Think we need a Lucy version of Craig David's Seven Days "I started this job on Monday, things took a turn on Tuesday, I was going mad on Wednesday and Thursday and Friday....". You are braver than I, our house was build in 1890 and hasn't got a single right angle in it - we learnt this early on when trying to do anything and I basically gave up and leave everything to professionals now 😀 still enjoyed watching your befuddlement, bravery and success!
Little tip. We had this coving. If you decide to redecorate in the future, steer clear of a roller near the edges … shreds it to pieces 😢 and no one needs more tears after all that effort! Looks gorge.
Thank you so much for keeping it real!! Honestly I feel like all we see online is ‘easy’ DIY jobs with no stress and mid project tears which, let’s face it, are part and parcel of the process 😂 huge well done on the coving it looks great 😊
Oh this is very cool, I've never seen coving painted the same colour as the walls! In my house they are all the colour of the ceiling (white). I installed some polystyrene coving in my own office and it was definitely more frustrating than I had anticipated but definitely worth it!
I honestly can't even tell you how far my jaw dropped when you said you'd been in the house 5 years soon! Blows my mind. Then I realised I'm nearing a similar milestone in mine and where the hell has that 5 years gone? Loved this! xx
You continue to be absolutely stupefying🎉 The perseverance you have…Taurus, is just daunting to this Aries😂 Everytime you do a diy, I say to you, throw the paint at it, cut a freakin hole in it and paint it red. If anyone says anything, slap em!!! My BFF is a Taurus and she is the soul of patience and fortitude, while I rant, rage, scream and throw things!!! A match made in heaven😂 It looks wonderful and as for the bumpies, really??? Who’s gonna be scanning the ceiling to see if you did it correctly. My hat’s off to you my dear😘
I love all your videos but the joy when I see it’s new diy vid is unreal! I bought a fixer upper last year and you inspired me to throw myself into it and give as much of it a go myself as I can. Done a lot of tiling and painting as well building built ins from scratch with the help of RUclips and blogs 😂
With a finishing thing like this, the result "not looking like much" is probably the goal right - to smooth out the edges. And in comparison to the before pics, it definitly makes a lot of difference. But I can only marvel at you being motivated to put so much work into the house, when the goal is to sell it. Yes it potentially drives up the value so you get money out of it, but for me and my laziness that would not be enough motivation....
Your DIY videos are my absolute favourite and I love that you just give it a crack no matter what it is! You've inspired me to take on some DIY myself! Love your home content so much. 🥰
It looks so good! I've thought about doing coving before but it's very intimidating 🙈 Have you thought about painting the ceiling the same pink? I've been hyperfixating on painting every room in my house one solid colour and I really feel like it makes the room feel bigger. And you never have to worry about taping haha
Well done Lucy! I think with DIY home projects, it's best to be fearless and just plunge in! You learn a lot of skills by making mistakes. We've been working on our house for years and it's so much fun and satisfying. It makes a home really yours.
I love the blind faith (up to the point) that the corners are 90 & the floors/ceilings/walls are level 🤣❤️ (fyi nee builds are rarely square) It looks very nice & right for the house
Honestly, your DIY vlogs are the best!! You approach it like me......just get it up and then see what happens. You are brilliant, just make me laugh so much. So natural and lovely. It looks amazing!!! ❤ x
I love this. im gearing myself to do my coving (lumpy 1880s house here we come!). I've learnt that DIY is really all about confidence. I've just done a Home Maintenance course (basic carpentry, electrics, plumping and decorating) and its been so valuable to give me the confidence to do these things, or ask what i want when talking to the experts (ain't messing with difficult electrics). I think your covering really adds to the room
Hi Lucy, I'm such a huge fan of your videos! I am looking forward to getting your book and love watching all your videos especially these DIY ones as they make me smile every time and bring me so much comfort 😊 xx
Ooh I've just repainted my bedroom- feature wall is farrow and ball hague blue 👄 🤌 Now I need coving!! I think it makes such a big difference these finishing touches. Also you're living room is just beautiful 😍
I also have a random box on my wall next to my fireplace like yours next to the window and as I watch this I realise they’ve dealt with it in the most strange way, the cornicing just like sits over it with a chunk cut out. But this is excellent viewing because they’ve put boring plain cornicing in and I want the fancy stuff you have
When they would be the colour of the ceiling they would have lift the room visually...thats why you do a stripe of the ceiling colour on the top end of the darker wall when you just paint. Sorry for my bad english. Love your diys...the most important thing is that you like it.
Stunning! Good job 😊 new light shade now needed and I’d love it if you switched out the white plastic light switch cover for a lovely brushed gold one ❤
DIY tip Lucy- next time you have to measure the same length a lot of times, just make a jig (a square of cardboard 95x95 or whatever) and then use that instead of the tape measure each time
Love a Lucy diy! The living-room is looking fab 😊. Also to make you feel betterI live in a new build and thought the walls would be perfect but they are not at all 😂
It looks great. I also look better from a distance so I'm feeling a connection to the coving. In my experience any DIY project involves blood, sweat & tears!
It looks really good Lucy, I can imagine how bad it was to put up. I'm in a council flat and literally have gaps in the coving I'm guessing it's where they abandoned it because they couldn't work it out.
Would it be Lucy DIY experience without a few tears shed? Well done! You inspire me to want to try to do stuff. Unfortunately, my father in law is a painter/decorator/ carpenter so...sigh 😂 I never get the chance! Xx
I loved this video. You’ve done such an amazing job. Your DIY videos are the best. You are my favourite RUclipsr 🫶🏻I hope you, Adam and flo are doing well 🫶🏻🫶🏻
I’ve done a few DIY jobs since we’ve bought a house, and thought re-caulking the bathroom would be nice, easy and satisfying job after watching a few TikTok’s 🙃 oh how wrong was I 🤣
what was the thought process behind the measuring? surely the nature of the two edges means there's only really spot it can go, where there piece is sticking to both the ceiling and the wall 😅
I can’t explain how much joy I get when I see you’ve posted
Same!
Ditto this sentiment 😊
Me too!!!
Already there for nearly 5 years!?! 🤯 I remember a time before yer house hunt started. Tempus fugit!

I'll admit i'm not into book stuff, so i'm so happy to see another DIY video!
It changes the room so much, well done Lucy!
Watching a new lucy video is always my favourite cozy morning

I'm seriously so impressed with your home improvement skills! It turned out really well and does give your living room a finished look.
Who can normally solve a problem like Maria 😂😂 howling Lucy! The finished product turned out so well!
Me every time you said ‘sawing’
WE’RE SOOOARING, FLYYYYING 🎵
Hanging that mirror on the wall will also make a world of difference.. beautiful room

Can't believe you've beeni the house for 5 years already. Time has flown.😮 Coving looks great, well done for persevering. 😊

I love reno/decoration content anyways, but when it comes from you, it is elevated by your humour - You're a joy to watch ♥
Your DIY videos are my absolute favourite and I love that you just give it a crack no matter what it is! You've inspired me to take on some DIY myself! Love your home content so much. 🥰
Literally the perfect upload 😊 having a slow day and you always brighten the mood Lucy ❤️

Ooh I've just repainted my bedroom- feature wall is farrow and ball hague blue 👄 🤌

Blimey !! Where did those 5 years go???😳😳love it btw ,really has finished the room off perfectly 💕💕Well done lovely !!!
haha I loved it! Also your enthousiasm when you start, it all sounds so familiar to me! i love the result!
It makes suuuch a differente in the before and after! Looks great!
I also have a random box on my wall next to my fireplace like yours next to the window and as I watch this I realise they’ve dealt with it in the most strange way, the cornicing just like sits over it with a chunk cut out. Watching you measure the coving was so funny! 🤣 I saw that weird corner and thought, ‘I don’t think she’s realised’ then it dawned on you! Hahah
When they would be the colour of the ceiling they would have lift the room visually...thats why you do a stripe of the ceiling colour on the top end of the darker wall when you just paint.

I literally didn’t even realise I had coving in my room until now hahaha 😅 so have a whole new appreciation, well done! looks amazing!
Looks amazing! Really elevated the room. Good job!
It looks fabulous! Also huge appreciation for your soundtrack 🫶🏻
I am very very proud of youuuuu. You are soooo clever x
Looks fantastic! It has added a little elegance x
Anytime Lucy posts a new video, it’s a good day!
DIY tip Lucy- next time you have to measure the same length a lot of times, just make a jig (a square of cardboard 95x95 or whatever) and then use that instead of the tape measure each time
Love a Lucy diy! The living-room is looking fab 😊. Also to make you feel betterI live in a new build and thought the walls would be perfect but they are not at all 😂
I love this! I’m just about to attempt coving my study so this was exactly the motivation video I needed 😅
I'm loving the Sound of Music reference ;). You did an awesome job my friend. Looking good! :)
This has now been added to the ever-growing list of things to do around the house.
It looks great. I also look better from a distance so I'm feeling a connection to the coving. In my experience any DIY project involves blood, sweat & tears!
It looks great from over here 🙋♀️ Great transformation 🌸
Love it! I love coving!!!!
❤ haha when you first showed the corners I was like „…are these the wrong way round…?“
Just what I need this morning 🥰
Love your videos and especially your DIY jobs!! 🥰 Where are Earth did you buy the lemon cafetiere that is on your mantle piece??? I love it!!!
The cove looks amazing btw :D 🥰 xxx
You did great!! 💜🌻👏🏻👏🏻
Your brain computing the corners was literally me at every situation involving angles
It’s like you’ve been listening into my discussions with the other half 😂😂 I feel I can do this 👀😅 this looks fantastic 👌☺️🙌❤️
It looks really good Lucy, I can imagine how bad it was to put up. I'm in a council flat and literally have gaps in the coving I'm guessing it's where they abandoned it because they couldn't work it out.
I love your strawberry mug!
THIS LOOKS SO GOOD👏👏👏
The taylor-swift singing is the sign of the tides changing......optimisum creeping in 😂
Loved this Lucy - looks great!
RESPECT .. you did it yourself and that’s how you learn and you did a good job
😊
Would it be Lucy DIY experience without a few tears shed?
Well done! You inspire me to want to try to do stuff. Unfortunately, my father in law is a painter/decorator/ carpenter so...sigh 😂 I never get the chance! Xx
The time jump to three days later 😂 End result looks lovely!
I loved this video. You’ve done such an amazing job. Your DIY videos are the best. You are my favourite RUclipsr 🫶🏻I hope you, Adam and flo are doing well 🫶🏻🫶🏻
Cornichons are amazing!
You've done very well 😊
New build walls and ceilings are definitely not straight 😂 we had the same issues with coving in our new build
Congratulations on the book Lucy!
Quick question, can you tell me the make and model of your record player please? X
I am literally crying laughing can she fix it yes she can 😂 this is me with every diy job now coving is brave ( I got a man in) 🤣
I love it by the way well done to you x
I’ve done a few DIY jobs since we’ve bought a house, and thought re-caulking the bathroom would be nice, easy and satisfying job after watching a few TikTok’s 🙃 oh how wrong was I 🤣
It looks amazing! I don’t think I have the patience to attempt this, mine would probably be very wonky 😂
saw the overalls & clicked immediately 😊
I watched this a realised I’ve been saying caulking wrong my whole life! 😂
Looks great to me but I’m gonna say it. I have to say it. Paint the ceiling too!
paint the ceiling the same shade of pink
Looks great you have a lot more patience than me.
But you always finish, you dont give up❤️
Ive always seen coving the samr colour as the ceiling not the wall 🤔
Was I considering crown molding before this video? No, of course not. Was I looking at pre-adhesive crown molding after this video? Absolutely.
Fair fucking play woman!!!
Where are your curtains from?
Just a reminder that styrofoam is a main ingredient in napalm, so gorgeous, gorgeous girls are suuuuuuuuuper careful with that stuff near the stove. 😅
Really random, but does Adam know Tom Cassell? I'm sure I saw Adam at a party in a really old Life of Tom video...
When is the wedding? 😍
what was the thought process behind the measuring? surely the nature of the two edges means there's only really spot it can go, where there piece is sticking to both the ceiling and the wall 😅
A new build? With straight lines? DON’T be ridiculous 😂😂😂
…… who’s Maria?
It was a Sound of Music-based pun which on reflection was perhaps not my strongest
@@LucyJaneWood 😂 thanks for the explanation! I figured it was either from a song or a movie but no idea which one 😄
Google the song "How do you solve a problem like Maria".
So excited for your author era and my copy of rewitched xxxx 🪄 ✨
