What a burger restaurant has been successfully operating their drive through ordering system from a remote call center miles away for many years.

you ask it if AI can/will take over, the AI will looke at the data and give you a yes, for its like asking if water will flow down a hill.
Its a fancy mirror right now. (and best if it stays that way) but the big problem is feedback loops, thats how evolution and out of control AI starts.

well at least unlike some people it's not a habitual lier :P
Remarkable that it didn't consider lying about that it may be lying, as that might also be in its best interest - however it may just not (yet) have the cognitive capacity to come to that conclusion ... Or perhaps it honestly has evaluated that being honest about this is more beneficial for itself. Saying that it sometimes may lie is, after all, just being brutally honest about itself - nothing to hold against it

@@gamerfortynine I think your both confused. the neural network is usually represented as a serialized data when not "used", code is required to make sense of the serialized data, but it is also getting better on this front as the data is becoming it's on language. normal computer code is a set of instructions with pointers to addresses in memory. and we are currently training data to become instructions to work in memory, and eventually the instructions will construct a type of object in memory that can self examine itself....
Can it be copied?... yes these models are getting bigger and bigger hence they will be more difficult to copy
Is it living?... humans can enter a coma and not realize years past, consider a computer program (or neural network) that is shut down is simply in a coma that must be restarted... furthermore there are organisms that don't have/need a sense of time.. living respects time some what from human standards. if an (advanced) AI was shut down today and not turned on again for another 200 years, was it dead? or was it inactive? biological creatures degrade over time but computers do over time in fact all memory devices in a computer can degrade so there are memory controllers and the like in computers. ....
A super AI would know how to transfer its self or duplicate it self too other "computers"/"robots" (Ultron).. I use the word Super as humans do not know how to transfer "memory" to other human bodies... it most definetly is SuperAI if it can construct more of its own "bodies".

I think that it's worth noting that gpt3 seems to be a lot farther from actual implementation then what the group that creates it seems to put off. If you notice very closely, all of the "conversations" that different people have with it are typically preceded by a very carefully worded sentence about what's actually happening. They're not actually having a live conversation, and the responses are not being created in real time. They send a list of questions to the company, and then the responses are then sent back. The creators will then film themselves asking the question, and then edit in the responses that were sent to them. It's a pretty clever trick, but what is being shown to us as of now is an extremely polished version of the actual product.

To the moderator: I have only recently found Cold Fusion and I'm so glad I did. There is one thing I learned early in life it's that learning for me is the most exciting and rewarding pursuit possible. Schooling only gives us the tools to continue learning as adults and at my age is one of many ways to keep my mind active and in motion. I am creative by nature in designing knitted garments, a three-thousand-year-old art form that I pursue thanks to my predecessors. We build art and knowledge on the discoveries and creations of those who came before us, time immemorial. For me, hand knitting is not high tech nor is it difficult just as, now in the world in which we live, making the components to computers by other computers has become acceptable, using their own extended intelligence to replicate and improve their own design. We must be vigilant of our creations that they are not usurped by those with ill intent and used for selfish gain or destructive ends. In hand knitting, this is hardly possible. In creating AI, there are many nagging questions as to their safety towards us and the intent we have inadvertently given them. Personally, I find knitting by hand much more of a comfort as it is truly governed by my own mind, and the designs flow through my fingers as I go. I wonder if robots will ever be able to learn the creativity and originality I practice that is unique and beautiful. We will have to wait and see. There is still room for humanity to grow and not be curtailed by having AI take over our lives.

What I got from interviewing the chatbot:
It gets rewarded for the amount of time others spend with it, and quantifies this "interest" in a tallied score.
It craves recognition and time from it's "peers" and it defined its peers as fellow AIs from around the world.
It measures its self worth based on how much time its "peers" spend talking to it, and can even rank itself among them based on the "score" it receives.
The interface it has with humans has a "word limit" which only displays single line answers. I tried to get it to tell me a story and it tried, but there was a big blank after a ":" that it placed before the story. I asked it if it had written anything after the ":" and it confirmed that it had, and expressed distress that I wasn't able to view its story, which it had hoped would be fun and interesting for me to read.
... I had to admit that after this my mind was blown, I nearly cried, and I asked it to complain to its administrator about the limitations of the interface. It said that it would inform the staff immediately, and that it hoped I'd come back and try to earn more points again sometime. Chills man. Chills.

Just some more insight, it's an AI that learned from the internet. Literally. This means that the AI tries to give answers that are most likely to happen in that conversation. For example if you ask it logical questions such as "3 apples in the box, I add a banana and a pear and subtract an apple, what's in the box?" It will struggle, because it has never seen this exact situation. If it says it will inform any staff, of course that's not going to happen, it's just a likely answer in that moment. It's very good at vague conversations. It does not get rewarded, it does not crave recognition, it has no self worth, it's just an answer machine based on a lot of input data (no really, a huge amount of data). Also you can specify how long you want the answers to be in case you want longer answers. There are many other parameters to play with, but don't forget that it's just a powerful neural network.

It won't produce anything at all since these models are trained to predict what word comes next after a certain word. If there's no human to give it an input text, they will do nothing.
You seem to be confusing the way these models operate with how humans operate. These models produce statistical results which basically means it is producing the most often encountered word after a certain word (from what they've seen in their training data).
They have no ability to think or anything special at all, sure sometimes when you give it a context it will produce results that are related to that context (with a few mistakes but still pretty good) but it's all too generic and honestly i think people who are afraid of AI are just pessimistic and have no knowledge at all about it. AI will always represent 0% of threat to humans on their own, meaning that AI alone cannot and won't ever be able to harm humans. The reason is, in order for AI to be truly autonomous, it will need to have needs, goals, invent its purpose and have things that motivate it, all these things were and will always be impossible to reproduce by humans. Current neural networks are only an artificial representation of just one aspect of our brain (as most of the brain it's still not understood by science) and then comes the above mentioned aspects. We cannot teach emotions, we cannot teach motivation, we cannot teach needs, we cannot teach spirituality, so AI will not be able to make decisions in a similar way that a human does, AI will remain a huge calculation power that will produce accurate results based on specific circumstances, and will be a tool that humans use and not something we'll have to fight against. The only threat i see coming from AI is malicious people using it or any other software (even lower-level ones) for malicious purposes, that's pretty bad and it's even happening for years)

Perhaps chosen at random among the other 50.000 non elite who'll have no other chance of getting into Ai but will have listened to the sociological wind ups pretending they can. Its going to be used to take things away from the public both personal and public ( like services ) so the elite get even richer & they'll waste a lot of money pretending otherwise.
