The M45A1 issued to the USMC was originally FDE. More of a lighter coyote tan color that they had issues with excessive finnish wear they later went to a darker earth finnish. The marines also had issues with frames and slides cracking. It was quickly dropped and replaced with the Glock 19 by MARSOC in 2011 then later the SIG M18. You mention the play in the slide and frame. Keep in mind that this is meant to be a "combat" handgun, so tolerance are a little lose to allow for fouling, sand, dirt, etc. I'm a Colt fan, but all people are paying high money for is the rollmarks, not the gun itself.
I believe they fixed the frame cracking issues with the newer Colt M45A1s. In reference to the combat aspect of the slide to rail fitment, I’ve found that sloppier guns are more prone to get fouling then tighter. That’s why we done the 2k round test on the staccato and it didn’t give us a problem one. I’m not sure if i believe that or not from colt though, i believe it was an excuse so they didn’t have to hand fit it imo.
The double recoil system is perhaps the worst thing that Colt has done to their pistols. Get a set of Wolf Springs and you are good to go. Also, I looked up Novak sights in the dictionary. It said, "rear sights that suck!" 🤣🤣
The rattle may be more the grip safety more than the slide to frame fit. I say this because this has been the case with quite a few of the Colts that I’ve owned over the years. That this happens with Custom Shop Colts is absolutely unacceptable and due to significant management deficiencies.
I understand that, we had the grip safety fully decompressed when shaking it though. You can look directly down the back of it and see how sloppy of fitment it is.
Not a huge fan of stainless 1911s but those polished flat look great on this version. For the price these go for a Wilson Combat is sounding like a deal for what you get.
I have the colt combat unit and it shoots great. I will say I got mine much cheaper. It is aggravating about the holster but a buddy gave me a Springfield safariland holster and it fits but without a light. I had cascadia concealment make a holster for me.
The CCU is a different gun then these by alittle bit. If I’m not mistaken the CCU was having problems as well with the frame cracking on some of the first ones. I believe they have it figured out now though
@ you have it reversed. The original m45 test guns had problems cracking and that’s when they beefed up the pic tail and that’s why they are unique in holster fit. It was like under 10k rounds they had problems. So for marsoc or sf or whatever sof unit it’s not uncommon during a week on the range for a guy to shoot 500-750 of pistol in a day. The worry isn’t will it last a 500 round gun fight, will it last a training cycle and have life to last a deployment and then repeat that process again.
Thanks for your honesty on this Colt.
@@MrZonacat1 thank you for viewing brother!

Hi Webb I love you!!!
Thank you brother! We love you to!
Dang
The Matchcup pistol used to be the pinnacle. That one is a far cry from yesteryears quality.
Even then, it wasn’t the tightest 1911.
Thanks for doing the torture test on the Radical Firearms 16 inch Ar 15, God bless you
Facts…reasons I went DW and trp..wanted that first run Tim showed with pelican case in fde back when they came out but kinds glad I kept my $
You more then likely done better off, especially with the Dan Wesson

The only tight fit you want is the barrel lugs lock up and the barrel to bushing lockup. Slide to frame fit isn’t of much importance.
I understand that, accuracy is barrel to bushing fitment 100%, but I still would have expected it to not sound like a tambourine haha
@ Haha yeah, for that kind of money, I totally agree with you!

I thought the same thing. For the price, these guns just aren’t worth it

Hows the slide and frame fit???
@@mrchow489 very crappy
Does It Have The National Match Barrel 😎 Like The Standard Series 70 Gvt Model
It does if I’m not mistaken
Just another overpriced S80 Colt unfortunately. Better option is a Les Baer or Alchemy Prime.
I agree, your paying for the rollmark on this one
