Man, if only mainstream NRL media would be more like this. Love your work, Hayden. Ivan is such a deep thinker, and you can tell the type of leader he is for the club. Hope to see you back in Penrith colours again one day, Hayden.
Love this discussion. Have watched it twice now as I’ve identified so much. I coached my daughter for 6 years and to this day she says I was tougher on her than her teammates. Certainly she did not get recognition where she deserved because mum was the coach. When I retired from coaching she got so much more recognition. Still not sure I should have handled it differently. Still very proud of the maturity and life skills she achieved. FOPO is so true.
@@GTEWithHaydenKnowles Welcome brother that was an incredible watch! I’d love an updated Nath podcast or even Gus Gould, I’m sure he has a few yarns for us! Much love 🐾
That feedback is much appreciated . I love it when an episode makes a difference to one person or thousands of people. With your enthusiasm the NRL might share it and build up the subscribers on here . You should be my manager ! 👍
As a former athlete, in my 54 years, I have never understood people that go after any sports identites, especially coaches. In the 1970s & 80's I lived in Melbourne and followed AFL. I recall the media reports were generally fair and rarely involved in muck raking or the good old pile on when a team has a bad game. I moved to Sydney in the mid 1990's and I instantly converted to NRL, and I have not looked back. As much as I love the game, the constant attack from certain sectors is not only lazy journalism, but helps to drive the narrative that it is perfectly ok to rubbish both team and coach. Ivan and his boy are exactly the types of people I have nothing but admiration for. I actually follow the Roosters but love any good game or play. The negative comments say everything about the creator, and nothing about the target. Thanks Hayden, good questions, appreciate allowing Ivan to answer in his own time without interjecting. Well done, you have a new subscriber.
Thanks so much for that I’m depth message and thanks so much for subscribing. I’ll try to keep up that type of content for you now! Appreciate all feedback 👍
Great podcast Hayden. It was great to see Ivan so relaxed and the flow of the convo was smooth and organic. Great questions and love your style of podcast interviewing making your guest feel so comfortable.
I have no doubt you blokes could talk till the cows come home as you could see the respect and friendship for one another throughout the podcast. As a stout Penrith Panther fan, I was wanting this yarn to continue as a lot of us footy fans in general feel starved somewhat at this time of the year. I’m also a podcaster myself (fairly new to the space) and the footy fanatic in me would have loved to have heard some of Ivan’s takes on being a back to back winning coach and the challenges he and the team face ahead, but the podcaster in me enjoyed the refreshing angle you took without needing to discuss the GF wins, which I know would be topics every other podcaster would have asked (including myself). It was not my intention to plug that i’m a small time podcaster but what the heck. Would love to connect, learn and network with you. For now stay safe and keep up the good work Hayden.
Cant deny Ivan's brilliance as a coach. Often i look at NRL teams at work out whether id want to play for the coach. It's no coincidence that the top NRL teams have a coach that instills confidence. Ivan is world class.
Thanks Mike, every chat is to try and help or inspire someone. Tried not to talk about all the success or the grand finals etc but more of an insight into the leader behind it all. Thanks for the feedback 👍
@@GTEWithHaydenKnowles That is what i enjoyed the most, no doubting the teams success, but an insight on how that type of success is achieved and the ups an downs one must experience to get to that final goal. A great podcast/chat. Great work.
Met Ivan through a Panthers on the Prowl program in 2014 for HS students who had a future in sport. I still think about the words he said every day. One of my favourite people I’ve ever met. Also, love any Mitch Kenny chat ❤
Cheers. Dylan is one of my favourites mate and inspirational in many ways , the rock of their world class defense and the type of character you want in any team. An episode with him will make a difference to many. I’ll reach out and tell him he is a special request! Thanks for feedback 🙏 👍
@@GTEWithHaydenKnowles Thank you Sir! Wish you all the best in the new year. As a panther supporter hoping for the 3peat but as Cameron Cyraldo once said "we will get what we deserve"...maybe he got that one from Ivan hahaha
@@GTEWithHaydenKnowles well being a Kiwi and Warriors supporter from the time they entered the comp in 95, I liked listening to him talk about his time in NZ and at the Warriors as a player and then coach (same with your interview with Nathan him talking about his time growing up in NZ). And just your overall questions throughout the interview were good and made Ivan think about the questions before answering. And obviously through your relationship you could tell he was comfortable with you so he was very relaxed and opened up. Good stuff!
Thanks for feedback! Appreciate it and appreciate the support . Any suggestions to make better or who you would like me to get on, DM me on Insta if you ever have suggestions. 👍

Hayden, a very good interview. Ivan Cleary has now emerged as one of the Great NRL coaches. He has taken time to flower it’s now happening for him.

Outstanding insight - 2 great men, will always remember my short conversations when I was around the club - Jake Pethybridge
Glad you enjoyed that Jake ! even though you already had insight I’m glad you liked the episode. Thanks for the support 👍
