I like how committed you are to encouraging everyone to buy an older flagship, as opposed to the newer on for more money. It use to be that you have to keep up with the flagship. But starting with the s9 and note 9, you can keep an older phone for a extended period of time.

Bought the S20 ultra 5g when it was first release, still use it up until now and stillas fast and battery last as long as it was when it was first bought, nothing was broken or repaired except the back glass, just a few minor scratches and Ive been using this without a tempered glass ever since and still as clear as ever. I gotta say, this is the toughest phone I've ever had.
When I had the s20 ultra I did love everything about its functionality it was really good. If I didn't want the updates and the fold 3 I could've easily kept it.
I have the S20+ Exynos 990 8 GB version, and despite being behind the SD 865 version, it still rocks. Much better than the majority of the recent intermediate phones, probably will last more 4 years easily.
looking to get an S20 ultra and they only have exynos here too but its only $250 (absolute steal for a former $1000 phone) so I just need to know from your experience with the s20+ to see if the ultra is worth buying:
how's battery life? i know exynos is infamous for bad battery
I bought this phone almost exactly one year ago when my iPhone 13 Pro Max got stolen at the Greyhound station in Cleveland. I love it. It has a giant 6.9 inch 120 Hz oled display with great cameras and a premium feel, for a very cheap price (I got mine for about $380-$400 on Amazon). Now my main complaint with this phone is that it has pretty horrible battery life. And it feels horrible, too. You use it and before you know it it's dead. It's shocking how quickly it goes considering it has a big 5,000 mAh battery.

Your right about exynos chips! The new ones are Okay at best but the older ones are just horrible especially going from any snapdragon to a exynos thats when you really notice the difference
I picked up 2 of these from my local phone store for 350. I'm not upset that they're not receiving updates anymore At the end of the day the s20 ultra is still a flagship phone.
I still have it as a secondary/backup device with my "old" 256GB SanDisk Ultra Micro SD, unfortunately doesn't work in my s23 ultra, I can confidently say that performance wise is pretty comparable, as fast and smooth with the latest one ui, the biggest gap between them is the battery life, snapdragon 8 gen 2 against Exynos 990 is a huge difference, the s20 ultra have OK battery life, not good or bad just ok, but on the s23 ultra I easily get 8-9h screen on time with 30-40% left in the tank that's ridiculous compared to the 5h ish hours on the s20 ultra, camera wise ultrawide and primary are pretty close, 10x to 30x is pretty decent and usable but yeah you can tell the s23 is a big jump in quality, I would call it Good cameras on the s20 ultra and Excellent in the s23 ultra, I still love it in it's costume aura red color, if it wasn't for the battery life I probably wouldn't switch, since they are pretty comparable, by the way love you videos man, couldn't agree more, people show really consider this " old " flagships far better than the A54 or some other mid-range devices, 95% people worldwide for the average user it's more than enough
You might be able to get your SD card going again when you plug your phone into a USB Type C hub. It's a shame flagships don't have this support internally anymore.
My dad recently got the S20 Ultra to replace his older Note 9, whose battery has gone bloated, but will fix it. But me on the other hand, am a technology adapter unlike my dad, so I decided to get an iPhone 15 Plus to replace my Galaxy Note 9. My whole family currently has the Galaxy Note 9 as their phones. My dad and mom bought their Note 9s new back in late 2018, when the Note 9 was still brand new and VERY EXPENSIVE. I was using a Galaxy S4 during that time, but that got replaced in early 2019 with a Galaxy J7 2018 (Model SM-J737A). I used three phones of that same model in 3 YEARS. One started having charging issues in Late 2019 and got replaced with another SM-J737. Then, in 2021, had charging and headphone jack issues again. Then in mid 2022, the screen broke. My dad then got me a refurbished Note 9 from Amazon during mid-2022 to replace all those broken J7s. But now, in late 2023, the Note 9 will soon become obsolete, since it's nearing 5-6 years old, so I now decided to replace my Note 9 with the iPhone 15 Plus, and like I said, my dad did buy this S20 Ultra from Amazon to replace his Note 9, but also still plans to use his Note 9 for a few more years to come as a spare device. I will also use my Note 9, but as an offline media device, since I might have to use the same line from my Note 9 for the iPhone 15, but the existing AT&T line will have to be transferred from physical SIM to ESIM, since the 15 Plus doesn't have a SIM Card slot.

But I gotta ask have you encountered any of the older flagships (particularly AMOLED/OLED) screen ones that got the green/pink lines issues?
I know the S20 and Note 20 series have that problem and even devices from other brands have the issue like all the OLED iPhones. My S20 FE 5G just got it last night and the screen randomly freaks out with colors (mostly green and white) and blacks out and touch isn't being recognized anymore rendering it unusable outside DeX mode.

Nah...the s20 ultra was plagued with focusing issues. I couldn't wait to get rid of that phone .
S20 & Note 20 series is so good until this day. But, if you don't really need the SD card and the Stylus, S21 series might be better because it has a better performance (Snapdragon 888), better camera quality, and major Android upgrade at least to Android 15.
This didnt age well. S20 and Note 20 series won't support Android 14

I don't give a rat's ass about Android OS or security updates, just need a cheap phone with good cameras, sd card and good performance and the S20 Ultra fits the bill so I'm looking to get this.
This phone is still good yes but I'd argue the cameras lack a bit the 100x is a gimmick on the s20 ultra and autofocus issues is still a bit occur I'd pay the extra and get a s21 ultra or a s21 plus a nicer phone imo
I'm telling you they should've made the S22 and 23 Ultra the form factor of the S20 Ultra or S21 Ultra with the Spen slot definitely would've been a game changer

I bought the s20 ultra new on August 2023.
I consider to buy the s23 ultra but as i researched my self and cause i use my phone most to watch videos on RUclips i didn't want to give the extra 700 euros for the s23 ultra.
S20 ultra is the last flagship with an external sd slot and a box containing a charger and earphones.
It looks boring yes but also very professional and it has a 4x and 10x optical zoom..
It has a good camera amd you can find it very cheap..

I get it in 2020, Exynos soc and was thinking to get a new phone, after doing factory reset, reinstall back my back up I changed my mind, with 12GB RAM with option to ad the RAM plus it is very snappy, still with it original battery,120hz screen it still hold better than my iPhone 14

By far the ugliest camera module for sure. I actually loved mine, had the best battery life. As for the 120hz, I would make a Bixby routine for 3200x1440 at 60hz until 25% battery life then Bixby would change it to 1080.

As compared to my s22 ultra and s23 ultra my s20 ultra really is a huge downgrade in the camera department.
In broad daylight it performs very well but in the night it is worse than a midrange offering . The telephoto also kind of produces washed out images when the lighting conditions are not extremely good and i have constantly remastered the images using the gallery app to overcome the problem of images getting washed out in artificial and slightly low light conditions and recently the phone has developed several green vertical lines .
