- This video documents one of the very first builds of the new Zenith CH750 Super Duty STOL aircraft kits. The builder incorporated a number of innovative modifications to the aircraft design to provide a better match to its mission in the Alaskan bush environment. The kit was finished and flown from start to finish in approx. 80 days. The aircraft seats three occupants and is powered by a Viking 180 HP turbocharged Honda based engine. More information on the aircraft and the engine can be found via their respective manufacturers: Zenith Aircraft and Viking Aircraft engines.

Thank you Jon for another video which production/ camerawork/ voiceover is unmatched.
I could never be bored watching a wing being assembled.
I was in Mexico, Missouri during a Builder's Workshop last week when this plane stopped by on its way to Alaska from Florida. In fact, I was in the air during my test flight when Roger Dubbert spotted it. Let me say that black exterior showed up nicely against the background. Very impressive build and it looks like a solid beast on the ground.
What a thing of beauty and workmanship....this is one of the best builds I have watched....thanks for sharing this!
Beautiful plane. Perfect video.
Painted black heats up much more with the sun.
Sun exposure in black: 55 ° C
Sun exposure painted in white 32 ° C
A cordial greeting.
Such a neat build. I checked out Jan's operation @ Viking this past week and that aircraft was a beauty to behold.
MojoGrip thanks! We enjoyed you stopping by! Can’t wait to fly to Zenith Open House in a couple days!
Hi Jon, Steven Ward here in Tennessee, I am plans building the CH-750 and getting very close to done. All I can say is just wow! Awesome video and I love the builder improvements!
PERFECT! This MUST be the ultimate quick build kit ever...? A very well made vid. many thanks Jon and All :-)
Wow! That’s a beautiful airplane. Very striking. Thanks for the detailed building video parts too Jon. LOVE your videos.
There are a lot of great ideas in the build! Thanks for the motivation..
Nice job!
Hail and good morrow from Central Wyoming!
You've given a beat up old Neanderthal yet further impetus to keep a hold of that dream to have an outstanding STOL Craft under the sport pilot license venue!
I watched a ton of videos over the last couple years, and there are some great and amazing rigs out there, but some folks think that 60 or $70,000 is Affordable, and that is not the case with me!
This is why that Merlin PSA out of the Czech Republic is looking better and better, but it is not a true STOL!!
I still like the 750 SSD for what it can do, as I I'm going to sell my house here in Wyoming and moved South Central Alaska to retire.
I hope that you've made more of these types of hands on videos, because seeing the actual work in process, provides a far better understanding then mere explanatory!
Thank you for your hard work and effort from a beat up old Neanderthal in Central Wyoming!!!
Just great, in every way...thank you!
very nice video. As aviation pal, I have enjoyed the entire video. Keep up with them. KUDOS
I like it, well done!
I like the innovative instrument set up.
amazing job, i wish the video was longer
Left off the most important mods: the Beanie Mod and VGs. The low spot over the cockpit interferes to a great degree with airflow, creates a lot of turbulence and reduces rudder authority at low speed. The Savannah fixed that issue. Also, the slats don't work any better than vortex generators but have a significant penalty against cruise speed.
Whats a beanie mod and what do you do for the low spot
Good one Jon - very useful as ever!
Great video Jon!
Great video! Thanks
Great looking plane.
Very cool project Jon.
I want to see the rest of the estepa by estepa videos!
Beautiful plane. Perfect video.
Wing-rockin' cool!
I would like to advise you to release video that explain much about aluminium materials specifications.
For example, wing skin thickness, wing spar langelons etc
Hey gr8 video. Can we get the plans plz
Great vid Jon,loved the extra tips, tail strike and rudder fairleads, wonder what the minimum engine you could use for the SD would the 130hp viking do or do you have to have 180hp, obviously the 0-200 would not be enough read somewhere that you needed 50hp per person
Nice !
My favorite STOL and I would absolutely love to own this one. Struggling my way through lessons now hard to make the dream of flight possible these days
Beautiful ! How about the cost and the overall built duration ?
This is not a "how-to" video, so it's best to watch at 1.75 speed. He only sounds slightly faster than normal in speaking (he's a slow talker), and you don't miss anything in the video.
But a good overview of what to expect if you build one.
Wish I can build and fly one someday...
How many man hours total would you estimate it take you to build this SD?
Great video, beautiful aircraft, thanks! :-)
Do the wings fold?
Who makes the electric rivet puller? Also, another corrosion protection question... does Zenith use 2024 or 6061 aluminum in their construction? Would make a big difference whether to prime the inside or not. Thanks for the GREAT videos!
Based on my copy of the Zenith Construction Standards doc, Zenith uses 6061-T6 Aluminum Alloy.
Did you have to deburr the holes in this kit?
There's some good ideas there Jon. But why no corrosion prevention during the assembly? After all the aircraft is going to be used in Alaska where it's damp
I too wonderered on that .
They use 6061-T6 aluminum which is not as prone to corrosion
I didn't see any de-burring done - is that done for you already - or?
what rivet puller is used???
I wanna buy tires like these where can i get them ? Any one know
This is just the aviation equivalent of building IKEA furniture
I hope i will be part of your team ,:)
Hello can you help withe the best enjine that get 400 thrust
Hi I'm your subscriber please can you tell me about wing skin thickness and wing skin allumenium grade.please I need help

Riveting video
It's still square and still ugly.
kinda like you
@@drillbabydrill123 In a fairness it is square and ugly, even though I've never met him and he could be as well. Seriously, a guy can have an opinion even though you may not agree.
