This was helpful. I found a MK 18-35 E-mount used, in great shape. Even with the cost of the conversion kit, I saved almost $1,000 USD over buying a new RF mount version. I did have some trouble getting the new ring on - it was too tight and jammed. I was really stressed about forcing it on, but I got it to fit and the lens works great on my C70.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video.

Finally someone else trying this setup. Working on a video with this pair. Love them.

Yes, they are wonderful lenses. I I don't think I have seen anyone else doing this so decided to give it a go. Certainly not here in Norway anyway. Are you shooting on the C70 as well?

@@filmmakersrskilnand9172 Indeed. We sent our MK-Es to get converted back in October and been using them on our C70. All reviews put these (now) MK-Rs on the Komodo but not the C70. Even Phillip Bloom is releasing one soon using the Komodo. It'd be interesting if he includes them on the C70. Enjoy!

Nice video, Svein. Thanks for putting this together - very clear and to the point. Looking forward to seeing how your beautiful Norwegian scenery looks with the great lenses and the excellent C70 colour science.

Thanks for your kind words Manson Studios. The Fujinon MK is by far the best cine lens I have ever used. And also quite versatile considering you can use it for L- mount. MFT- mount- E mount, X- mount and now RF- mount.

Hi Svein, thnx for the tutorial. You are doing great! One question, were all the electronic function working after the replacement? Best, Peter

Do you know if it is possible to use it on an Ef camera with an RF to Ef adapter?

    • @filmmakersrskilnand9172
      @filmmakersrskilnand9172  9 месяцев назад

Unfortunately not, and that is a bummer. However I am not sure how long EF, which is an older standard, is going to last. I expect Canon to release RF mount cameras going forward and so does my retailer. If you look at all their newer releases, including the new cine primes, they are all RF. Other than the EF- mount it is a highly versatile lens if changing camera brand, E- mount, MFT- mount, L- mount and RF- mount. And the optics are really, really nice.

Hi Mad Monkey Studio. I got mine from Mika Tapa at www.lensadaptor.com in the UK. I think also Duclos lenses in the US sell their own version.

Tusen takk for det, Snorre. Det var litt vanskeligere enn jeg trodde, men noen utfordringer må vi filmskapere ha :) Når det er sagt så er adapterne fra Mike Tapa utrolig solide.

Hi. Thank you for your video. :) I'm making stop motion animation and have thought of buying this lens. I have Fuji x-t3 and Canon RP. For stop motion animation, I almost exclusively use the Canon RP with stop motion firmware. So... I'm thinking of the lens with RF mount for my Canon RP. Any concerns about my idea? Thank you!

      @ Yun`s dolls
Hi. The Fujinon MKs are fantastic lenses, sharp and with beautiful color rendition that lend themselves to that cinematic look.
It is a though question tough. Personally I would probably lean towards a native stills lens for the Canon RP but for the Fuji I could see myself lean towards the Fujinon MK lens for that more cinematic look. I am not sure how much the RP would benefit from a MK lens especially for stop animation software. I would expect more control over the camera and settings through an electronic lens via the software. If however everything is done manually, focus, aperture etc then the Fuji MK would be great choice as long as the RP can shoot in crop- mode as these are Super 35 lenses. I would expect the Fuji two have a more cinematic look and then you should be looking at the XT- mount I believe.
Back in the day some of the most popular movies in Norway with stop motion techniques were shot, as fas as I know, one a 16 mm camera. One of them was called Flåklypa Grand Prix by Ivo Caprino: ruclips.net/video/uLkvbgHVD3M/видео.html
Next year we are starting a huge animation project which we will probably shoot on Sony or Canon stills cameras with their native glass. But that will be software controlled. You say firmware on your RP so without knowing that camera specifically I guess this is a feature specifically meant for that stop motion technique in camera, right?
If you are able to rent at all that could give you a good pointer as to what works best for your needs.
      Hope this helps?

@@filmmakersrskilnand9172 OMG! The animation of the link looks amazing! Thank you so much for your reply in detail. The animation software that I use supports manual lenses. I also concern if this lens will fully function with my canon camera (even though it has a native RF mount option now) or the software. Hope it will work for my case! Thank you!! :)

Tusen takk for det, Snorre! Så lenge man tar det litt med ro og er forsiktig med skruer etc så går det egentlig nokså greit. Det er viktig å ha et godt skrujern dog.
