If she had stayed on the horse would have kept galloping, and its in an enclosed area which could have lead to both horse and rider getting injured. She had already tried bringing the horse back to a canter and she tried circling. Lily already explained that she would rather have herself hurt rather than her horse and herself which could have been very nasty.
