Brian Capron who played Richard Hillman was terrific at his time in Coronation Street definitely best villain on show by date, He simply killed the role. Shame you never see him playing similar roles like this especially in Hollywood movies has look and voice. Underrated actor
If the Richard Hillman saga was a Hollywood film, Brian Capron would have won an Oscar. If there were enough Oscars to hand out, Sue Nicholls and Helen Worth would have won too. Great acting performances.
So cheesy but it was gripping at the time! Also clever that the producers played smart by not including Maxine in the trailer (the eventual victim). Nowadays every storyline is ruined before its even aired lol!
I actually laughed because i was in a silly mood i imagined him saying " well i was just wondering which of my neighbours would look the part in a nice margined smock". How silly am i. 😂😂
'Well I was just wondering, which of my neighbours would look the part in a nice margined coffin' Funnily enough, I was actually thinking of that myself the other day. 😂😂😂. Just randomly sitting at home on the sofa, and then that just popped into my head. The stuff you think about when you're tired. 😂😂😂
Gotta admit they pulled it off big time Hillman, I think it was done textbook all the way through. From the moment he left Dougie to die it changed him psychologically,, once that first “breakthrough” is made theres a taste for it, theres the man capable of it inside, theres no turning back. Killing the wife was the main one, after that theres no stopping the man within from taking over. His tormenting Audrey was next step psychopathy, the intelligence of the man working in tangent with the killer,, killing Maxine he’s beginning to get very arrogant with it because hes got away with leaving someone for dead, killing his wife and attempted murder with Audrey,, then he gets away with the Maxine killing and the attempted murder of Emily.. I think this is the point where he loses the facade though, he stops using his brain and starts getting extremely brazen and arrogant. He was peak intelligent killer around the Maxine murder, after that he believes the winner and he loses control.
"They won't bury me!" 😂 Corrie Promo's were horror movies back in the day you don't get pieces of Art like this anymore 😂 What a masterpiece thank you for uploading. "Well I was just wondering which one of my Neighbors would look the part in a nice mahogany coffin." Can't beat the brutality of the Hillman still haunting the Street to this day 😂
hi can anyone tell me when this originally aired? I’m watching the old corrie episodes and I want to make sure that I’ve seen all the episodes that aired before this advert before I watch it. would be such a great help!

What made Richard so good was that you always had a bit of sympathy for him.
Richard Hillman is still my favourite character from Coronation Street. Brian Capron did a great job portraying him.
This is my favourite piece of Corrie promotion ever, I'm sad to admit I watch it multiple times a month.
He and Patrick Phelan will always be the best most sinister Villians in the History of The Street.
they can’t even be compared richard was amazing
Richard was way better
Him an pat was the ogs
He was the best villain in the early 2000s. It was between him and Trevor Morgan from Eastenders.
Both were great.
Remember this ad like it was yesterday. The music was so chilling!
WHAT A FUCKING LEGEND! Been searching for this promo since 2003, cannot believe its here, I ADORE it! Thank u for uploading

This kinda reminds me of a trailer for an Alton Towers ride

OMG! One of the best promos ive seen for Corrie! Thanks for uploading! :)
Corrie was brilliant in those days and Brian Capron was outstanding.
Sinister, calculating, chilling, psychopathic the epitome, the zenith of a perfect Corrie villain. Brain Capron you sir are a legend.
Only ever soap storyline I was absoloutly hooked on and loved! x

You're Norman Bates with a briefcase
Best villain they ever had,the way these soaps are know, wouldnt be surprised if they somehow brought him back.
Now thats how you hype up a murder storyline
Thanks, never saw this particular "Killer Corrie" promo before. :)

Ominously enough that quote turned out to be true they didn't bury Richard Hillman cause he was cremated.
King Richard 👑
By far the greatest villain of all time
Ha ha the things that went through his mind here. What great things to think about during a quiet evening at the Rovers.
Absolutely iconic!
A most compelling villain, you actually half felt sorry for him, unlike most villains after him- who have been one dimensional in comparison
This is a brilliant promo
Thanks! I was the pallbearer (right of screen). Been searching for this for years 🙏
Brilliant actor who as a 7 year old I was terrified of!
if i had my own soap and had a killer, i would do it just like this. Creepy keeping you on the edge of your seat.
The best soap villain of all time!
Supreme storyline.
Greatest ever villain, a legend! Loved Corrie when he was in it! Still do right enough lol
It was early Cheney and David stuff that got me interested but Richard who like made me a fan for sure
Aired 18 years ago yesterday

Thanks for sharing! Never seen this promo before. Have you got the other one that's set to Nat King Cole with Hillman walking on the street?
Just caught up with the classic ones on ITV3. Was this when he got Maxine.
Great advert

I think this was aired something like the 7th of March.
It was Richard’s last murder, so January 2003.
@briancapronfan Yes this was Feb/March 2003 - I remember it well. Corrie at it's best!!
Just out of interest, what year/month was this shown on tv? :)
Oh yes of course, what about this promo, was that shown around February and March 2003 aswell?
