to gather olive!
i want to sew this for my daughter who has a SMALL farm
I love that! And I am sure she will too :)
I sewed mine as instructed through inserting little ties. Now I can’t figure out how you finished it because my two big fabrics are sewn together. Yours look like they are separate but your instructions say to sew them together at the top. HELP 😢
Salve mi interessa molto dal momento che il modello e gratuito me lo potrebbe mandare grazie. Sei molto brava
Is this printable?
The plan is so many beans and so many tomatoes. My hoodie pocket was slightly too small.
lol, I love that you were using your hoodie pocket, very resourceful! But I am sure you will love this apron even more :)
Wish you had complete written instructions. It would be way easier for me to follow after seeing the video
That is a great suggestion Kendra! I sometimes overlook an opportunity like that as most of my tutorials are simple enough to do without written instructions. But I can see how that would be helpful for this pattern. I will work on it, but it will take me some time as this is a side hobby :) Happy Sewing!
Mine will be a present
Where's the measurements for joe much fabric?? Its NOT on the blog😮
On the blog there is a cut list for what you will need. But you are right there is no place where I list how much to buy. I am working on a printed version that will have all that but do not know when that will be ready.
Here’s what I’ll do next one:
* For the zigzagged rectangle, baste on a piece of tear away with the rectangle drawn on.
Thanks for a great idea!!

kinda sucks that your blog post doesn’t have a step-by-step :(
