I'm from the future and I can indeed inform you that the moris have been changed and can only be used when the survivor is on death hook. But for the keys, they're exactly the same.

My SWF group were discussing moris and keys the other day, and we all came to pretty much the same conclusion; keys should reveal killers as standard and mori's should be death hooks only. Each match we went into with a key, even just 1 key, the killer had either a mori or devour soap. Their justification was "You play unfair, I play unfair". It's stupid.

Keys should require a 20 second animation, that resets if you leave, like a totem. The animation is similar to a survivor opening a chest, and once the hatch opens you immediately escape and the hatch closes after. With moris, the cyprus should be built in, if you have killed/sacrificed every other survivor. The ivory should be brought up to purple rarity, and both ivorys and ebonys should require the killer to hook each individual survivor once before anyone can be morid.

Easiest way to fix keys and moris would be for keys to only allow one survivor escape, so as soon as the key is used for the hatch, the hatch auto closes and moves to another location (to stop SWFs relaying info on where the hatch is if multiple keys are brought into the trial). As for Ebony Moris, the condition should be the same as it is, however, by completing a gen, it deactivates the mori until another survivor is hooked.

Keys would be more balanced if the animation took 5 seconds and triggered an alert to the killer, atleast the bm would be reduced. HOWEVER keys can be seen and countered within the lobby in most cases especially with franklins. Survivors cant do anything about moris, especially camping moris, additionally keys can only be used under certain circumstances, killers are allowed to mori for just doing killer things and theres no limitation to how they can go about achieving it, whether it be camping or tunneling or just using it reducing the total number of minimum hooks down to 4 (3 technically if the last person hasnt been hooked prior)
I agree: I feel like the mori can be way more unfair than keys, especially when the killer camps + tunnels and has that ebony mori... BUT keys are still super unfair, like when all the 3 remaining survs just escape when there's still 1 gen to go. It cuts the game short. I rarely use keys to escape, but it annoys me that I get instant moried when I bring a key in just to read aura. I also hate the fact that it's automatically seen as toxic to bring or key or put a mori on. The thing is, it's only toxic when you use them in certain ways

I was trapper and face camped the last suvivor to make shore they couldn't unhook themself and she successfully 4% and has the key and before I could hit her she escaped through the hatch that was right behind me . She did it so freaking fast it was unbelievable

See this video shows exactly what is the problem with keys, let's say out of 10 times you bring a key you can only use it like 2-3 times anyways. The rest of the times you get tunneled, mori'd, Franklin's, or you're even alive and didn't lose it but can't find the thing (at least the offering helps with that if you have one). So I'd advice to only equip the key in the last like 10 seconds, so at least the killer can't bring a mori just because of you bringing the key. Ofc there could always be a mori still just randomly, or they could tunnel you. Then go and drop the key somewhere. And when it's the right time you could go back and pick it up. But with this you sometimes can't get through hatch in a chase if the hatch has already spawned, you're dead hook and the killer catches you before you have picked it up, so you might as well keep it and maybe in 1/10 tries you will be able to walk past the hatch mid chase, depends on your playstyle what you like more I guess. If you're more immersed I would choose the pick up strategy, if you're not or great at looping/losing the killer then keep it.
So keys CAN be broken sometimes, but MOST of the times they're not and you can only really use them if you're lucky. For a key to use you need to do something, work on enough gens and/or other teammates need to die first, and then you still need to find it if you don't have an offering, which is for me often the point where it doesn't work out as I'm wandering around the whole map, can't find it and eventually get found by the killer.
Whilst moris on the other side are just broken, at least how most killers use them, which is tunneling you right off the hook, so they just need to hook you and then proxy camp hook until you get off, walk right back to you and they got it. I think mori's would be cool if they could only be used when you'd be dead on hook anyways, some killers use them like that and I think it's pretty cool to have the killing animation from time to time instead of the entity coming upon you. Or maybe so that you prevent tunneling by making it that he has to have every surv hooked once or something, but with that he could still tunnel the last surv he hooked so that would also be a problem..

Mori are fun to use. The only understandable problem is comes it that people assume you're gonna kill off 1st hook. So they juice gens heavily. Not really giving you a chance. As for keys their annoying for me as a killer main. It ends up feeling no matter how well I played. Unless I made sure almost no gens got done. Then I automatically lose. It's even more annoying when a survivor kinda just wait for you so they can leave through hatch.

To make it even more fair, killers can't switch killers in lobbies but survivors can. So they switch last second and have another survivor with a pink key and good addons.
You can see every survivor when they can't see killer though. Even if they switch last second, you still have 5-15 seconds to dodge the lobby with zero penalty. I think keys absolutely need to be nerfed, but beyond that killers shouldn't see survivor's items prematch.
you should run the key build that has addons when you mindchannel you get a perfect window tech and title it "THE PERFECT WINDOWTECH"
They should buff keys and all their addons a ton but make it so they can't open the hatch. Moris should be on death hook only but you should be able to skip the mori animation so it sort of acts like a super quick final hook to save time.

I think I played a game against you about 3 days ago. I was a Blight in The Game map and brought a green Mori when I saw a key in the lobby. You DC’d when I downed you a second time but you were honestly one of the best survivors I’ve ever had to chase so it was incredibly difficult
I feel like your build can determine what your up against, like if you use a key you go against a mori, or if you use a healing build you go against sloppy or thana or something. Might be superstition, but it really seems that way to me. Likewise, when you play spirit, it seems your more likely to go against anti spirit builds. (obv not including reactionary moris)

i think the key nerf should be, 1 gen done the key gives an arrow of the direction the hatch will be. 2 gens done it gives the arrow and give that red aura on the floor of the map like pyramid heads alert for survivors running thru his trail for a 20 meter range of where the hatch will be before it spawns. 3 gens done you can open. opening the hatch is like opening an exit gate with a timer. different colors keys are how many people can escape thru hatch. #wrongkey=Abandonment Issues xD (superrare key add on for no timer) just an idea, meh....

Keys should have to be charged. If you don’t do enough it won’t open the hatch. Also just like crows, if you don’t do an objective for like 2 minutes it starts to lose the charge. Too many people do 4 gens and just stealth until one person dies.
Just came back to dead by daylight, i play one game, get a flashlight save, get downed from a mile away (literally about 3 meters), then die on first hook. Love this game

Keys are fine (with a little rework to make them show auras of survivor friends part of the base kit so you dont need to put an add on for it) hatch is what needs to be removed/reworked. Literally zero reason to give survivors a free escape just because they hid longer than the rest. Moris also need to be removed/reworked as well, but i just dont know a good rework for them. Death hook change just seems dumb imo, but i honestly can't think of anything better with it. I'd rather just remove hatch and moris than rework them.

I agree I am a killer and survivor b I don’t like bringing mori’s or a key. I feel as though that it’s pretty OP. I only bring medkits and a flashlight that’s about all I’ll bring. I’d I ever bring a toolbox it’s just to mess around and sabo hooks to prevent the killer from booking.
t's just a game. Moris and keys make the game interesting. You know how good it feels being in solo queue with a bunch of potatoes and then finding a key in a chest and actually getting a chance to survive? Also, as a killer and survivor I honestly don't face keys or moris that often. Maybe like once or twice a week, but not enough to wear I'd want them removed from the game.

With moris they should just rework Devour Hope giving a different reward for 5 tokens and give moris the required 5 hooks to activate.
With Keys I think a charge up time with or without skill checks like a regular objective would be fine. Just make it similar to totems where you have to do it all in 1 sitting or it resets to 0.
Would decrease tunnel mori out the gate and would make 3 gen situation have another objective (hatch) to protect.
Moris are way more stupid than keys are. With a mori you can get a survivor out of the game in the first minute, with a key you still have to do gens and then find it (ignoring the completely stupid hatch offerings)
All the key needs is a opening animation so you can't just yeet out mid chase

Something that the devs could do to nerf keys would be to only find them in the trial but making only broken keys obtainable through the BloodWeb. Add-ons should also be reworked to only see auras with the green key. Honestly I think that this would make the game a little more balanced when it comes to keys. Leave some replies about mori's, bc I can't think of any.
