It’s in very poor condition and a danger to the public. Scrapping the vehicle is the only safe and sensible option and the funds earned from the scrapyard could be used to build a Sentinel exhibit and dog park on the museum grounds.
For what it's worth I've got every confidence that Steve with the support of the rest of the team can get this iconic piece of Australian armour up and running again, just look at what you've all achieved with vehicles that looked to be in far worse condition. So good luck and I hope you get the support you need to succeed.
That would be amazing to have it running, being so rare makes it very important in my view and also the fact that is Australian. Great work as always team.
She lives in the AUSTRALIAN armour & artillery museum. we absolutely need to see this old girl get a full restoration & the sound of those triple caddies fill the air once more.
Good morning from Virginia,USA. An interesting design for a home grown tank. Worthy of all the TLC Steve is known to posses! A piece of Australian history, begging for a return to running order!
Fix it Friday with Steve. What better way to head into the weekend. Thanks for the video Kurt. Yes it would be amazing to hear the 3 Cadillac engines running again.
I realy enjoy these tank engine repair videos. It also makes for a nice hold over between tank restoration videos. Im sure there are a lot of tanks that need a good once over to keep them in a good condition let alone maintaining them running.
How good is Steve!! I love everyone at Aus Armour but Steve is just the best addition to the team. So much mechanical knowledge, completely unflappable and just an all round nice bloke. Love the Steve episodes... 👌
The restoration and preservation of ANY of these old vehicles while it is still possible to do so for future generations is a goal that should never be questioned. Learning from the past so that we can honor the achievements and sacrifices of those who built what we have today is important, but learning from the past so that we don't make the same mistakes is priceless.
Bovington tank museum Has the Worlds only running Tiger 1 So it will be great if Australian Amour and Artillery Museum has the worlds only running Sentinel
Not getting the Sentinel running is a Crime Against Australia! A vehicle this historically important, whether it entered combat ... or not, whether it was the fore-runner of a line of Australian designed & built tanks ... or not, NEEDS to be brought back to life! Find the funds, Boss!
Three separate electrical systems on this tank. 6 volt system for the automotive components, a 12 volt system for the wireless, the Graviner fire system and MMG cooling pumps and a 40 volt system to power the turret traverse motors.
Love the channel - keep up the good work showing us where the tracks hit the dirt. Would be great to have a top-down talking head from the boss explaining strategy and decision-making.
Worth getting it running just to see what it sounds like with 3 engines! I never knew Aussie made their own tank. Over the ditch here all we have is the Bob Semple!
As a Brit I really want to see this Aussie tank running again in Australia where it was designed and built, it should be a (the) star of the museum, after all according to Bovington there are only 3 left in the world, making it rarer than the Tiger
Tree Sentinel, one AC iii cruzer (thunderbolt with a perier-Cadalac 25 pdr gun at the Australian war memorial, not restored.. grrr) one Aciv mock up ,aciii hull with a 17pdr antitank gun, not the intended set up but you get the idea. If in production in numbers the ACiv would have been comparable to m4 Firefly, the allies could have had another 310 tiger killers come D-day if deployed to Europe, and another 190 25pdr armed varrients. But the production order was cut due to man power shortages, quite a few aciii hulls were cast before the program was cancelled.
Thanks for putting this together; the more vides from Aus Armour the better! :-) Can't believe it's got those 3 engines; would love to see them working.
I know next to nothing regarding the Sentinel and obviously I didn't know that that it was powered by 3 engines but it seems quite difficult to work on those engines! I'm really looking forward to see your skilled performance!!
As a kid living at Duntroon in the late 60's, my brothers and I would climb all over the Sentinel that was parked on top of Mt. Pleasant. Dad was an Armoured Warrant Officer and I remember him telling us about the history of it. It is now in the AWM's collection, stored in the annex at Mitchell. So I would love to see you bring yours back to life!
100% please get this iconic tank running. I'm a big fan of the Sentinel, I supplied Jason some factory photos for his book. This could be the show piece for the museum .... there's no other Sentinel running, lets make this the worlds one and only. TJ aka Tim
Great work as always. 8006 was running back in 1996. I suggest have a look down the plug holes and see how rusty the bores are. You should see how easy it is to remove the frame with the engines, fuel tanks and radiators, that will make life easier. The engines have individual clutches so disengage them otherwise you are trying to turn 3 engines with the starter motor of one. When you have one running it can be used to bump the next.
Im in Melbourne, and a trip to Cairns to visit is a bit of a challenge. Having a running AC1 would be a massive incentive to get the job done. Im sure Im not alone.
Those engines were probably Australian built but we didn't manufacture any truck engines at that time as far as I can tell. And Yeah, I'd love to see this running as well. A sentinel t-shirt would be nice as well ... I didn't see one when I was there last year.
Imports. Cadillac were able to supply them at a very good price and as many as were needed as nobody else was using them. Once they had been shown to be useful as a tank engine the US started putting them in their own tanks.
@@bettongmi4340 Okay, I wasn't aware we bought these, we did produce engines of a similar size under license but not larger engines. The design was suppose to be geared to what we could produce locally.
shared to a few of my friends would love to see this time piece come back to life would happily watch a full recording too of the process less formal if it makes it easier on the crew.
I love to see it running again. Would also like to learn how the three engines are hooked up together. I've seen the M24 Chaffee with its two engines running and how that setup works
Please restore, another vehicle I know nothing about. You are the most informative Tank and Artillery channel on RUclips. No shouting with occasional gentle humour. Hope this continues.
Back in 93 or 94, I was tasked by 158Tp to carry one from the railway workshop in Sydney down to the Armoured Corps Museum in Puckapunyal... Was a fascinating exercise... Smallest (proper) tank I'd ever carried... Can't remember if it was a runner or not, but it was decided I'd winch it onto my float... Just to be safe...
@@bettongmi4340 Thanks for verifying... Once it got to Pucka, that was pretty much my part done... Though I did wander through the museum before I got posted to Darwin... Looked back on the old beastie with a smile...
A companion series examining the historical record of the Sentinel manufacturing process in the vein of The Weald Foundation's presentation about the LP1 Carrier would add value to this clearly much anticipated restoration by your excellent team . Could you consider a crossover with another channel ? The whole FV4005 phenomenon seemed to be hugely beneficial to all the participants.
I mean... it's Australian tank in Australian museum. it should be a priority to begin with
kind of rude not too isnt it
This.
Triple Cadillacs running again in a piece of Australian military history ! A must definitely.
Get her running come on guys
There might be some 1940s Caddy powerplants in the US if these doesn't run... but these can be pulled out, but it'll be a PITA.
I vote to get it running... love to see those 3 engines barking away!
Hear Hear pun
Please restore it and get it running. What better project for the Australian Armour and Artillery museum.
Would love to see it running.
Heres the first donation to help fix the Sentinel tank, the pride of Australia !
We NEED this iconic Aussie tank running. It'd be awesome to see this Aussie icon running around at an AUS Armour Fest in the next few years.
Tell the boss of Aussie Armour Museum; the whole of Australia, if not all of tanker's of the world want to see the Sentinel running.
You can add this POME to the list of those desperate to see this awesome piece of Australiana restored!
Damned right!
It’s in very poor condition and a danger to the public. Scrapping the vehicle is the only safe and sensible option and the funds earned from the scrapyard could be used to build a Sentinel exhibit and dog park on the museum grounds.
Former US Army tanker here. Yes, tankers of the world want to see the Sentinel running.
A Sentinel running! That would be SO FANTASTIC.
That would be such an interesting tank to see taken apart, and put back together again. :D
For what it's worth I've got every confidence that Steve with the support of the rest of the team can get this iconic piece of Australian armour up and running again, just look at what you've all achieved with vehicles that looked to be in far worse condition. Triple Caddys has to sound awesome!
That Batman transition killed me! Thanks Kurt, needed a laugh...defo keen to ride the mighty Sentinel one day at AusArmourFest.
ya. loved it!
There is hope for humanity.
Hell yes, our own home grown tank has to see life again - the only *running* Sentinel tank in the world!
That would be amazing to have it running, being so rare makes it very important in my view and also the fact that is Australian.
Great work as always team.
She lives in the AUSTRALIAN armour & artillery museum.

Cadillac is returning to Australia so a trip to their service department would be a nice gesture. And a surprise.
YEEEEEESSSSSSSS DO IT DO IT GET HER RUNNING PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
That's pretty funny.
Watching Steve trying to Coax an old starter motor and engine back into turning over.
Let's see it happen. 👍
❤ would love too see this running.

I would donate to a fund to get her running again. She needs to run again, such a rare tank and Australia 's great treasure!!
Ditto
Make it run! You basically rebuilt a panzer 1. From scrap. This one, just needs engine rebuild. Should be might simipler
Looking forward to tracking progress - good luck!
That would be a great and nearly unique tank to get running. I'm sure it's within your capabilities. One day I may get there to see and hear them.
Australian, cooling looking, and in good condition... Seems like a good project 👍
Fix it Friday with Steve. What better way to head into the weekend. Thanks for the video Kurt. Yes it would be amazing to hear the 3 Cadillac engines running again.
100% aus armour needs to have a running aussie tank and a cool one at that.
The only one.

Please get it running
Definitely should get this unique tank running. Tell the boss I said so. 😂

Love to see it run. I liked the comment about the branding in the dngine bay, " Australia, when we made stuff!".
This would be a great story to follow! Watching the crew pull the engines out, clean them up, rebuild as needed and reinstall. Please!!!!
Yes Please!
I'd donate to that fund-raiser as im sure a lot of people here would to see this old girl running.
Even not going to the muesem I would love to see it running when I might go one day and it tells history
Get 'er done ! Will be a great series and another runner 😉✔️

The members have clearly spoken we all want to see it returned to running order....
Having that as a runner would be fantastic!
Can’t wait to see you boys working on it. The sound will be amazing.
What an AWESOME bit of kit.
Given the walkthrough of everything Steve has on his fix it list, I’m surprised (and happy) this got priority 👍🏽🤠
I’ve never previously even heard of this tank, an absolute must to get it running again, triple engines, wow just wow.

This is a unique piece of Australian history, please get it running if at all possible.
Such a unique vehicle, and as an extra bonus, An Australian made vehicle- Its a must-do
Please make this happen!
Even if it needs to be a modern engine replacement, this needs to be living history, restored.
I'm from Rochester, New York and I would come to Australia to see this tank run.
Please get that piece of history running! What a great restoration it would be.
Make it a top priority to get it running. Dare I say even if it’s ahead of any other project. It’s a matter of national pride!
you MUST getting her running, she symbolises Australia for many in the tank world
If you are running a military museum in Australia, you must have Australian gear working. Let's go.
The one at Pucka Tank Museum is running again so make it No. 2 running in Australia.
Absolutely get it running!
we need this tank to operate at it best. I had the privilege of knowing a Tank operator that drove one. 😀
I have been weeping with laughter at Kurt's tank at warp speed continuity graphic. It really would be great to see the Sentinel running.
Yes! Please get it running and driving again! Thanks.
It's an importent part of Australian military history and there's so few of this tank in existence.

The Batman / tank reference made me laugh out loud. Well done sir🤠

The Boss gotta make it pay. I think a Sentinel driving around next AusArmour would be a big draw for Aus public.
Thumbs up from Alberta, Canada. Get her running.
Mate, it's your patriotic duty to get this tank running again.
And would make dome great Workshop Wednesday videos.👍

Col Nick Moran wasn't a fan of the turret layout, but I'd like to see what you guys have to say about it.
Moran said it couldn't take a bigger gun than the 2 pdr 🙄
You have to get your own Australian tank running again, no question 😊
Get the Sentinel going and you will get free around the world coverage.Free advertising for the museum . Worth the chance fellas!!
Would be amazing to see this classic up and running
This is one tank that we definitely need to see running 👍🏻🇦🇺
Yes!!! Pull the engines and get them shining like a new penny! 👍
Get it running! Amazing 3 engined tank!
I love to see it running again. Would also like to learn how the three engines are hooked up together. I've seen the M24 Chaffee with its two engines running and how that setup works
Come on guys, it's THE Aussie tank. The first and only tank to be designed and built domestically in Australia. Ya just gotta get it running.
I would like to see it restored to running condition! Thanks Steve! Cheers from Missouri USA..
My first visit to the museum and it was the first tank I went to so yes let's get it running.
So ugly it's cool ! I love looking round the Sentinal they have at Bovington here in the UK.
You absolutely MUST get it up and running again !
