    It takes years for fighters to get where they are, 6 months is nothing. Much respect to him. Takes a lot of guts to step in the ring and he did it in that age and within only 6 months.

    Big respect to Idris. I am an ex very average amateur boxer. From SA. To spar with guys like Francois Botha is no joke. And the kalakoda family are legendary. As a 52 year old who still spars and does the odd baby fight. Competing with father time is also no joke.

    Elba is a Beast and takes a lot of balls to enter this game and get in the ring.
    But these skills take years to develop, and facing a high level guy that does not hold back, he might get "lit up like a Christmas tree". Best of luck mate.

  • @Liquidcadmus
    @Liquidcadmus 7 лет назад +26

    putting him in his first match against a guy with so much experience is unrealisitc and stupid.
    real fighters are pitted against opponents of similar status. they should have matched him against another inexperienced guy. maybe they were afraid he would lose against a beginner. but nobody expects him to win the first time around anyway. he lost that fight but theres nothing to be ashamed of. it takes courage to go into a ring against another fighter.
    most likely they matched him up against that guy because he could control himself more than a newcomer and not hurt idris.

    Does anyone else find it weird that they're lettting Idris spar with pros without any protective headgear? Idris looks pretty badass, but he's still an amateur.

    • @goldjustgold5942
      @goldjustgold5942 5 лет назад +8

      Often times more than not head gear makes sparring worse because you're partner hits you harder knowing you have it on.

    • @raksh9
      @raksh9 5 лет назад +4

      @@goldjustgold5942 Maybe so, but headgear helps protect you from cuts, which could stop you from fighting on a given day. Every boxing gym I've been to, very few spar without head gear, and every amateur I've seen up to Olympic level spars with head gear.

    • @goldjustgold5942
      @goldjustgold5942 5 лет назад

      @@raksh9 Well they'd an easy one. On the Olympic level 1) you have to get used to having it on because you still fight with head gear on in the ring, at the Olympics. Then 2, At that level people /fighters know how to fight with self control. They even more have stats on the dangers of wearing head gear weekly sparring. I like the fact that you mentioned that it does indeed prevent cuts beecher its true. I'll give you that you. You have a point but it's still dangerous on average.

      They're pro's. I'd be more concerned about him sparring intermediate amateurs with headgear than sparring pro's without headgear. The pro's have no ego and nothing to prove by knocking out the big actor. They can go in there as professionals and give Elba the work he needs to improve. There's a reason they call them sparring partners and not sparring opponents. I would trust real pros to take care of Elba.
