    This has to be one of the best jigs that I have seen in a very long time. It is simple but elegant, you have designed a project that is easy to build, makes it easy to do repeatable cuts, and can be built quickly and easily by just about any skill level. Thank you

    Great music on this one! I’m using your ideas here to make my own sort of X-Y slide table. Your videos are so packed full of great examples and you’ve edited them so that the relevant steps are pretty obvious and in logical order. For me, presently the utility that you are building or building upon is not as important as the methods that you make use of to finish the result. You have come up with a very dense ‘watch and learn’ style of teaching and I thank you for sharing so much woodworking wisdom!!

    Excellent work !!!!
    Just one question: ...why did you choose a rod of 12 mm diameter?
    It is supposed it has a step of 1,75 mm every full cicle...
    Am I wrong, or are you moving 1,75mm each full turn of the manual handle (increment of 1 in the digital counter)?
    Thanks in advance! 👍

    • @CraftyDude
      @CraftyDude  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hello, yes I'm using 12mm threaded rod, I always make full turn, example; two turns cuts 2 turns skip or 3 turns cut 3turns skip, but you can use different rod, 14mm has to have 2mm step in one turn and if you use 2mm wide saw blade then every turn you will use full cut of your blade

    • @daniel_stella
      @daniel_stella 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@CraftyDudeThank you very much for your answer... I thought every hit in the counter was 1 mm advance, but now I realize it is the wide of your saw blade :)
      Well done ! ...and Thanks again !

    This is cool. I am confused why not just use a router table and just move the fence? Maybe this is quicker? So many ways to do everything.

    • @CraftyDude
      @CraftyDude  Год назад

      I have to make jig for a router and then compare them. But I think with a router will be hard to get clean cuts in soft wood planks.And you wont use smaller bit then 6mm, so you can get just bigger figer joints

    • @jimmy_jamesjams_a_lot4171

      This is meant to teach ignorant fools like me who need to see many examples of applied methods. For sake of teaching and my learning. I really admire how he starts everything from scratch and even though his other videos demonstrate these exact same methods, his teaching by ways of quite so many examples in his media is super valuable to me.
      Edit: He is teaching ‘mechanical engineering and design by woodworking’ I would call it. Or wood collet!

    I know at least 3 ways to make box joints, just as accurate, but without all the fancy gimmickery. And for considerably less cost also. Different sizes no issue either.

    Reading all of the comments it seems I need a blade with 1.75mm kerf. Is that correct as I am struggling to buy one. Do you have a blade which you can recommend?

    • @CraftyDude
      @CraftyDude  10 месяцев назад +1

      Just take a bigger threaded rod with 2mm step, and use 2mm blade, which is easy to get😎

    What’s wrong with the super accurate and repeatable process this replaces? It just introduces error to box joining. Maybe it’s good for another thing?
