The legendary Platinum Preppy comes in blue-black, and can be equipped either as a fountain pen (with three nib sizes), a marker, or a highlighter! My first fountain pen ink was a blue-black, but was ironically Noodlers' Air Corps, which is rather notorious for having a green tint once on paper. My present favorite, Diamine Twilight, is also a quite pleasant blue-black.
The Pentel Energel and the Zebra Sarasa Clip are my favourite. Seeing them compared with other inks, I have to say they remain as favourites. The Energel is the overall winner simply because it dries so fast and the black is my ride or die; but both are really pretty.
does the sarasa clip dry much longer than the energel, or is it not by much? i wanna switch from energel to the sarasa clip, but im concerned if it takes a lot more to dry
I moonlight at a pen store, and blue-black is my go to recommendation for ink colors…especially when clients tell me they don’t or can’t use “colors.” It’s not a full pen, but I think the best blue-black ballpoint refill is Monteverde’s Parker style in a (I think) 1.4 tip. It’s so smooth, and the color is quite possibly the most perfect version of blue black I’ve seen outside of fountain pen inks. 1.4 sounds huge, but it writes like a 1.0. And the best part is you get to choose your pen body!
Absolutely my favorite ink color. I really don’t like black ink but blue black is a good replacement when black ink is required. (Especially the darker shades). One our local establishments had a sign that says when signing documents black or blue black ink only. Finally getting much deserved recognition.
Blue black is my favorite! I have the Signo 151 mentioned and the fountain pen I never take out of rotation is a Twsbi Eco T I keep Diamine 1864 Blue Black in. I think it’s easier to read on off white paper than black.
Use a refillable J. Herbin rollerball to either fill up on a Monteverde Blue/Black, or Diamine Oxford Blue cartridge, or international converter with bottled ink.
My UM 151 in .28 retractable blue-black is my favorite. It doesn't skip or blob like wider nibs. I like putting it in the retractable inkjoy barrel, more comfortable than any other barrel for a low grip.
Sarasa 0.4, 0.5, 0.7 blue-black are my favorites! I've used them for years! I want to try then Energel because they are so nice to write with! Thanks for this overview!
I love blue black inks so many of the pens listed are already a staple for me but still I'm glad i watched this.. I was introduced to several interesting markers that i will have to check out! As always, thanks Jetpens (condolences to my wallet)
I watched this video just to make sure you mentioned the UM-153. It's not just my favorite blue-black pen, but my favorite pen ever. They're super inexpensive, and you can buy refills! When I lost mine last year, I couldn't even wait for it to be shipped to me. I drove ~30 miles to the nearest Kinokuniya Bookstore to get a replacement as soon as I realized. :P
I found the Frixion blue-black pen in a bookstore at my university. I had never seen that colour, so I decided to try it (pens aren't my weakness, what are you talking about). I love it.
I'm a big fan of blue-black pens. My faves are the Sakura Pigma Micron 05 Blue Black, the Sakura Pigma Micron PN Blue Black, and the Sakura Gelly Roll Royal Blue, which I think is darker than some of the lighter blue-blacks in the video. If you notice a theme, yes, I am currently using only permanent ink pens after an unfortunate AC overflowing incident a couple of years ago that inundated a couple of my planner notebooks. The only salvagable pages were those written with Sakura Pigma Microns!
Ah yes, the blue black ink colour is the most versatile of ink colours. I remember ordering some Uniball RTs in blue black ink from the chain stationery store, and they worked very well for both lecture notes and thoughts. Imagine my dismay when I ran out of the ink, and had to order them online. Thanks for the video covering the best of the blue black family!
I do love blue-black ink as my most favourite ink colour. The Uniball Signo is an interesting choice. But I normally use a fountain pen for my writing, so Sailor Shikiori - Shimoyo is the way to go :)
I enjoy navy colored inks and prefer them more than the traditional blue. My favorite selections from this video are the Zebra Sarasa, Zebra Clickart Knock, and Pentel Energel. Two other favorites that aren't mentioned are the Pilot G2 and Precise V5, both in Navy.
As far as I've noticed, the words NAVY and BLUE-BLACK are used to describe a brand's dark blue ink. I would suggest to anyone that they purchase dark blue inks from different brands and compare. One might find a preference over others.
My fav formal-but-fun go-to wasn't blue-black, but black gel with glitter. RIP Sakura gelly-roll black stardust, I miss you. I prefer blue-blacks where others would use standard blue, though.
I LOVE my uni-ball vision elite in blue-black AND brown-black AND red-black. If they made a green-black, I'd probably only use that for everything for the rest of my life. 😉
Pilot G2 Navy is the best!! I’m glad you sell refills because I’ve never seen them sold individually. Could you make a list of pen bodies that accept the pilot g2 refills?

There's something about non-fountain pen blue black inks that are difficult to like... some of the above inks shown are just plain or light blue, not blue-black. Uni Jetstream inks dry quickly... as in, they dry up within 2 weeks of starting to use the pen. I know there's a way to reactivate dried inks, but it's such a hassle to have to do it every time you haven't recently used a certain pen (AKA one out of the 20 you currently own). Have you *seen* the streaks and unevenness at 1:15 - 1:18? Makes me wish Pilot would release Acroball refills in blue black and other colors.
When you say they dry, do you mean they don’t flow as well as before or they just don’t work at all? My uni jetstreams definitely work for well over 2 weeks with very little variation in performance over that time
@@ImNotPeso My experience with Uni Jetstream ballpoint pens might, for some reason, differ starkly from what's been advertised or touted. To answer the question: it depends on which pen/refill. Now I might have to get the sampler you mentioned in the comments, blue-black has quickly become my favorite ink color.
Hands down the MUJI Blue Black in 0.38 is my #1 blue black ink (sorry you guys don’t sell it). 2nd place goes to the Zebra Sarasa Clip On and 3rd is the 0.4 Hi Tec C Maica (yes, I have 2 packs of the 10 color set left and I am hanging on to them for dear life since they have been discontinued). 👍🏾
I use Noodlers 54th Massachusettes ink (which I got from JetPens thank you very much) in nearly all my fountain pens. It is my goto blue-black ink and looks great in my journal and is a true blue-black
The Pentel Slicci blue-black is my favourite, and I find the Slicci in general more reliable than the Pilot Hi-Tec - I write to the last bit every time.

I would call a third of those blue black lol Just blue. Including that ball point called "one of the few blue black ball point" Pentel RSVP normal blue is darker. They also have a light blue usually sold with the pink one or the purple, but that is a light blue, very far from blue black. I think most conventional blues are the same shade of that Jetstream blue, if not darker

Hi, just asking any who knows/Jetpens: Which grip tends to be more comfortable? (Just grip, not the ink) Uni Alpha Gel Jetstream or the Uni-Signo 207 Premier? The ink doesn't matter because I usually do refills. Thanks!
Hi there! It depends on what kind of grip you prefer. Both grips are very comfortable and soft on the fingers, but the Uni-ball Signo 207 Premier grip is just ever so slightly firmer than the Uni Alpha Gel Jetstream's grip. However, both grips are very squishy/soft. The Uni Jetstream's grip also collects slightly less dust than the Signo 207 Premier since it has a more matte surface. We hope that helps!

my favorites: Uni-Ball Vision Elite, Pilot Hi-Tec-C, and I really miss the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Maica with the fancy jeweled cap!
My current blue black fav is the uni-ball Signo RT in .38
Pilot Juice Up is easily my favorite blue black pen. Surprised the Juice and Juice Up weren’t mentioned. I do love a good blue black ink tho

My fav formal-but-fun go-to wasn't blue-black, but black gel with glitter. RIP Sakura gelly-roll black stardust, I miss you.

'The Hannah Montana of Pens' LOOOOOL. Amazing.
Not many people are writing about that 😅 I'm not ashamed to say I was a fan, eventhough I'm a guy 😁
I just got a platinum Procyon and it’s blue black ink cartridge is amazing!!
I fell in love with blue black ink when I bought a Zebra Sarasa R Gel, but upgraded to the Sarasa Grand Body. SOOOO gooood.
Dong-A My Gel's blue black is also good and an affordable one.
Blie black user over here. I use the Zebra Sarasa in .3 and the Zig double marker. Going to have to add the clickart to my wishlist to try out.
My favorite blue-black pens are the Pentel Energel Clena, which has such a beautiful body, too) and the Platinum Preppy Fountain Pen.
