I guess most people aren't as willing to make NRL their entire world and life's purpose and realise, at the end of the day, it's only entertainment.
As someone who is new to League (4 years now) I have to say this man has had an absolute impact on this sport and I whole heartedly stand with him on the fact that 20 years from now Rugby League will be on a different level much respect Gus

It's a testament to Bloke's growth after hearing about Kempy at the NRL season launch at the start of the year and Gus having no idea who he was to 8 - 9 months later having him on the pod. Amazing to see!

Gus would of forgotten more about rugby league then most fans know. Only really him Bennett that has been around at a high level since the 80s. Hope they stay around for a long time they are the heart and soul of the game

I love hearing Gus outside of the TV network, he is the most fascinating person to listen to about behind the scenes of an NRL club or the game itself, especially when he doesn't have the filter. Great job beak.

Absolutely hate Gus' commentary these days but there is no denying what a brilliant mind he has been for the game and continues to be. Fascinating interview. Can we get a part 2 dedicated entirely to the super league war? I feel like Gus is holding back a lot about the Rabbitohs under Piggins and our expulsion from the comp in the early 00's.
Not to mention the Storm salary cap

It's a real pity that Wayne isn't the type of man (for whatever reason) that can impart his knowledge/wisdom of the game to the fan in the same way that Gus does 😔

Kempy fast becoming the voice of the ppl Nine n especially Fox n the Tele n Herald better wake up theyll be obsolete in 5 years in regards to content if they dont start learning what the fans actually want to hear and see.
I don't know about that buddy when you consider that James Graham is now pretty much the Fox/podcast crossover equivalent of Kemp. In that sense Fox are just as much in touch with today's non-mainstream as 9 are. Plus Graham has Cheese in his corner too, so their content and access is a bit closer to current players. Good to have a variety of angles to choose from anyway, not just Kemp or Horo or whoever.

23:00 as a Nz Warriors supporter, we know ALLLLLL too well what years of defeat and consistent Losses feel like. Even tho The Wahs were totally thrashed against Brisbane Broncos, for us Fans it was still an absolute HIGH bc we hadn't tasted Finals since 2011 and to just make it THAT far this year? 99.99999% of The Wahs fans are proud of that. OG Gus imo always brings up some interesting points about the Game and its future.

When you listen to Gus talk about development you realise how complicated it is. There are no quick fixes if you have underinvested in development. The Dogs fans wanting to sack the coach and get rid of Gus should watch this and try and understand how difficult turning the Dogs around is. There are no shortcuts.
The thing that baffles me is, who do they think is going to replace him? Wanted, GM football, must have experience of building junior development with proven success and experience in managing NRL clubs. That pile of applications must be enormous........The three most successful teams in the last 15 years - Storm, Roosters, Panthers. Who helped set up two of them? I'll give you a clue, his name starts with G and ends in us......

The premier competition globally could be in the us in 20 years time with nrl and super league acting like feeder clubs to teams in new york and la and players earning 10m a year
