Vipers are so damn cool! Major head-turners for sure! I live in a small town and a few weeks ago I saw a Gen 3 Viper coming down an exit ramp and I was way more excited to see that than any of the C8 Corvettes I’ve seen around here!
Karl, on the matter of hot water; 121 F degrees is considered hot enough to do damage if left in contact too long. The military showers I worked on were 100 degrees, summer and winter. Hot water heaters are sold with a 120 degree setting. Bath water is comfortable for most people between 104 and 105, hot tubbers have had heat prostration from over exposure to those temps. A 160-170 degree temp would put a cherry like the one you have on your calf with just a short exposure. I did plumbing to pay for my motor head bad habits!
Mr CarWizard. My 1994 dodge viper drone is also out of control. I can't drive the car without ear plugs. can you please share the amazon link for the Chinese high-flow cat? It would be a tremendous help. Thanks much.
Always been my dream car since I was a child and still today i'm in love with the Viper. That engine noise, the way the front lift a bit, the little crackle from the exhaust between shift. Must be a pleasure to drive this beast. I cannot live a life without having one of these amazing cars, this video gives me motivation to continue my studies.
This is honestly the most appropriate super car for folks our age. I’m a march 79 baby. I’m not sure many of the younger car guys can respect this, and the older car guys just wouldn’t want the chore. What a car for our era. Very signatory of it.

Then we burned all of the rubber down to bologna skins!!!! Love the channel and buy Mrs Wizard the car of her dreams already damn it! Lol Best regards from NY.

I feel so blessed that these are finally legal to drive and own in LHD on Australian roads. My eyes and ears finally have the pleasure of seeing and hearing these early vipers on our roads.
Nice, very nice. 12.5 for the that Jag is very good price, but the icing on the cake is that it is sorted by you. One will be sure that is very good car and it will not cause you trouble for quite some time. Thanks.
I absolutely love your Viper, the ultimate classic from Dodge! The color, the rims & excellent condition made it the score of a lifetime, enjoy it man!
Watching Car Wizard getting in the Viper reminds me of Chris Farley trying on the sports coat in Tommy Boy. I'm a big guy myself and I KNOW I'd never fit in that Viper!
The entry and exit tutorial was Most informative, and Nobody covers that stuff. I want to buy a new Corvette so bad, but I’m too embarrassed 🙈 to try and get in and out of one.
There is an exit helper that I use for exiting my C5 Corvette. It fits in the door striker latch and provided amazing support to exit. It's not permanently attached and I keep it under my seat. It will save your bolster 100%.
Wizzard, you haven't heard drone and felt pain until you've completely straight-piped (headers, no cats, no muffler, side pipes) a Viper! I use to race GTS's with headers, no cats, no muffler, and side pipes... on a racetrack with ear protection AND a helmet on, pure pain! No joke! Never even consider this! A friend bought a 2017 ACR and wanted to do this. I warned him not to, he did it anyway. Long story short, he put a muffler on it the next day. They are BRUTAL completely straight-piped! Rear exit gen 2 GTS's aren't quite as bad being behind your head, but still some semi-painful drone! Also, a Galardo sounds nothing like any Viper. The firing order and flat plane vs cross plane crank sound COMPLETLY different!
Watching you describe how to get in your Viper brought back memories of 6' 2" me, in 1962, at 16 yoa, trying to learn how to get into the driver's side of my father's 1961 Austin Healey "bug-eye" Sprite! Yeah, it was that funny! It took more than a few tries, but I was bound and determined to drive that little jewel. and all's well that ends well. Thanks for the memories!
Heh. I had '01 Camaro SS with Flowmasters (I bought it like that). The startup noise was amazing, and the short stints around town sounded very nice, I thought that was perfect. Then I took it on 2 hr drive on the highway, and oh boy, did I get a headache. Ever since then, I appreciate quiet, understated rumble far more.
That exhaust sounds a lot better than the creek/crunch of that 30 year old Dodge interior plastic as Wizard shows how he gets in and out. Changing out some of that as it cracks and breaks from in/egress wear is going to be pure joy🙂
Hey man, nice ride! I had a special-ordered Viper with the 455 Boss Super Cobra Hemi.I installed 5 Harley 1.5 barrel carbs, Edelstein headers, Hookey cams and even an Iskancragar muffler. What a ride!!
Sounds like a pair of stereo inline-5s. Which isn’t a bad thing as they have a unique sound of their own, and I loved our VW I-5. Maybe if the Wizard puts in a cross or X pipe, as mentioned at one point in the video, he’ll get that true V10 sound.
Yes, it sounds sooo good!!! My first Mustang I did 2 chamber Flowmasters, long tube headers and an X-pipe with high flow cats.. the drone was horrid when cruises, but under WOT it sounded so mean
Borla exhaust makes a great side exhaust replacement at reasonable prices. Borla very popular in time period especially with PANTERRA. Love the sound of a Panterra!
Well, I am glad you like you car; I do miss the sound of Mr. T's Van, but, I am 61, & there is not much better than the sound of a strong V-8. Had a '79 F150 4x4 400 ci with glass packs, it was nice, almost 10 MPG on the freeway at 55 on cruse, but it sounded great, & it could move! Love your vids, Thank you... & Mrs. too... :-)
I really like that you kept the rims toned down and look like classic 90s rims. It really completes the atheistic. Now you've got me itching for a convertible sports car....but I need one that fits 5, hmmmm.
It sounds SO much better than a stock Viper! Without that exhaust, they sound like a UPS truck! Nice job on the wheels as well...They look great! Thanks, Mr. and Mrs. Wizard! I'm looking forward to Mrs. Wizard's new toy!✌️❤️😊🇨🇦
Two things. 1. Early Vier owners liked to cruze in parking garages, gun it, and set off the car alarms with the boom. 2. You have not entered many sports cars. The proper way is the reverse of what was shown to get out. Stand outside, step your right leg in and slide over the sill and under the steering wheel. Then swing your left leg in. This eliminates the unsightly scrunch trying to swing both legs in from the outside.
You're such a good and honest man, seriously.. could be easily asking 15k for the jaguar but you didn't and that goes a long way in who you are and how you conduct yourself.. I pray you get every penny you're asking so you can turn it into an awesome and fun gift for your wife.. bless ya both 😊
You can wrap the pipes with the header temperature bandage to help reduce the temperature. It'll help for sure and you can touch it with your chins any time with no issue.
man if i had a spare 13k, i would snag that jag from you. beautiful sled! i love that kind of euro trash! that sound is fantastic! your description of a gallardo is spot on, it has the warble for sure. huge upgrade
I found the same thing on my 1990 Corvette I used to run at the track. To me it seems like many modern mufflers assume a cat is upstream and if one isn't there they sound like warmed up crap. At any rate I had custom dual exhaust and then ran high flow walker cats and the actual elapsed times at the track were about the same. Heat soak in the intake was more of a factor than the cat itself. Also the Viper does sound amazing.
If you watch channels like DDE, they thrive on setting up cars to deliver the loudest most ear shattering exhaust. To the point of adding "flame tunes" that shoot fire several feet and sound like gun shots. They take the cars to rallies and meets where hundreds of fans gather at the rear bumper to record and experience V12 power up close and personal. They grin nervously and wince. They are also going to become hearing aid customers. Too many people think you just "get used to" loud noise"....when you are actually permanently going deaf. Sore muscles get used to strain. Ears are one time only wear items.
I used to work, and mod, those cars back in the day. Exhaust note was the most common complaint, as you noted. We put on custom headers and Borla mufflers with a full 4" exhaust. Sounded amazing and no drone. Another thing that will wake up these cars even more is changing the final drive. Stock is 3.08, and with double overdrive the gearing is way too tall. Changing to a 3.42 or 3.73 makes a massive difference. A stock car with a 3.73 would lose nearly a second on the quarter and close the ratios on the transmission a bit.
Thank you so much. I am especially enjoying this series as I just purchased a 1998 RT10 in January. Hoping you will show us how to upgrade the steering wheel pulley.
Oh yes, perfect choice with the wheel colour and it sounds just perfect, not over bearing, reminiscent of a gallardo, Volvo 5cyl of course, a quieter Carrera GT even. Love it

The early Vipers needed a custom exhaust. Stock, that V-10 sounded like a big toilet flushing when you revved it up. Now it sounds great! Also, those wheels look nice!
Stop to consider what Dodge was producing back in the late 80's/ early 90's. Then, like a bat out of hell,...they drop the Viper on the automotive world. That's the hardest, boldest move in modern automobile history. This car set the tone, raised the bar and paved the way for all the high power cars you see today. Adding to the low production numbers is the fact that many were crashed. These are becoming more and more rare. You can bet on their value going up, making this car legendary.
