Man I freaking love 1Aauto! All of your instructional videos are simple and to the point. I bet dealerships don't care for you much, but me? I just appreciate what you are doing so much!🤠🤙
1aauto been doing RUclips videos for years....these guys give the best customer service, love them
If the mechanics in my area had this attitude and were as nice i wouldnt watch youtube videos to fix things in the freezing cold and just give them the car instead. God bless
A tree
I do appreciate that you are showing people the RIGHT things to do and what NOT to do, by the torque and the safety with everything i went to college for automotive and even the guys i went to school with werent always bright enough to do this.
The video was great. Changed first strut in an hour. However, be careful about the upper attachment, there is a notch that has to be aligned towards the center, as there is a bolt hanging down and if the top isn't aligned correctly, it won't fit.
Great videos guys! You folks save me as shit load of time in my garage! thank you and keep it up! but if you could do some more altima videos like maybe how to remove the valve cover and replace the gasket since its a common repair for that vehicle,.. that would be greaaat.
+Matthew Edwards Thanks for checking us out! We'll keep this request in mind for a future video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
You sir, did an outstanding and bang up job walking someone through this. Especially very well on details and being careful without a bunch of droning useless comments. Hands down the best!!

Is this the same set up for the 2010 Altima sr 3.5l sedan? I’ve been told it’s different and that they’re the same with online results being equally all over the place
Will leaving the brakes and wheel hubs hanging like that damage the ball joints of the axle shaft? Or not?
Oh and great video by the way, keep up the good work 👍👍
No because the lower control arm is supporting it all
@@EM-828 thanks
Awesome. Thanks, Dude 😂
Does the strut mount make bottoming out sound when it's bad.
Where do you look up the torque specifications for the bolts on the struts? Is every vehicle different with the roque specifications for their bolts in the struts?
So my mechanic replaced my shocks for my 08 Altima coupe but now when I accelerate, brake, turn left and right it makes a click or clunk sound. Is it that he left it loose?
It didn’t have that noise before it’s actually scary because I don’t want the vehicle wheels to come apart.
My car makes a squeak noise when it jumps. Took it to a friend of mine and he said the shock struts are bad is it possible i can just replace that or will i need to replace the whole shock ?
What is the brand name/specs of the digital torque wrench that you are using? If you don't mind me asking. Thanks.
Such a good video!!
Do we need alignment after install front shocks?
The sway bar torque spec is 58 lb ft... from your own other video on the same topic!
Hello there thanks for amazing channel acutely i have problem in my nissan altima and it 2013 and take it to dealer many times and says there no nothing in car so what happend in my car is when i press kik down the car go to right its like lose control on it so please can u help me
COOL, thanks for the video
Do I need to replace the whole unit or how do I know if I would need to replace the spring as well? I get options for buying just the shock without the spring.
Is there any reason why.. it makes a noise when turning left to right?
Maybe tie rod ends need replacing
What happened to the sway bar link missing a step to alignment it into the joint
"If you want to use a little bit of thread locker that's up to you. I would personally but for this application we're not going to worry about it because it's my ex-gf's car."
In order to easily remove the sway bar link the car needs to be jacked up off the ground on both sides.
Just jack up the rotor til the sway bar link fitting on the strut reaches the same heigh as the sway bar link end.
I have a 2008 Altima 3.5 trying to change cabin air filter,I watched alot of videos but not for the 3.5 because it had more stuff to remove, please help
Anyone know what size the three strut tower bolts size are? On both struts I can't get one bolt in because they aren't quite long enough.
😅 I’m repairing my car in cold freezing Dark night because I’m an immigrant in US and can’t afford to pay thank you sir
Can this still apply for a Nissan Altima
Just replaced the shocks and struts just as you did , but on my 2014 altima, I hear clunking sound when I turn the wheel left or right, is this a sign of a defective part?
This is for 06 to 12'
I have a 2006 Nissan Altima 3.5.. I was told by machanic it takes 3 hours to install
Great video. I have a 12’ Nissan Maxima, same suspension exactly, followed all the steps but now it makes a clunking noise when i turn and i know it comes from the strut since it never made the noise before, it clunks 4-5 times as i turn left or right. Any idea?
Is there an alignment on the strut tower bolts or anything like that?
I had that problem before on my maxima, it was the ball joint on the lower control arm
You might have to tighten things harder. Sounds like it just might be loose. Since you said it never made it before then you’re on the right track cuz it’s the last recent work that’s been done so I suggest you before you Jack the car up, with the car on the ground, turn the car on and turn the wheel all the way to either side so you can look at the suspension more and rock the wheel back and forth and see if you can see movement. Have a 2nd person help you so you can look at the suspension. The other thing you can do is bounce the car up and down hard on one single side. What I mean by this is pick 1 of the sides and put your arms on it and push the car up and down with all your force and see if that narrows it down to the struts or if you see movement with someone helping you. To be honest the 2nd method might not see any movement but you’ll be able to feel the suspension and possibly give you an idea of what it could be. These are just options to do while the car is on the ground but other than that I would go back around and tighten all the bolts and make sure they’re really tight. Unless something else has completely worn out or something was installed the wrong way. Could be tie rod ends but ehh not so much. The only other thing I can think of is possibly ball joints. Sway bar link or the actual sway bar could be loose if you loosened the actual sway bar too but doubt it. Hope you found the fix though! Update if you could! It’s be cool to find out what fixed it for ya.
Videos are excellent but are the parts from 1A Auto any good at all?

I’ve been shopping 1AA for years. Never had an issue yet...
+Chris Todd Thanks for your business!
I didn't put the bolts in from the rear is that an issue
Awesome video!!!
Thank you for video. Do you need to get an alignment after putting in the new shocks? Thanks
+Ramon Ayala Yes, the vehicle would need to be aligned afterwards.
Yes sir. Critical to have it done ASAP or you can ruin your tires very quickly.

How can i compress the shocks im planning to install new shocks on my nissan altima 1987 but idk what tool.to use to put the spring back
+Gman 207 We would suggest using a spring compressor tool
@@1AAuto awesome thank you :)
+Gman 207 Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
What are the torques?
Thanks
Where can I get that wrench with the light thing on it I need one?
Probably a tool truck like snap-on or Mac tools. You could also look online, there's lots of reputable tool vendors out there.
Awesome Job Man 👌🏼
Thanks for the great feedback! +Jon Guerra
can I use different brand of shocks in nissan altima?
+Noel Ruiz As long as the shocks are listed to fit your Altima, the brand doesn't matter. Thanks for watching.
So therapeutic
How much would you charge
What’s the name of the bolt at 1:49
Alignment or no ?
+Benjamin E Typically any time you replace any part of the suspension it is recommended to get an alignment.
My strut didn't come with cool spring
Unless you purchased a ready strut then you'll need to reuse the old spring and parts. You'll need a spring compression tool
lucky len coo cooo
Do you need to do an alignment afterwards?
I would to be safe, worth it either way.
My struts are so banged up I can't even get an alignment done lol that's why I'm replacing them.
