That question about Mark Adam's bass setup live & studio and how he got that bass sound (Visions of the Light, New Plateau albums) has always been something of a courosity and still continues to this day. Sadly it remains unanswered. I even tried writing to Mark, but never got an answer. I've seen pix of some of his basses, Fender Jazz, and a three pickup Jazz custom, and Alembic Series I. I own these basses as well. I know these sounds and can hear the Jazz bass sounds on the older albums and possibly the Series I sound on the albums I mentioned. I guess it will be one of those unanswered mysteries, like James Jamerson's sound, but I'll keep looking out for stuff about Slave and how Mark Adams aka Hanslor got that bass sound and what he used to get it. Slave is still one of my favorite groups that I listen to. Thanks for the question. Perhaps someday, we'll both learn the anawers!
